I have few acne. Occasionally I would get one here and there a month. But I really wanted clear skin and after reading much hype on Clinique's 3 Step System I went got it. I am Asian and have combination skin. After 1 night and two morning of using the 3 step system, my face immediately broke out into a rash, CLUSTERS of tiny white heads all over my face. Lots in my chin area and forehead which were the areas that has the most oil on my face. My entire face feels itchy, dry, and just irritating. I immediately returned the product. I have no idea what to do now but wait for it to clear. I'm too scared to use any other type of product while I have this outbreak. I'm just washing my face with water until it's gone. If anyone know how to clear it please post in this form, I will check back. Thank you!

Cons:

Did not rid skin of blemishes.

Did not follow through with promises!

Pros:

+ smells good

Cons:

-bleaches towels&clothing;-caused more breakouts;-caused more oil production;-made my face itchy;-way too pricey;-ineffective;-stopped working;-clogged my pores like nobody's business

This stuff is CRAP!!!Complete RUBBISH! I am muc happier with retin-a and dove soap. Proactiv is way too overhyped.

Pros:

Made my skin better...face feels clean when first applied

Cons:

Dries badly...i had to get jojoba oil which fixes it up when its on, but when i dont moistuize it's terrible! very expensive and looks nothing like on the ads

Just recieved my 2nd kit,as i thought id give it 2 more months chance...it hasnt completly cleared up skin and i still get little white pimples, but i guess it is better...only problem is that the light in my bathroom makes my skin LOOK clear and tanned, but other mirrors in natural light make it look red and really brings out the acne..so im not sure how good it is...but it has made some difference...but nothing like on the ads!!! ill report back after 4 months....p.s ive also changed to using it at night only coz i have no time in the mornings and i dont want the shiny skin jojoba oil gives me at school

Pros:

Goes on great and you get your moneys worth. Does a great job in healing pimples. Just remember, patience is a virtue.

Cons:

Slow shipping time but it's worth the wait.

This works, just give it time. In the morning I found that mixing the BP gel with the Cetaphil lotion worked really well in having the BP sink in my skin as well as it not drying it out.

Pros:

I like how it goes on, way better than on the spot

Cons:

I just ran out!

Great value

Pros:

No fragance, one tube lasts for couple of months, goes on clear! It actually works!

Cons:

Drying at first.

I've been using Dan's 2.5% gel for 8 months now and it works great. Other than oxy face wash, nothing has really worked that well for me. I now use only Dan's bp gel and the new gentle cleanser. Both last a really long time compared to drugstore products. It's very economical. You have to use it religiously though. If I skip for a couple of days, my skin starts to act up again. The first month or so, my skin became really dry because it was getting used to the bp but it does go away and your skin gets used to it. I have light to moderate acne and I highly recommend this product!!!

Pros:

Amazing results and clearer looking skin in little time!

Cons:

I have kind of had a burning sensation on my face, especially right after I apply the product

I have been using this for only 2 days and I am very impressed with the way my skin is looking so far. I was using a prescription treatment prescribed by a dermatologist, but that wasn't working. The dermatologist prescribed me this and I'm extremely excited with how well it is working! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to quickly clear up their skin!

Pros:

Really helped clear up my skin. Lessened cystic acne, but didn't prevent it altogether. Lessened the duration of breakouts.

Cons:

Became too drying on my skin as I've gotten older. BP discolors clothing and linens. Ultimately contributed to increase in sunspots (even with SPF oil free moisturizer). Had to stop using.

I definitely recommend this product to teens and folks in their 20s and even 30s. It sure helped for me, and yes, it's a bit pricey (especially with shipping), but cheaper than a dermatologist. Once I passed 35, it seemed to be too much for my skin. Make sure you protect your skin with sunscreen when using this product!! You're much more sensitive to the sun when using this regularly.

Pros:

it works and it works amazingly. of the 3 2.5% bp's ive tried (ots/proactiv's) the gel is my favorite for application, goes on smooth and easily and leaves no extra residue.

Cons:

none

i've been on the regimen for about a month now, using OTS and my old leftover Proactiv BP, and the regimen has been working somewhat well, but i was still getting a few breakouts here and there. Im not sure if it was Dan's gel or just timing, but as soon as i started using his gel i stopped getting ANY new pimples (1 week so far) and my current ones are going down rediculously fast. I only have 2 remaining pimples which are on their way out fast. this product is so good..as close to a 'miracle' cream as i've ever found..

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
