Pros:

exfoliating,calming,clearing

Cons:

irritating the first 4 or 5 days

B.P. is the sh*t i put it on before bed after i have washed with a 2.5% salicylic acid wash, when i wake up the next day my skin is much calmer, and any little pimps are receeding, over the past few weeks i have even noticed my scars getting lighter. i hate my scars so i also use neutrogena helioplex spf70 my causes for my acne are extreme stress, oil, and bacteria i take zinc, and a b complex for internal stuff and benzoyl peroxide for the outside.

Pros:

Acutally works when used as directed!

Cons:

Application time.
Dyes fabrics.
Some flakeing, but not to bad when a moistureizer is also used.

I have been suffering with acne for 15 years now and this is the only product that i have found to be effective. In fact, i have found it to be nearly 100% effective. Despite the shipping costs and application times, i would NEVER even consider useing a different product. I would suggest that all new users watch the videos on this website, and follow them to the letter in order to honestly evaluate the products effectiveness.

Pros:

--It slows down the process of acne, but doesn't get rid of them completely.

Cons:

--Causes dryness and skin to flake
--Must shake bottle before every use
--MaxClarity sends you another package even when you didn't order it (must end subscription)
--The 2nd product they send you cost 39.90
--when one pimple dissapeared, another one reappeared

It's not worth your money. I order the 19.95 deal only hoping to only TRY the product and see if I wanted to keep buying or not and they don't tell you that BEFOREHAND that they will send and charge you the 2nd product for the full price of 39.90. I was a bit annoyed because all I wanted was to try it, and it's such a hassle and time waster to ship both products back. I'm never ordering from them again. The product isn't even that helpful long term and cause skin to dry. If you were like me and just want to try it, order it, and call to end the subscription right away otherwise you'll have to pay shipping for two boxes to send them back.

Pros:

-leaves rest of skin that has no acne feeling smooth
-feels refreshing

Cons:

-bottles run out at different times; have no more toner but have plenty of the first step (cleanser) left
-no immediate results

the acne i have isn't so severe, but i never had a problem with it until recently. i usually had one or two zits every month or two, but now i find a new one every week. i don't have acne all over my face (breakouts only on forehead, between nose and lips, and chin). i didn't see results immediately like the commercials said i would. in fact, i really didn't see any results until about a month later. i did notice the sides of my face and cheeks smoother. i still broke out even after using the kit. and that refining mask that says to dab a little when i see a zit forming to prevent it from getting bigger..? DOES NOT WORK. i still woke up with the zit, bigger than the night before. i used the kit accordingly, two times a day, the mask every other day, and green tea extract once a week or so. i was hoping to see VISIBLE results and stop breaking out, but it didn't do so. i called to cancel the kit, and the guy said people dont see results until about a month later. so i continued to use it for two months and did see LITTLE results; fewer breakouts. today my face is clear. two days ago i had a zit. probably tomorrow i'll get a small one. its random. so does it work? i guess it just depends on the skin you have. i can't speak for everyone, but if you have similar acne problems like mine, you might get the same results.

Pros:

nice consistency-no odor.

Cons:

burned my skin, leaving painful red rashes.

unfortunately i didn't have the success of others. when i first got it I followed the directions, initially it irritated me a bit but I expected that and kept using it in hopes of it getting better. now if i use it it causes really bad red burning on my skin, that takes days to heal. I can use the cleanser but not the peroxide treatment. for people with hyper sensitive skin this product may be too harsh. I feel frustrated that I spent so much money on these products to have such a bad reaction.

Pros:

Delivered to my house!
Appears to heal acne pimples faster
Does not smell bad
Makes my skin feel really really clean!
Lasts for a long time
Still having SOME breakouts, though it really has cleared my skin up for the most part nicely

Cons:

I am now oily in my T zone (this has NEVER happened before)
It is a little expensive
I hate to be trapped into a monthly plan
Dries my skin a lot, but this is managable with moisturizer

I do actually like the Proactiv solution... I feel that it has helped with my acne, and I trust that it will work for my skin.... I have not played around with it too much (i.e. come off to see if my acne flares back up, not used one of the products...) I follow the directions religiously. Bottom line, I know that while using proactiv, when a pimple is forming, it will come to a head within one day, then I pop it (properly) and within a day or two it is dried up, and gone...the healing is REALLY quick. Red marks- There are a few, but it is really light, and they fade after a short while (a week at tops) This is not a big deal for me, because I have freckles, and so the marks are sort of hidden. To counteract the oilyness, I have started to use the Proactiv Daily Oil Control, and that does help. On proactiv I am confidant that when a pimple arises, it will be gone within a few days, as opposed to before, when I would have pimples under the skin for WEEKS, pimples that never came to a head, and when it would come to a head, it would take forever to heal and be done with it.

Pros:

I find this product to be really effective in clearing acne. I bought it when my face was covered with zits, but within 48 hrs the acne had reduced considerably!
Does dry the face, but its actually a good thing since now my face does not feel so oily any more. (apparently the AC thingee absorbs sebum, reducing oiliness)
In short, it WORKS!

Cons:

Still get the occasional breakout, but considerably less than before.
Expensive. SGD $14 for a 50 gm bottle (lasts about a month)

Benzac AC definitely works. Other BP products will probably work as well and are worth a try if cheaper.

Pros:

IT WORKS! It is cheaper than the Dr. visits I was paying for 2 teens!

Cons:

None that I have found.

I have 2 teens. Teen #1 has been going to the Dr. for acne for 4 years. They wanted to put her on acutane and I refused, we have tried everything from Antibotics to topical prescriptions. I ordered the Kick a$$ industrial strength acne formula and I have to say her face is clear. She will get a pimple every once and a while but her face looks great. The scars are even going away. Teen #2 is younger and just started breaking out last year, I started her on the same as Teen #1 above and at first she did break out worse, I contacted Carley's and he emailed her specific instructions on how to wash her face. She now has clear skin and is so happy. This stuff is truly amazing!!! I am a holistic nut so it makes me very happy I can keep there skin clean and clear without harsh chemicals. OH and the soap is awsome! You also get free samples that are also great!

Pros:

Smells okay. Easy storage.

Cons:

When you first use it it causes breakouts. Then it "clears it up" that is what i have been told but I broke out and never got cleared up until I stopped using it. For my sister she brokeout than cleared up. You have to use it consistently or it doesn't work. The toner made my skin burn.

It is a waste of money. Yes it does work for some people but not many. No, no, no, no!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
