Pros:

I only use the Liquid facial soap. It's not oily or greasy, prevent dryness.

Cons:

The whole system DOESNT work.

I have mild acne on my T-Zone. Im 16 and I have had Acne, for about 2 or 3 years. I get painful cysts on my chin usually. I've tried everything from regular soap to presciptions. I don't there is really one whole product like out there that will clear up anyones face. I think I have finally found my cure. I wash my face morning and night with Cetaphil Cleansing Bar of soap, in the mornings i use my prescription of BenzaClin, then Clinique liquid facial soap extra-mild - it's not greasy and helps with the dryness left from the BenzaClin (which works WONDERS)... At night i was with the Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar of soap again the i use DERMAdoctor Ain't misbehavin' intensive medicated blackhead treatment (Sephora $50) This shrinks my pores and makes my face produce less oils and dirt which cause acne. So far this has decresed my acne by about 90%. Its not as expensive as it sounds eather, talk to your doctor about BenzaClin..

Pros:

makes my fave feel awesomely smoothe
last time I used this product, my face was absolutely blemish free.

Cons:

As soon as summer hit, the product made me break out like crazy. I would reccomend not spending much time in the sun or tanning beds for that matter. The product will work against you.

I used this product two years a ago and my face was all clear until summer came along. I stopped using it. But now that my skin has been in the worst condition it's ever been in, I'm starting to use it again and I remeber why I loved it.

Pros:

It works really well. My face has seen a very good improvement. When i get a pimple and i use proactiv corrrectly, it either goes away within 2 days or it dries up and doesn't look so oily and noticible

Cons:

your face can get a little dry,but u don't need to buy the expensive proactiv moisterizer, i just buy the $4 clean and clear one evry 2 to 3 days and it works just the same as the proactiv moisterizer.

I have had medium to severe acne from 5th grade. I have tried many things, clean and clear, oxy pads, clearasel, etc, and none of them worked in the long run. They worked for the 1st 4 days and then stopped. Now i'm not saying that those products don't work at all but they didn't work for me. I have went to dermatologists and the stuff they gave me (pills, etc) would work for a month but then i built up an immunity to them. I now have been using proactiv for about a year and a half. i am a consistent user. Don't listen to some of the people above sayin it doesn't work when they only been using it for a month and most of them not correctly. Proactiv WON'T WORK IF YOU ONLY USE IT ONCE A DAY OR IF U SKIP A DAY. TT WILL KEEP YOUR ACNE FROM GETTING BAD IF U USE IT ONCE A DAY. BUT IT WILL ONLY KEEP UR FACE CLEAR IF U DO IT TWICDE A DAY. Now i still get pimples once in a while from stress, etc but my face is one of the clearest out of the people i know. Proactiv has greatly improved my skin.

Pros:

easy to use. gives you a good clean feeling. works well!

Cons:

my face feels a bit dry.

I have been to a dermatoligist, and tried pretty much everything out there! i've only been using it for about a week and my face is already clearing up! i love it! i can't wait to see how much more my face is going to improve

Pros:

Works fast at first, and then your skin get used to it and it stops working.

Cons:

Dryness

If you stop using it, your skin breaks out terribly.

Can't use it for the long term! I used Proactiv for more than a year. At first, it worked very well and my skin was clear for a while. But after a few months, my acnes made a comeback and no matter how much I applied I still had breakouts here and there, it was very stressful and also it made my skin drier and tighter. I decided to switch to other skincare products- the first few weeks after cutting off Proactiv my skin was breaking out like crazy...I didn't go back to it because I didn't want to grow a dependency on the products. After a few torturous months my skin slowly regain its balance but still breaks out especially during my lady days and other stressful time. Now I think I will give Dan's gel a try.

Pros:

clears skin, great smell, works fast, overall great product

Cons:

expensive

I used this product last night, and this morning. thats it. i am already noticing a difference! all of my smaller bumps are gone, along with redness. the larger pimples are shrinking but not completely gone. it smells super clean and i love the smell. It leaves my face feeling super smooth and totally re-knewed. it made my face feel lighter, and healthy. I am 13 and have only used this product to times!!!

Pros:

There is none

Cons:

Does not absorb into skin but leaves a mask ... can look like as if you are wearing make-up (not the done thing being male)
OMG IT WILL MAKE YOUR FACE LOOK LIKE A TOMATO

Was only using this product for 2 days - after 8 weeks on Brevoxyl - and my face was ruined. LOOKED LIKE RED PAINT WAS THROWN ON MY FACE. Red, red, red, Red, red, red,Red, red, red,Red, red, red,Red, red, red,Red, red, red ... u get the picture, its red. obviously i had a bad reaction to it and must be due to my skin type. So if you have normal to oily or combination ... pale, sensitive, and generally from the UK (white-british) avoid like the plague. Unless you like having a red face, wire in ...
November 20, 2007

Pros:

Softer skin

Cons:

More break outs

The areas where i used put proactive has cleared but its caused more acne on other areas of my face. The product does not do anything other than scrub your face down with all the cleansers, and lotions. Please dont buy this product! Go to your dermitoligist and consult with them before using this.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
