A way of using benzoyl peroxide in combination with the topical retinoid, adapalene, that studies show works a bit better than benzoyl peroxide alone. Comes with side effects for the first weeks and can bleach fabric. Note: When used correctly, benzoyl peroxide on its own can completely clear the skin.

Works but very irritating
Like the title says, very irritating but fair enough for mild to moderate acne. And since it causes skin flaking(at least for me),it gave me hypermigmentation.

Be Patient
The first few months were rough as my sensitive skin adjusted. I started out applying the EpiDuo once every 3 nights, and eventually moved to applying it every night. It look time for the redness to go away, but so worth it. I have been using EpiDuo for over 2 years now and my skin has never looked better. People actually compliment my complexion! I am now going off EpiDuo because the price has been increasing for me each time I refill. Bummer!

You can get a generic benzoyl peroxide gel and a generic retinoid and just rotate them every other night to save money.

My little pot of Miracle Cream!
After struggling with Acne for years during my high school years, I was determined to get it under control by any means necessary before I started university. But I tried every over the counter remedy I could find... And University, Semester 1 came and went. Suddenly, one doctor told me about Epiduo (no other doctor had ever described it to me before) and ever since then (2 years ago now) I have no acne what so ever. I occasionally get a spot, but maybe once a month or less. And it had results very quickly! Within a week there was a very noticeable change. IMPORTANT: in the beginning of the treatment I applied way way to much; and this actually caused more Acne from irritation alone. I used it twice a day and a large amount, and it made things worse. As soon as I started to use it once a day at night, and only a very small "pea-sized" amount I had drastic results. I think this product is great as the "treatment" phase of the Acne.org Regimen. It has none of the comedogenic ingredients from the list available here online, and its very neutral in small quantities. To wash my face I use: Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser (buy it at Coles, Chemist Warehouse, Woolies, etc.) To treat my face: Epiduo (only at night! and a small amount) To moisturise my face: Acne.org Moisturiser This regime with Epiduo is based on the Acne.org Regime. So now, with a new face free of acne, I recommend it to all to give it a try as a relatively cheap cream. PROS - Quick to see results. - Works on mild acne. - Cheap (only $5.95 if you have a HealthCare Card in Australia; however it is ~$36 on the PBS with Medicare and thats for anyone.) - Each tube/pump lasts about a month. CONS - very easy to use too much and make things worse. - can be expensive for people without a HealthCare Card. - You have to get a doctors prescription for it (Max repeat on each prescription is x3). - makes you more prone to sunburn, reddening of the face. - not all pharmacies or chemists stock the cream.

Hi, did you wear any makeup during the treatment process?

BE CAREFUL
I'm the type of person who never worries about treatments drying out my skin because it's just so damn oily you could cook an egg on it, and nothing ever dries out my skin. Except this bloody cream. It sucked all the moisture out of my skin like a death eater, I had dried up itchy red skin and flaking scaley skin on the corners of my mouth from where my whole face was dried out. It was horrific. The saddest part about my red lizard face is that I still had acne. So please use this with caution and use the smallest amount only on the places you need it and don't use it all the time.

Cystic Acne, oh my.
Never have I ever experience cystic acne until I used this product. I tried to stick it out because everyone says "it gets worse before it gets better" - but lifetime scars that were out of the ordinary for my skin was absolutely not worth it to me. I still have the scars on my face from the two cystic acne lesions this caused on my face. Never again. I know it works miracles for some people, but I am not one of them.

Really works!
I use Epiduo (Tactuo in Canada) alongside with Diane 35 to help control my hormonal acne. With the pill alone, I still manage to get a couple of pimples a month, especially before my period. Epiduo helps get rid of existing spots as well as preventing any new ones. Every night I use one pump of the stuff for my entire face and I never need any more. I did get a bit of an initial breakout but it wasn't bad. What I didn't anticipate was how red my skin would get. I think after 2-3 weeks the redness/IB subsided and I was starting to see results. It's also helped lighten up my PIH. One warning though, when you first start using it, it definitely thins your skin out. I was doing 40% lactic acid peels and I didn't take that into account - ended up giving myself a little burn. I've been using Epiduo for half a year now so I can do my peels without any damage, but beware!

