Pros:

Prevents breakouts
Really Works
Good clean feeling

Cons:

Slightly drying, need moisturizer afterwards.

I only use this once a day (at night) because my skin is a little too sensitive to be using it twice a day, but WOW. It WORKS. It really does what it says, it definitely prevents breakouts, less worry, more confidence. Buy it.

Pros:

The product.. it did nothing! No, but seriously. Zero pros.

Cons:

I believe it actually made my acne worse.

This product did not work for me at all. I purchased it because I could not afford Proactiv, and was under the impression it was one of the better skin companies out there. I believe the lack of a benzoyl peroxide cleanser is what did me in, but I can't be certain. Either way, even with an astringent introduced it did not work. Not even a little bit. To boot, after the few months of using the product I have more scarring than I ever did before. While the price was right, there were zero results and the product only made me MORE self-conscious about my skin.

Pros:

The product was absolutely wonderful. After years of no luck with anything, including prescription products, Proactiv cleared up my skin rather quickly.

Cons:

I could not afford it! The only reason I was able to use it in the first place was it was, for unknown reasons, being sent to my apartment for someone who did not live there so I happily made use of it.

I loved it, but unfortunately couldn't afford it. Once I ran out, that was it. Its effects continued for a month or so, then my skin went back to what it had been before.. bad. The only other adverse effect I had was when winter came, my skin dried out to a painful degree. I have a feeling that this was due to a combination of the product and having to walk 20 minutes to my job daily while living in Upstate New York, but I can never be certain. If it had been within my budget, I never would have stopped using this. Also, please note despite what I wrote, I DID NOT EVER PAY FOR THIS PRODUCT. I just couldn't post the review unless I said I paid something.

Pros:

Works for awhile like a week or two at most.

Cons:

After a week your skin becomes dry as hell, and kinda becomes immune to it and ends up only drying your skin out further.

works great for a week then sucks. nasty smell too see your docter for something because their stuff has been tested

Pros:

got rid of my acne in less than a week! seriously, this stuff is super good

Cons:

stings for about 3 minutes after putting on, also, after about 5 days of using it 3 times a day the area got very dry.

great product. works quickley and would always always use it if my acne came back

Pros:

Refreshing and helps clear acne.

Cons:

If you dry your face on a towel it will bleach it and if you wash the towel with your clothes it will bleach it too. That happened to be and then almost all of my shirts got stained!

It's a pretty good product but if you want your clothes to stay the same don't use it!

Pros:

Clears bumpyness and reduces amount of cysts. Any pimples that may develop heal in 24 hours not weeks as when not using proactiv.

Cons:

May take a while to really work.

Try for > month and you should see results.

Pros:

Great product! Great Results! only 30 days!

Cons:

So expensive (in Italy 59.90€)

I love Proactiv! I had acne for 5 years on my shoulders, pet and back. In Italy there is only the Gentle Formula (with salicylic acid and retinol instead of BP). After 30 days, using 3 step kit morning and night, my acne is COMPLETELY clear and my spots are gone!! And I had severe acne with papules and cysts and red spots..I love it!

Pros:

Cleared my bacne

Cons:

doesn't seem to be doing anything to my face yet

I've been using this for about 2 weeks i had moderate bacne. A bunch of scars but after 2 weeks I've found that i stopped breaking out on my back. My face is just very dry after using it. I have yet to find a good solution for my face. I am currently using Baking Soda, Oxy maximum face wash, aloe face and hands soap, and cetaphil moisturizer everyday.

Pros:

Dries up the zit

Cons:

Dries up the skin, doesn't really work for me.

Everyone says it works for them, but it hasn't done anything for me. It's probably my skin type, my sister uses it and it works for her.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
