Pros:

Kept me ~80-90% clear for years

Cons:

Caused very painful kidney stones
Lost effectiveness over time

This was my mainstay for many years after having gone on all sorts of antibiotics, topicals, and accutane. It was by far the most effective antibiotic for me, with little to no immediate side effects like most others. But eventually (after a couple years) it caused recurring kidney stones. I suffered through many kidney stones over a couple years before figuring out it was this medication. My Docs were clueless that this could be a side effect (even though it is listed as a possible side effect online). Haven't had a stone since I've been off of it. It might be rare but a heads up for others that might be on this long term. Trust me, you wouldn't wish your worst enemy to pass a stone - it's that painful. That and the fact that it lost its effectiveness against the acne meant stopping treatment with Bactrim.

Pros:

My skin is so smooth...probably smoother than a baby's butt. I have been using this for about 2 weeks and then stopped, theinfection came back...now I have been on it for over a month (not counting the 1st time) and I wonder if the acne will come bak

Cons:

The fact that it's an antibiotic - yeast infection happened once.

The best stuff in the world (can't say anything about what will happen after I stop using it in a week)!!

Pros:

Looks good so far. I have struggle with acne for 5 years and I am very self conscious about what I look like. So far my face looks pretty good.

Cons:

None yet

If you have tried everything else and don't want to go down the accutane path then I would recommend trimethoprim.

Pros:

Works fast and stops oil build-up and especially white heads. A topical compliments it very well such as differin. I'm very pleased.

Cons:

Possible medication interaction and liver safety concerns. Some dryness and possibly more susceptabilty to ingrown hairs.

A great alternative to the seriousness of accutane. Truly a life saver for those who find other remedies useless.

Pros:

Over 50% of my acne cleared up in the first week! It keeps getting better everyday! This is the only thing that has actually worked for me. Forget Differin, you need this.

Cons:

None so far

If you think there's no cure for your acne, think twice. This actually works.. You'll love it as much as I do no double about it.

Pros:

Cleared up my moderate and cystic acne. I've taken it for 2 years. It's been a god sent, I'm no longer self conscience about my face.

Cons:

I wonder how long I can stay on this med. My doctor is trying to lower my dosage, but the acne starts to creep up again.

It's been a god sent, I'm no longer self conscience about my face. It also has an extra benefit for me. I no longer get painful boils on my body. All in all, I highly recommend looking into it.

Pros:

great for my face , i have been using for over a year and i love no side effects. Keeps any break out from getting out of control.

Cons:

The size !!!!!. If i don't get down on the first try it starts to dissolve and taste nasty.

Great for acne , as long as you don't suffer from any of the side effects
