Pros:

It made my skin break out for the first month but thats just its way of pulling out the impurities. After it pulled the impurites out, my face cleared up quick and is still clear.

Cons:

It takes amonth to see results.

Proactive is going to work great for some people and not for others. people just need to give it a try and not judge the way it works in just the first few weeks but wait a month or two so your skin can get used to it.

Pros:

Cleared up my acne really well.

Cons:

Sometimes it burns a little but not much. And you have to remember to put on sunscreen before going outside when you use this product.

This product is great. I never really breakout much but when i do it's awful. I got this product and it cleared my skin like within a day. I got mine at a high end cosmetics store so it was kinda expensive but you can find it cheaper.

Pros:

worked really fast!

Cons:

dried up my lips and burned my eyes lol

i hardly had acne just a few bumps on my head and when i used MURAD that sh*t fu*ked up my face! it says all the bad crap surfaces it up and starts to clear your face. nothing worked it made my face worse, so I used PROACTIV and even PROACTIV EXTRA STRENGTH! it got me no where as well. I've used so many different products that costed me so much money. who knew 3 bucks (yes, the bar of PanOxyl was just 3 bucks) gave me a dramatic change within days. I was never confident on going out because of my face filled with acne and scarring. it has seriously changed my life. I recommend it, but just use alot of moisturizer or lotion if needed. I've suffered for so long. Just give it a try, you have nothing to lose. 3 years of suffering with acne and lack of confidence, all gone within days. and it gets better and better! as days pass and my acne clears up, I'm getting my confidence back. I could kiss they guy or whoever invented this! PanOxyl is a miracle that's under 10 bucks. hahaha

Pros:

Affordable, pills taste like nothing, it works!

Cons:

I haven't found any yet.

I've been using this for 2 weeks, and I've seen improvement already. I was using BP before I started this, so I didn't experience the drying...I'd already been through that! By far, this is the best product I've found.

Pros:

I sent off for this product hoping it would help my skin, and it did .. for a while. It goes on really clear and vanishes nicely. I don't have huge cysts like I used to.

Cons:

It's too expensive for me to get regularly. And the bottle pump-cap broke within 15 minutes of me opening the package. And after three months my acne has started to get really bad again.

This is probably the most effective product I've ever used on my skin. I use it exactly like Dan has prescribed. But it is definitely not a cure-all. I would say I am perhaps 35 to 40% more clear than I used to be. (Something is better than nothing!) So thank you Dan.

Pros:

????

Cons:

Didn't make my acne better! Extremely drying!

I have REALLY oily skin and nothing I use can possibly dry me out...at least thats what I thought! The Panoxyl bar made my face really dry. It started peeling and even moisturizers didn't really help. I couldn't even talk or smile properly because the skin around my mouth felt like it was gonna rip and bleed if I moved it to much. I stopped using it for a couple of days and my skin went back to its normal oilyness. After I started it again, I guess my became immune to its drying effects because it never dried out like that again. You just have to make sure to only use it on the your forehead cheeks and chin (or wherever else you need it). Make sure not to get it anywhere near your eyes or the area around your mouth. In the end it didn't clear me up or make my acne even temporarily better.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
