Pros:

clears up acne!

Cons:

none!

I'm 35 and started having acne problems a few years ago- never in high school, but now as an adult :( I've tried tons of medications, creams, washes, etc for my acne. This is the first time that a product has really worked for me. I broke out really bad the first week of use, but after that my face has been pretty clear. I do still get one or two spots prior to my cycle, but the epiduo helps it go away quickly. I also use clarisonic w/ proactive to cleanse my face (twice a day) as well as using epiduo twice a day. My face is really oily so I didn't have any issues w/ dryness, flaking or redness.

Pros:

Reduces amount of acne
No initial breakout (if gradually introduced)
Not very irritating

Cons:

None so far

I highly recommend trying Epiduo to anyone with mild to moderate acne. I found that if it is gradually introduced to the skin there is minimal irritation and initial breakout. I also like that the adapalene component increases the absorption of clindamycin into the pore.

Pros:

-clears up all acne
-works fast
-leave skin perfect

Cons:

-may burn
-may irritate

If you have acne and you want to get rid of it use Epiduo. I recommend it to everyone because it worked for me. I used it the first time like 2 years ago and I fell in love. It cleared up all my acne and stopped using it. This year my acne came back and I instantly went back to using it. And its only been like a week or two and its already clearing my face. And yes it might burn your skin and feel irritated but it is worth it. Plus you are not suppose to put it constantly on in areas where you have no acne!

Pros:

Ance is gone
Keeps away acne
Slightly fades scars

Cons:

Stings

Yes. It stings. But you know what hurts worse? Being ashamed to go out in public with acne. Epiduo changed my life. Seriously. I haven't had a pimple in MONTHS. I used to have moderately severe acne. Only use this is your serious about clearing your skin and do not mind a little burning or stinging. It's not that bad anyways.

Pros:

-reduces redness to a light pink color
-clears cysitc acne almost right away
-clears other acne in about 2 days

Cons:

-dryness
-redness
-burning
-makes every thing you put on it sting

Ive only been using this for about 3 days and im already satisfied my acne is WAY better already, however my chin is red and irritated for about an hour or so after using it i have no idea why its only on my chin. At first i used it with neutrogena oil free acne wash because it what my dermatologist told me to use but i found that using it combined with epiduo made the side effects even worse so now i use it with the cetaphil gentle cleansing bar and the redness and dyness arnt as bad, overall i think its a good product except for the side effects. But even angels have flaws!!!

I have had a very good experience with the Epiduo product. It cleared my acne, and also helped my overall smoothness of my skin. And has cleared most of my scars.

Pros:

dries out pimples
helps cystic/hormonal acne

Cons:

can be drying if not used properly
MUST exfoliate to get rid of dead skin from the retin-a

My dermatologist prescribed me Epiduo two weeks ago for my horrible cystic/hormonal acne. I have been suffering from this ever since I went off of birth control about 4 months ago but it was really bad about 3 weeks ago when I was about to begin my cycle. I was at a complete loss!! I have been using natural/organic products on my face because I believe the stuff they sale in drugstores and department stores are scams and that natural products are WAYYY better for our skin. I really did not want to go back on BP products because I had used those in the past and it never really got rid of all my acne and later on it made my acne terrible which is when I stopped using it around February of this year. I am extremely cautious with the prescriptions my doctors prescribe topically because I know my cystic acne is caused by a HORMONE IMBALANCE. Nothing you put on your skin is going to fix that and it must be fixed internally, not with creams you put on your face. So while I still have been getting acne spots because of THAT problem, the epiduo has been working well so far! Only complaint is that the cell turnover caused by the retin-A made my pores on my forehead, chin, and nose get EXTREMELY clogged with dead skin cells. Biore pore strips and Indian Healing Clay mask w/apple cider vinegar saved my life. My routine: (morning) wash face with my dermatologist's green tea facial wash (his own line of products) DIY Toner with bragg's applecider vinegar, green tea, distilled water, few tablespoons of witch hazel; applied all over my face with a few drops of 100% tea tree oil--this makes your skin tingle and feel AMAZING apply a dime/nickel size of jojoba oil depending on my skins needs large pea-sized amount of Coppertone sensitive skin sunscreen (Night) remove eyemakeup with J&J baby soap and splash face with warm water keeping face slightly damp, apply organic honey all over face with cinnamon (let sit for 20+minutes) then wash off apply epiduo

Pros:

Works eventually
Very easy

Cons:

Dries face w/o moisterizer
Expensive
Breaks you out at first

I use the CeraVe cleanser, apply the product, and then use the CeraVe PM moisterizer. Epiduo is made to break you out first, and then clear you up. On the first couple days of use, I've noticed my redness going down. After about a week I could see more pimples showing up. Now it's slowly removing them entirely.

Pros:

Easy to use
Reduces redness
Helps with cystic acne
Dryness isn't too bad with moisturizer
It's effective

Cons:

Will dry if you dont use moisturizer
Initial breakout
Burns skin when you wear makeup after washing your face
Gets worse before it gets better

Been suffering with acne for 5+ years now. I've been on Epiduo for about 3 weeks now. First few days I noticed it reduced my redness. After another few days I experienced drying and mild peeling. About close to 2 weeks in the initial breakout started, which is the worst but I know it means the product is working. I'm coming up on my 3rd week now and the initial breakout is slowing down and not as bad, more redness is reducing and inflammation is reducing. I suffered with some cystic acne on one side of my face and that is starting to go away as well and I'm very pleased! I'm going to continue to use this product and hopfully within the next few weeks I will see even better results. I highly recommened this product.

Pros:

-Dryness
-Flaking
-Causes breakouts

Cons:

-It works!
-Keeps breakouts from happening

This stuff works. The first month is a little rough, but after that, it really works. I wanted to share a little secret about the dryness and flaking. My skin was really bad Epiduo made my skin dry and peel all day. No amount of moisturizer really helped. (i'm not getting payed to say any of this) I bought the Oatifix Fresh Face Mask from LUSH Cosmetics, and after the first use of this stuff, my skin was no longer dry, nor did it flake, at all! This is an amazing product if you're experiencing dryness/flaking. Its only about 7 bucks. Go give it a try. The combination of Epiduo and Oatifix made my skin great, and stopped breakouts all together.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
