Pros:

None.

Cons:

Didn't do anything but dry out my face.

I'm in my mid-20s and began breaking out for some reason and i had a lot of red spots and blackheads on my chin and nose. I was also getting oily during the day. I bought Acne Free thinking this would solve everything and while I followed the directions, it did nothing besides dry my face out for the 2-3 weeks I used it. After being fed up with NO results, i knew i needed to try something else so i did an online e-valuation on [link removed] and got their Rapid Clear face wash and wipes and everything cleared up within 2-3 days. I love the stuff! I also changed to Neutrogena make-up and my blackheads have slowly been diminishing. Bottom Line... Use neutrogena, the purpose of salicylic acid is to replenish your skin quickly while the benzoyl peroxide in Acne Free just dries things out, doesn't repair anything and bleaches your clothing/towels.

Pros:

For myself the toner and moisturizer is nice though it did nothing for my acne.

Cons:

It seered my roommate's skin off! I kid you not! She used the product for maybe a week and one day she had chemical burns all over her face! (a doctor's visit confirmed this). I stopped using it after seeing what it did to her.

I dont recommend this product to anyone. It didn't work very well and if you have sensitive skin you can apparently wake up to chemical burns. Stay far far away!

Pros:

Inexpensive, easy to use, consistently improves skin. Can easily buy a 3 month supply at Costco for $30.

Cons:

I didn't see results right away, but the longer I have used it the more I notice it has worked very well. (Using for 6 months now)

I have moderate breakouts due to super sensitive skin. Basically if I touch anything or someone touches me I used to break out. (Bad for the social life!) I first used ProActiv but it made my skin worse because it was so drying. Thankfully Acnefree does not dry out my skin and is very effective at stopping any new breakouts. I use Cetaphil for sensitive skin as a wash ( to remove makeup) and while the Cetaphil is still on my skin I use a small amount of the Acnefree Cleanser. I use all the rest of the 3 steps as directed but that is my only slight modification, and I was astonished at how well it has improved my face. Hope that helps anyone else that might have problems with dry skin!

Pros:

Pretty good.

Cons:

Takes awhile to absorb

Quit drinking NUTRISWEET, and have regular dentist visits. I suffered for years with acne. I tried everything. I quit eating/drinking things with artificial sweetener, and I have no more cystic acne. A few blemished here and there still. Change your pillowcases. Clean your makeup brushes. Apply makeup with clean sponge everyday. These are all things I have learned. Most important is the Nutrisweet.

Pros:

Works well and leaves your skin soft. And, it is inexpensive considering the size of the bottle you receive. Customer service and response time is very good.

Cons:

It is a bit harsh in the beginning, but if you can get through that you will have great results.

If you suffer from adult acne, it is worth a try. I have tried everything and this is the only thing that has worked for me. I am so happy I found this product.

Pros:

Your face will become clear in few days, its cheaper than other acne products, earlier acne scars will become light with regualr use..

Cons:

It may be allergic to some people, have to use consistently to see the results

I simply love this product.. I had moderate acne on my face but the pimples used to leave a mark which would take years to go.. With this product not only my Pimples have become zero but the scars also are almost gone.. I simply love this product... it has given me a new confidence.. everyone can notice the difference in my skin.. people compliment my skin all the time.. :-) i have never been happier with my skin before this ...

Pros:

I guess it has cleared up a tad. Many people say it has worked for them. So I will wait and see.

Cons:

It's not working for me, but I just now am using it. My skin is drying up and burning... I have tried everything and I was prescribed by a doctor for this and to mix it with clindamycin so I guess it will work eventually.

Supposed to work, may take awhile... lots of many different symptoms.

Pros:

i have only been using this for a week and i only have one zit left! i used to have like 5-7 at a time that would take a week or two to go away but this is fading my scars, kills zits VERY quickly, gets rid of blackheads.

Cons:

dries skin a tad.

cant wait to see how my skin looks in a month. BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 WORKS WAY BETTER THAN NUETROGENA ON THE SPOT WHICH I TRIED. i use cetaphil face wash/lotion with this.

Pros:

none

Cons:

Overly irritating, the cleanser tries to exfoliate and also has benzoyl peroxide in it. Adding more benzoyl peroxide topically just irritates the skin even more, the toner is useless and the lotion doesn't even help with the dryness

Awful. I got horrible, cystic pimples while on this product..also, it is so expensive AND breaks out your skin. I gave it a good run even after I started getting the boils on my face from it. NOT WORTH IT!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