Amazing for Comedonal Acne!!!!
My first week on it, I was putting way too much on my skin was burning like crazy! I took a couple days off and tried again. You should only use ONCE a day. I use on and off with regular benzoyl peroxide and after two months has almost gotten rid of all of my comedonal acne!! My skin looks so much younger. I started seeing results after the first month when all of my comedonal acne was unplugging and becoming black heads. for my hormonal cystic acne I have been using yaz and so far it has seemed to be working really well. if you haven't seen your GP or Dermatologist for acne, go now!!

Three months later and I no longer need to wear make up, Epiduo is amazing for comedonal acne, it has cleared it up completely! Epiduo and Yaz saved my life. I wish I would have gone to the derm so much sooner.

It works! took 5 months but I don't have a single pimple
It really works, this product saved my skin. It took a long around 5 months for my skin to clear but it was worth it. I was getting huge painful cysts all over my chin (mainly hormonal acne) and it felt like every pore was clogged. I'd have 5+ active pimples most of the time, but I was scared to try accutane because of the risk of side effects. When I first tried Epiduo I applied too much and my skin burned and peeled and was incredibly painful. I gave up after a few days because of the pain, but decided to try it again. The second time I only used a THIRD of a pea sized amount for my chin and my upper lip, and even with this little amount it burned and peeled and sucked for around 3 months. (I was also on an oral antibiotic, so this may have helped with some of the healing) My skin SUCKED during the first two months; it was worse than it ever was and I was so discouraged. Epiduo literally pushes out everything from your skin, and seeing as all my pores were clogged, it caused so many pimples and whiteheads. It was a hard few months, but now my skin has heeled and all I'm left with is some red marks!! I don't have a single whitehead or pimple. I didn't see any results until the 4th month, so don't give up hope too soon! I recommend using a very mild cleanser and make sure you moisturize twice a day (I used cetaphil gentle cleanser and cetaphil heavy moisturizer)

PLEASE listen to your skin!
I used TactuPump for about 12 weeks and my skin was literally raw. I've never had such inflamed and terrible acne in my life. It was awful. I started out with just mild acne and after reading such positive reviews about TactuPump, I decided to give it a try. I regret it SO much. My jawline was especially bad. I couldn't look in the mirror for weeks. I went to the doctor and he told me to stop using it because my skin had a very bad reaction to it. I thought I could tough it out to see if it would get better, but it was just getting worse and worse every single day. I was very upset every morning, waking up seeing my acne getting worse. Even after stopping, the acne never got better. So I ended up with worse skin than when I started. Eventually, I went on Accutane (40g dosage) and that was only thing that cured my skin. Long story short, please please please listen to your skin. I kept waiting to see if it would get better, because reviews were saying that it was just your skin purging, but I really regret waiting that long before realizing that the product just wasn't fit for my skin. Terrible experience, but at the end of the day, I found a solution that cleared up the acne that TactuPump had brought out. This product may work for some, but unfortunately, it did not for me.

Epiduo for hormonal acne
I had bad acne as a teen and it cleared up when I hit 23. I am now 26 and bc of my migraines my doc won't let me have estrogen based b.c. and gave me mirena (depo shot or implanon were my other options both of which all contain the same hormone as mirena-progestrone) . Worst acne of my life!! On my face back chest shoulders everywhere. I stuck with it for 1 year then got it taken put two weeks ago I have polycystic ovarian syndrome so I also must stay on b.c. or else I get csysts. Right now I am off all b.c... derm has me on 1 100mg doxyclycine twice daily and epiduo every or every other night. My skin has already improved and it's been almost 2 weeks. I don't have any new acne on my chest or back and maybe just 2 or 3 new pimples on my face but for the most part everything is going away! It was terrible along my jawline and I only have like 2 pimples there now. It does burn now even applying any moisturizer but I've been using it every day so I'm going to kick back to once every other day to help with the dryness. Love this product so far!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
