Pros:

-Clears you up faster than Accutane
-Low price

Cons:

-Effectiveness of medication may wear off if used for a long period of time. (?)

This medicine has been absolutely incredible for clearing up my acne. My derm has prescribed me so many antibiotics in the past (Mino, Doxy, etc.) and they haven't worked one bit...UNTIL I suggested the use of Bactrim. At first he seemed reluctant to put me on Bactrim because of the severe allergic reactions a person has to sulfer based medicines. I told him I was willing to risk an allergic reaction because I was so fed up with the business of having continuous, painful cystic acne that just seemed to develop on my chin area. So far it's been only 2 weeks on my treatment of Bactrim and I'm almost completely clear. There's a healthy glow to my complextion that I've never had before, and my cystic acne on the chin area has stopped. Thankfully I have not yet suffered any allergic reactions to this medication like most people claim to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that bactrim will continue to work for me. Yay for bactrim!

My Acne Cure!

Pros:

Cleared my skin
No side effects
Easy

After trying everything on the market including Accutane, I can safely say this is the best drug to treat acne with minimal to no side effects (for me at least). Literally within a day I can see the results. I am so glad I finally found my cure for acne. Not only does it clear acne, but it also prevents sinus infections which I tend to get often.

Pros:

Cleared up my acne quick!

Cons:

Only stayed clear for about a year

It worked great! But after a few months, it slowly stopped working.

Pros:

Works fast!!, amazing for severe inflamatory acne.
took mino and doxy before this, those suck and give u breakout before working

Cons:

only works if your not allergic. have to keep taking it.

works good, have some breakouts, but works better than mino and doxy

Pros:

Brilliant stuff cleared up my skin completely in a few weeks. No spots or whitehead. Everyone should stop complaining about the size of the pill. It's worth it for skin so clear!!

Cons:

None

In only taking half a pill a day and still clear!

Pros:

I started out taking 2 a day and drinking a lot of water, I started noticing results withen the first 3 days so I cut back to one pill a day and drank about a gallon of water a day and withen two weeks I had the clearest skin I've ever had!

Pros:

clears skin the very next day! so easy!

Cons:

can cause yeast infections...yuck!

i have tried everything under the sun and trust me this pill works!! i saw improvement the very next day!! i haven't had any spots since i started taking this. Kind of a big pill but just drink lots of water (i only take one a day). It can cause yeast infections but i take a probiotic along with it and i've had no problems. i wish it wasn't an antibiotic so i could stay on it forever!!!!!!! my confidence has been boosted so much!!

Pros:

works so well! no breakouts the entire time i took it and for months afterwards not a single new spot! i expereinces no side effects at all, just nice skin! : ) oh and free because im in canada!

Cons:

acne gradually starts to come back...not terrible for me, but after using this product and having PERFECT looking skin i was dissapointed even though my breakouts were relatively minor.

i am 22 and have hormonal acne, so i only breakout on my chin...my derm said antibiotics and Birth control are the best thing for this type of acne so i guess i'll be on and off them untill i'm less sensitive to my hormones!

Pros:

Cleared up my cystic acne in a week. Amazing drug! I've tried everything, including 2 rounds of Accutane and other antibiotics. Nothing cleared up my skin like Bactrim. I wish it were safer - I'd use it forever!

Cons:

I worry about using it longterm and the effects it may be having on my body.

I sincerely wish there were a drug like Bactrim that was safe to use longterm. Don't doctors realize that for many of us severe acne is a life long problem???

Pros:

clears up nicely and is cheap

Cons:

can't drink alcohol(dont do it....it'll give you a bad headache and make u nauseous)

may cause nausea

i started seeing improvement within the first month...i've had reallly bad cystic acne for about 8 years now.I've tried everything, prescription and over the counter. Nothing worked. Then my dermatologist prescribed me bactrim ds. I am on month 2 now....i don't break out as much as I used to...1 or 2 tiny little pimples here and there...my scars are also healing=] i also use retin A it's worth a shot if u r not allergic to sulfa drugs. I am really hoping my acne does not come back once i stop taking this medication
