Pros:

Actually my acne cleared up for a while

Cons:

Dries skin, acne came back, and when I tried to wear makeup while using the product I began to break out again. My acne is now worse than ever and I stopped using the product because it is horrible

Don't buy it because you get what you pay for. You think you're going to get the cure for 20 bucks and you end up getting worse.

Pros:

It works.

Cons:

When it first came out, it was too liquid, but they've made it more viscous now, so it's perfect.

This is the best stuff out there.

Pros:

It works quickly to remove pimples and doesn't leave red spots on the skin, unlike other medications I've tried.

Cons:

The product is drying but very effective on my oily skin. The container is too small for the price, and I usually have to open the container with scissors to get the rest of the cream out when I'm running out.

I used Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash 2x a day and this product once-a-day at night. It cleared my skin in a little less than 2 months. I use the product consistently once a day everyday and haven't gotten a serious zit since.

Pros:

the refining mask does reduce the size of large pimples but leaves your skin irritably dry and flakey

Cons:

dries out skin to it's maximum dryness potential! makes it flakey! burns to wash you face! waaaayyyy too expensive and super small bottles!

it sucks don't waste your money!

Pros:

Cleared my acne up for a few days.

Cons:

made my hace have more acne than ive ever had before.

When i first started using this i only had two or threee zits that i jsut wanted to get rid of. When i first used this it worked great, then after about dat 4 it made a rash type area show up on both of my cheeks and made me get these big bumps! and i never get acne on my cheeks! it also dried out my chin really bad.

Pros:

seems to help

Cons:

BLEACHES THE COLOR OUT OF TOWELS!!! THERE SHOULD BE A MORE PROMINENT WARNING IN THE LITERATURE ---- I'VE RUINED A WHOLE SET OF TOWELS, THINKING THAT IT WAS THE TIDE W/BLEACH THAT WAS DOING IT

HEY PROACTIV! HOW ABOUT A BIG WARNING RIGHT AT T

Pros:

skin looks better after first use; not neccessarily clearer, but better. after about two weeks you will notice that less new spots are occuring.

Cons:

i almost gave up on this because i developed a rash under my bottom lip because of this. but if you rinse well, and make sure none is left on, you should be able to avoid red irritated flaking skin. try using it in the shower.

good stuff. make sure to rinse well. It doesnt eliminate acne, but it does control it pretty well. my skin looks better than before.

Pros:

When it works, it works. Nice mask.

Cons:

Works VERY inconsistently, bullsh*t prices and small bottles.

TOO inconsistent, too expensive, and won't KEEP your face clean. Pass.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
