Pros:

It's gentle
effective
doesn't over dry your skin
no burning or harmful side efffects
it's AMAZING!

Cons:

None!

I have suffered with acne for as long as I could remember. And when everyone grew out of their teenage years and the acne went away mine never did. I truly had given up on an effective product and was weary of trying this one because I had burned my skin before using Benzoyl Peroxide. But I can tell you I have severely sensitive skin and this amount is all you and is just right. My skin has NEVER LOOKED BETTER! Try it! If you suffer from acne and you have sensitive skin like I do, I feel your pain. Nothing works and when it does it hurts...this product elminates all of that! It's amazing and works incredibly. I wanted to share my story because I'm truly a success. This product works and I am a customer for life!!

Pros:

-Smells good
-Beads feel good on your face
-The overnight acne spot treatment does help, same with the refining mask- plus it hides your blemishes with a white mask cream when youre around your family at home

Cons:

-3 step system makes it easy to be inconsistent
-If you become a member of their club, they will send you more kits than you need
-They act like its the magic bullet for acne, and its not
-They dont mention on their wonderful commercials that it does not work for everyone
-It is overendorsed and held up on a high level, but it isn't the magic bullet it says it is

Proactiv gets celebrities to endorse their product, and act as though it is the magic bullet for acne. I, along with others who have tried it that I know, were not impressed. I did not see results even when I did use it consistently.

Pros:

Works great! I wish this was around when I was a teen but I have it now. I have been using it for about 5 years and my skin looks great. I can now us the cleanser and then I use wich hazel if I run low on the 2nd and 3rd bottles.

Cons:

I wish they still sold this in Costco.

I want to tell all people to get this and use it if they have acne because I never thought I would ever look in the mirror and see clear skin. I remember being a little worried aboult trying this because I did try Proactive first and it made my skin worse but this product is fast and great.

Pros:

It works for most people
Just not for me

Cons:

I am apparently sensitive to it...

I really really really wanted to love this. But as soon as I put it on, my skin started turning red and burning. I think I may be allergic? Now face is puffy. Oh joy, school tomorrow. But I don't blame the product, I blame myself. I should have known, I can't even use salicylic acid.

Pros:

Great Texture
Goes on smooth, silky vs. Neutrogena On the spot tx.
Works great with moisturizers
Has greatly improved my skin (acne) within the 1st few days. with continued used I can tell I will still continue to see great improvement.

Cons:

Mild burning when I first started treatment. Usually goes away within 5 or so minutes.
Makes my skin a tad bit dry w/ mild flaking, but nothing compared to Neutrogena on the spot tx.

I would say yes definetly give this a whirl..it doesn't cost too much and the shipping was really fast. I rec'd my package within 2 days. The bottle is a very good size and even w/ the 3 pump use, it should last awhile. I can't rave enough about the texture of this BP. I was using Neutrogena on the Spot treatment before and had to use in very small amounts because it would dry so quickly. My skin does very well with this gel texture. I've noticed some mild breakouts but my old one's are clearing up quite nicely and with continued use I feel they will slowly clear as well.

Pros:

No scent
Cleared up acne
Works great as an overnight spot treatment
A LOT OF COMPLIMENTS :)

Cons:

NONE.

This product is magical! Like a lot of you, I tried every product from every company and despite the promises to clear 100% of acne I found myself either worse off or with no change at all. I came to Acne.org to find reviews on other products and when I found out Dan sold products I decided to give it a try. I have a sensitive face so I had about 2 weeks worth of peeling, itching and burning while trying to get used to the BP but once that subsided I was able to look into the mirror for the first time in my life and feel confident. I got compliments left and right from people I didn't even know and I felt so good about myself. I'm going to be using this product for the rest of my life, I love it so much! P.S. I know how extremely uncomfortable it can be during the time period that you're skin is trying to get used to the BP but please believe me when I say DON'T GIVE UP! Your skin will eventually get used to it and all of your acne will be gone for good. Just hang in there and good luck to everyone who is suffering with acne, it will get better :)

Pros:

Smells okay compared to other acne products.

Cons:

Stops working after about a month.
When you wash your face with the cleanser its like washing your face with rough sandpaper because of the little beads that scrub your skin. Doesnt work in general.

The media makes Proactiv sound amazing when its really not, bottom line is it doesnt work and its a waste of time...

Pros:

none!

Cons:

irritates your skin
leaves your skin oily
very expensive

after using both dan's treatment and proactiv, the main difference is that proactiv uses a medicated mosturizer that continues to dry out your skin and irritate it, and your skin has a hard time healing it's acne, whereas dan's moisturizer has jojoba oil and licorice root with no BP, so that it soothes and cools your skin much better, which is probably the most important thing for acne treatment! if your skin is irritated, it won't heal itself, this is something that most people overlook in acne treatment.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
