Pros:

-It worked for about a week

Cons:

-Redness increased
-Made acne worse
-Itchy
-The price
-Burns
-Smells weird

I used this 2 times. One time when I was 11 and the other about 6 months ago. It was horrible. They kept charging me even when I stopped the order. It made my skin so bad. I was dissapointed. It's a bad product. Don't even get me started on the annoying commercials. It worked for a week, then it made my skin living hell. I used this for over a few months hoping for results, and nothing.

Pros:

Green tea moisturizer reduces oil

Cons:

Smells really strong
Let my skin far worse than it ever was

Using this felt like I was drenching my skin in chemicals. I didn't like it, and neither did my skin. I used this exactly as directed, and at one week, my skin broke out terribly. It felt painful and looked awful. I know it says that breaking out during this is normal, but it's just so difficult to trust anything that says that anymore. I used the regimen for a week after, and I saw absolutely no improvement. I fixed up my skin with a gentle cleanser and witch hazel toner. I kept the green tea moisturizer that came with the kit since that worked really well. It's been a few months and I still have the scars from when I used Proactiv. I guess this works for some people, but not for anyone who breaks out in severe acne.

Pros:

Actually works.
Bottle lasts forever, which helps with the shipping costs.

Cons:

Will dry your face out initially.
Can irritate sensitive areas.

I was very hesitant to try the Acne.org regimen. I've used so many disappointing products over the years. One day I decided to just try it and am so happy I did. The product will cause your face to flake, especially if your skin is not use to chemicals (mine wasn't). Be mindful of this going in and apply it in small amounts. I didn't start applying the recommended dosage until after 3 months. Even with the small dosages my face instantly began to clear up. I have (had) a smallish patch of cystic acne on one cheek and a large cyst on the other cheek. Other than that my face is generally clear, with occasional outbreaks. The product fixed all of the extraneous blemishes and about 5 months in, the cystic patch is virtually gone. The cyst on my other cheek is completely gone! A couple of other pointers- really try not to pick at your face. I was the worst about that, and when I finally forced myself to stop, was when I noticed obvious improvements with the cystic patch. At this point, my face is virtually clear and the texture and evenness of my skin has really evened out. This is a great line of products. I highly highly recommend it! You won't be disappointed!

Pros:

None, it dried out my skin and didn't work. I have been using it for a year now and I see no difference, if anything it has made my acne worse.

Cons:

Dry skin, acne doesn't clear up.

SUCKS!

Pros:

shipping was fast and easy, but other than that none.

Cons:

Worked for the first week then totally backfired on me! My acne flared up like never before. My face became more oily. Gave me deep painful pimples, more blackheads, bigger pores, costed too much, took up too much time, and just didnt work.

This stuff is a LIE! It's not worth your money. Don't waste your time because it only makes your acne worse! It gives you severe deep painful pimples, enlarges your pores, and just makes you feel horrible! My self esteem went down and I found myself hiding from my friends and avoiding contact with other people. It is a HORRIBLE product! And when you stop using the product the company will never stop bugging you about how they "miss you so much". its so annoying. If you know your own good, don't waste your time on this product, its a lie.

I have been using this system religiously (twice daily) for countless months now, and I have seen no change in my acne whatsoever. I was ready to get serious about my acne after suffering for 7 years and sort of sampling products here and there, and I really thought this was the answer. I had used it a little in the past and liked how it made my skin feel smooth and clean then, but I didn't experience that this time. I really didn't experience any change (good or bad) in my skin. I even stopped wearing makeup on my face to see if that would help! Now my face just looks red and awful all the time, but I just don't even care anymore. I will keep using this since I don't know what else to do. I do think that if you have mild acne that has not yet left scars on your face then this system may work well for you. I think I just waited too long to take action.

Pros:

-Cleared up my acne!!!
-Spreads easily around skin
-16 oz will last me a lifetime
-Skin quickly adapted to the BP to the point that it's not so drying anymore

Cons:

-Very drying once you start for the first couple weeks
-Scent burned my eyes at times even when keeping the cream far away from the eye-area
-Made skin feel very oily

I have tried many acne treatments including AcneFree, Clean & Clear, & Neutrogena but none worked & some made me breakout more. I got Retin-A from my doctor which improved my skin a bit & didn't feel dry but it took too long to have an effect & did not clear my bumps completely. After researching the regimen I have been using Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, Acne.org BP, & CeraVe Moisturizer every morning/evening now I have NO BUMPS WHATSOEVER! I still have red marks on my cheeks that the vanished acne has left but I think once I start using Acne.org's Cleanser for shaving cream & AHA+ every other night it will be the icing on the cake to having 100% clear skin. I also started take a pill of zinc & fish oil after every breakfast which has helped with my skin. The main downside is it's been 4 months & I still can't use the amount Dan recommends (3 pumps for big pump or 2 pumps for smaller pump). I have the bigger pump & I can't even get to 2 pumps it's just too much & usually burns my eyes because of the strong scent. In the morning I use half a pump for my face & another half for my shoulder/back. In the evening I use 1-1.5 pumps. Perhaps my skin doesn't absorb the gel as quickly but even so the BP does the job despite using a much lower amount than the regimen's requirement.

Pros:

At first it seems great, but ends up beings a HUGE disappointment.

Cons:

EVERYTHING

I was very disappointed in my Proactiv experience. Not only was I mislead, but it did not work. Upon placing my initial order it was very misleading as to what I was going to be charged each month. Also, I was very disappointed in how long it actually took to get my order once I was charged. I had decided to give it some time to see if it would work. After receiving two shipments and still no results, I decided to call it quits. Once I called to cancel my order, although the status of the next shipments according to my online account said that it had not been shipped yet, I was informed that it was too late and that the order was going to be shipped anyways and that I was going to have to return it. So not only did I have to pay to have something I did not want shipped to me, I also had to pay to return it. I did all this, and when I called Proactiv the woman informed me that I was not going to be charged any more and that I would be refunded for my first monthly installment. I purchased delivery confirmation for my order and saw that it had been recieved on the 22nd of this month, and lo and behold yet another installment had been withdrawn from my account on the 24th. I can understand it might take time to process everything, but once it's in your system as being returned you should be able to stop further payments. It's all computerized anyways. My overall experience with proactiv was very upsetting and I am still waiting to be refunded and aggitated that I lost out on shipping, to and from might I add. It's very unfortunate, but I suppose things aren't always what they seem. Regretful and disappointed,

Pros:

prevents underground pimples

I've actually used this from high school before, I believe it works fairly well. Otherwise if I haven't used this product at all my acne would be out of control. I think its best if you used it on a daily not wait until you have an underground pimple. It doesn't work. This product has helped me prevented less underground pimples that cause scars and after using it, I would get atleast 3 underground pimples a year. but nowthat I stopped using it, the underground pimples are popping like crazy. This product does wonders!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
