Pros:

-Clean feeling
-Gets rid of oil
-Nice to have the cleanser, toner, and cream companions

Cons:

-Very drying if used as directed
-Skip a day and you will break out worse than ever

I never had horrible acne, but enough to feel embarrassed. All kinds of concealing creams and whatnot made my skin look even worse. My goal was to find a product that would allow me to wear no foundation, powder, or anything and still feel confident. Got ProActiv because of its reputation and 3-step innovation. I feel that overall, ProActiv is average. I've found that it does not prevent breakouts, but does help clear up existing ones more quickly. I've never had blackheads until I started using this product, so I think ProActiv caused them. Can't use it more than once a day or my skin becomes very dry-looking. If I get lazy or I am out late at night, and I haven't washed my face, it starts to get very gross and pimply. I think this is a withdrawal kind of symptom from the product. Be careful.

Pros:

Worked well for a while...

Cons:

Acne got worse for the first two days... then cleared up. Now after 2 months its litterally stopped working, it might have even made my face worse.

Im not going to be one of those people that say " it doesnt work for me so it wont work for anyone" that being said give it a try.

Pros:

clears acne up pretty quick and not too drying

Cons:

does not prevent future breakouts all that well. At first it clears up mostly everything but after awhile breakouts comeback. My forehead cleared up pretty quick but a month later it came back lighter though not good on blackheads. Drys up a little

i would give it a try, depends on severity. mild to light it should be good but not strong enough for severe acne.

Pros:

none so far (almost 1 month into it)

Cons:

skin occasionally gets severely dry patches
lotion does not dispense well out of the bottle
skin is way worse after 1 month than previous

I am on the fence about cancelling my membership. After 1 full month, my cheeks are covered in painful red bumps that sometimes prove to be filled with disgusting pus. I am afraid to stop too early (like maybe I am going through the "it gets worse before it gets better" phase), and maybe I should just tough it out, but I really really hate the way it makes my skin look.

Pros:

I can tell it really works, The condition of my skin has gotten better and i've only been using it for like 4 days!!!

Cons:

It works best if you have oily skin, if you dont then stock up on moisturizers.

ok so on a scal of 1-10 my acne problem was a 7.5, so thats kinda bad, but nowhere near clear! I have literrally tried everything on the market: differin, proactiv, cearasil, neutrogena, etc. and nothings worked this quick, but it is pretty early in, so i'll be sure to keep you updated.

Pros:

It made my zits dissapear over night.

Cons:

It made me brake out into this HUGE red rash. almost like it had burnt my skin!

I did not think the i had sensitive skin in the slightest.. Then I used this product. It worked well the first week, making my zits vanish over night. Then it gave me this rash like burn. It burns and itches and is SO red!! If you have even the slightest of sensitive skin do not use this!!!

Pros:

Worked Very well for first 5-6 months. Acne nearly gone.

Cons:

After 6 months, acne came back worse than ever.

Works well at first, but I think your skin gets used to the Benzoyl peroxide
August 12, 2008

Pros:

clears up bumps in less than two days
i see a major difference, it shrinks the bump very quickly

Cons:

dries skin, leaves white residue

it's really helpful for big pimples, or small groups of bumps.... i usually put the gel on my face at night or if i'm staying inside, just a little on the bump

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
