Pros:

cheap, can buy it in a store

Cons:

irritating formula

I was using proactiv, but it was expensive, so I tried this instead. Big mistake. waste of money. the cleanser is too runny, and it spills out of the container. it also has no scubbies like proactiv. the toner bottle leaks and leaked all over my things when travelling. and even though it was alcohol free, it burned and irritated the heck out of my face, and turned it red. ouch. the lotion was too heavy feeling and didnt dry fast, felt sticky. I never had any of these problems with Proactiv. Its not worth the $$ you save, proactiv is so much better and worth the extra money. the cleanser is the only thing OK about this set, but like I said, I like some exfoliation.

Pros:

uhhhhh..

Cons:

uhhhhhh

so my roomate has no problems with acne but he got one pimple and went to the mall and bought an $80 dollar 6 piece kit of pro active. Im 18 and have not had problems with acne before but for about 4 months it was horrible. so i was like, yoooooo aaron ill let you use my sunglasses if i can use your pro active. i figured it would work since they had commercials about it every 2 seconds. so i started using it and now i am seeing positive resulst fosho. im not having any problems with dryed skin. if you buy pro active you need to make sure to get the kit that comes with the moisturizors because if your skin is too dry, your pores create excess oil to make up more it. we all know that the main cause of acne is oil so overdrying your face is the last thing you want to do. i relize i have mis spelled a few words here, but its ok. so proactive does work as long as you keep yo gangsta face mostorized!!! WHOOO YEahhh go pro active. acne sucks and i know this. i had no life when i had it.

Pros:

High quality product, low price.

Cons:

Only the bleaching effect it has on pillows (but that happens with all BP products)

I switched to this BP cream from OXY 'On-The-Spot' 2.5% and have been please the whole time using the OXY cream, it was just very expensive. This gel has been working just as well, and at a much better price. Even delivery to the UK was only 5 days. I'm probably saving $40 a month swapping to this gel. Cheers! -another Dan :)

An awful medication.

Pros:

My face was much less shiny and oily on the surface.

Cons:

My breakouts got much, much worse, and my face was more irritated.

I tried Proactiv after a myriad of other products and treatments. In the end, my face was much more broken out and inflamed. The cleanser, with its exfoliating grains, is too irritating. The toner doesn't seem to do much, however, it does contain aloe, which can actually be an irritant to those with rather sensitive skin. The mask, which contains sulfur, smells awful, and I've read that sulfur can actually make acne worse. The Daily Oil Control did a good job of controlling oil, but it's made in a silicone base, which can actually plug up one's pores. It did MUCH more harm to my skin than good.

Pros:

it got my face to a certain point and held it there... CHAMOMILE TEA!!! 3 times a day wash your face with warm chamomile tea... not only gets rid of pimples, but it gives you the color back in your skin.. amazing old remedy

Cons:

Proactiv: overdry, but that works for me.
Chamomile Tea: FREAKIN AWESOME

its aiiiiiight

Pros:

Nothing!

Cons:

Makes acne worse...

Bottom line is this; do not buy this product. I started using it b/c I sometimes have that occasional pimple. I have never had three or more at a time on my face. Now that I have starting using this product my face is covered with them!!! I can't even look in the mirror. In addition to this, it makes your skin feel stretched and gross. I think this product might only be good for those people with excessive oily skin. I recently landed a great job and was hoping that this "miracle" product would get rid of those random minor pimples. Instead, it made eveyrthing worse! Please don't buy it, or if you have it and are doubting it, return it. It was a waste of time and money!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
