Pros:

Deeps cleans, tightens pores, skin feels fresh and clean after using it

Cons:

none. The smell doesn't bother me.

I started having oily skin, and was breaking out like crazy. So I decided to use witch hazel. I have used it in my teen years and it worked fantasic. Now, i'm using it again. I wash my face twice a day with St.Ives green tea cleanser, followed up with witch hazel. I use a lotion on my face rarely. Any lotion with break me out. I'm hoping my skin with be less red in a few weeks, before I graduate from college. This stuff makes face feel clean, makes skin brighter, and leaves your skin with a glow! Try it out, if you were like me, and have tried every product out there, what do you have to lose? Witch hazel is cheap, so you aren't spending big bucks to have it flush down the toilet. Try it!!

Pros:

Cheap, Effective

Cons:

Drying, like most if not all toners

Witch hazel is an effective toner -- it's actually an ingredient in most other toners. I find that my skin is too dry to use this product, even when I follow with moisturizer, but I definitely recommend it to girls with normal to oily skin. The smell isn't terrible -- it smells sort of earthy and natural, but a little strong. Once it's on your skin, the smell goes away pretty quickly. If you NEED a toner, then I definitely think Witch Hazel is the way to go. I now use it to sooth insect bites! It doesn't sting at all and you can apply it as often as you need. It really takes the annoying itch away and soothes the bump :)

Pros:

Got rid of my acne and my skin felt smooth

Cons:

the smell

The only reason I purchased this was because it stated right on the bottle that it is used for facial cleansing. My intentions were to purchase alcohol (which doesn't work - but if alcohol can't clean the skin what can?) The very first time I used this my skin felt very smooth. I woke up the next morning and my acne started to disappear. I thought it just must be a coincidence, cause it couldn't possibly work that fast. I have been using it for 2 days and have noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. My pores are tighter, acne is starting to go away. Now just waiting to see if it helps to keep the returning acne from coming back. I thought it was just me over reacting about this product, until i read others comments about their pores being smaller also

Pros:

cleared up my body acne, cheap, huge bottle lasts a while, doesn't stain not sting

Cons:

takes a little time to work

For months I had a rash-like breakout all along my chest. It cropped up suddenly once my face became clear for some reason (compensatory acne?) I didn't want to use anything harsh, so I tried Witch Hazel. It took a good couple of weeks, but used twice per day, it has cleared my chest acne completely!

Pros:

Treats Acne, Treats Irritation, Treats Sunburns, Treats Itchy Mosquito Bites, Smells Pretty Good, Shrinks Pores, Removes Leftover Makeup

Cons:

None so far, you're silly if you complain about the smell. I'm 14, have had acne for almost 6 years, and I have never complained about the smell of a product. If it's goal is to help me, then smell is not a factor, the quality of how well it works is.

I had boughten a cheap bottle of witch hazel for the dollar store down the street last year, and used it for a few days. It worked like crap. I stopped using it as a toner, then used it as a spot treatment, still didn't do anything. So, then I washed my face with it. That helped with redness, I guess. I didn't finish that bottle, by the way. Dumped it out. I had gotten sunburns and bug bites, and my mom suggested witch hazel. I said okay, and picked it up at Wal-Mart for about $1.56. I put it in my moisturizer, my face washes (I have a morning and night one), and I've been using this witch hazel as a toner for the sunburns, bug bites and my acne. It's done wonders. The bites aren't itchy, they're gone. Sunburns are basically gone, and they didn't even peel. And my acne's going down like crazy. This is magical. I highly recommend this. Do watch for how much witch hazel is it it. Read the "Drug Facts" section on the back of the bottle. If it says there's 86% of witch hazel or higher, you're good to go! (:

Cheap and effective! Perfect

Pros:

Very inexpensive cost me like .65 cents
Effective on killing active acne
Easy to use.

I use this daily am and pm. I don't dilute it or anything in just dab some on a cotton balls and use it as an astringent it dries up active acne which I love! Makes my skin feel nice and doesn't dry me out!

Pros:

- Feels cool and refreshing
- Tones down redness and irritation
- Evens out skin tone and shine
- Makes face feel ultra soft and smooth

Cons:

- Can't think of any!

I've been using this for almost a week and I can already say I love it. It does not really help with removing or reducing acne, but it's an amazing skin toner/softener/calmer. My skin feels like a baby's, and looks calmer than is almost possible when you have acne. Now when I apply make-up my face looks and feels absolutely lovely. This is a great and natural way to improve skin tone and balance. I would highly recommend it to anyone, with or without acne. I know several reviews state they had problems with the smell, but I personally haven't had any. It's wonderful!

like it
I like this. I use it instead of a toner to help with my oily skin and let tell you ever since ive been using it not only is my skin less oily. It also is wonderful to have as a first aid ingredient for small irritations and insect bites etc. as it can help with inflammation and itching.A great product to have around.

Pros:

-Very refreshing!

-Doesn't irritate skin in any way like most toners/astringents

-Effectively cleans pores

-Picks up what your cleanser may have left behind

-Great when used as an aftershave!

Cons:

Some brands contain rubbing (non-natural) alcohol. Most all brands use alcohol to preserve the Witch Hazel, but only some brands use natural alcohol that doesn't burn, sting, and dry out your skin. Whatever the case may be, it still doesn't contain near the amount of alcohol that most toners/astringents do, therefore it's perfect for everyone's skin!

I'm an R.N. (future Nurse Practitioner) and I recommend this to any and all people as a toner, astringent, and/or aftershave! I use it myself--it's MUCH cheaper than any of those expensive products on the store shelves that are loaded with alcohol as the main ingredient. So, what are you waiting for? Go buy some now!

Try it..
So I decided to use this product after the lady who did my eyebrows recommended it to me. I guess she saw how bad I was breaking out and told me that it helped with the inflammation. I decided to pick one up at my local drug store and used it that night. I didn't see a big difference the first day but after two or three days my skin got way better. It doesn't totally get rid of all my pimples but it does make it look less gross and less red.
