Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Feels great
No chemical side effects
Good for your skin
Works on cystic acne

Cons:

Strong smell

I'm 29 years and have chronic, moderate cystic acne along and under my jaw line. I've tried every product and prescription in the world, and nothing is like pure, 100% natural tea tree oil. I pour a small amount into my palms, rub my hands together and then along the affected areas. I can do this several times throughout the day and each time I instantly feel a relief. I began using tea tree oil in this way about 2 weeks ago, and all of the cysts have shrunk in size and most are no longer raised on my skin at all. There is still some redness, but every day it's improved a bit more. This is something NO OTHER MEDICATION has ever been able to do for me! I'm sold.

Pros:

Really gets rid of my acne!
Cheap

Cons:

Burns sort of, probably not for those with sensitive skin

I've never used the bodyshop stuff, but regular stuff you buy at coles. Tea tree oil is the cure for everything.. its my windex. Itchy bites, sores, pimples, even the washing if you want a fresh smelling load! You can feel it killing all the germys on your face. I use it once at night after washing my face. I also alternate with lemon juice, which also works for me. I think the natural stuff will always work the best! Honey is also a wonderful mask. But don't get tea tree oil too strong or your face will crumble! My friend who also uses it made this mistake. Try it!

Great stuff
When I was younger, I had MAD lice and my family always used this amazing oil to get rid of it and keep it at bay. I was skeptical about using this on my face, but lots of people had recommended it to me. I made the mistake of putting 2 drops undiluted all over my face and I swear my skin almost burnt off. DILUTE THIS OIL! IT'S POWERFUL. The best way I find to use this oil is to add a drop or two to your daily moisturizer. I use Nivea Soft and add one drop and mix it thoroughly in my hand and apply like usual. I was surprised when it didn't leave an oily feel, in fact, it left my face feeling matte (in a good way!). The next day, my skin was less bumpy and less red. My skin felt really amazing. My skin has gotten better after only three days of use (above method twice a day). Also, it smells super good, at least for me. I'd say give it a go, no harm in trying.

Great
Whenever I had a stubborn pimple, I just ice it down and then use a quip and place tea tree oil on the pimple bout 3 times a day. It's completely gone in like 2 days. Works every time.

My new substitute for Benzoyl Peroxide
Works great as a spot treatment. I leave it on overnight on inflamed spots and by the next morning, I can bet that the pimple will be much smaller and not noticeable. On acne prone or inflamed areas such as my jawline, I would dilute tea tree oil with water and dab it lightly on the area. I no longer purchase BP as the effects of tea tree oil are exactly the same, and feels less harsh and drying on my skin than BP.

Pros:

Works fast, brightens complexion, Smells refreshing (to me at least :)

I picked up some tea tree oil at a local organic grocery store about a week ago because I heard about the healing power it had on the face. I'm completely satisfied, as it works wonders for my skin. I usually have extremely dry skin (I was a former proactive user, and that made it worse). With tea tree oil, my skin doesen't dry out (as long as I put a moisturizer on aferwards, and even sometimes, i'll ad a few drops of tea tree oil to my moisturizer just to give it an extra boost. Don't waste your money on proactive, or other "miracle" acne products. This is the real deal, and will clear your skin!

Pros:

I love tea tree oil! I'm 47 yrs old, started breaking out severely, and have been using tea tree for a little over a week. My skin is clear.

Cons:

No cons. The smell is great, refreshing. It does dry my skin a little, but I add extra tea tree and vitamin e antibacterial cream to help moisturize.

I was beginning to get desperate. I had tried everything, and then read the reviews of tea tree here. I went to the health food store, purchased tea tree soap, tea tree oil and the tea tree/vitamin e cream. My skin looks great, it didn't cost me a fortune, and I have my confidence back.

Works perfectly!
My skin is fairly good, but sometimes I get pimples. Even though, the smell of the oil is quite strong, it makes pimples disappear in 3-6 days for me. Of course, everyone's skin is different, as all the reviews thus far prove, but it's worth a shot. P.S. Don't use the oil in large quantities, especially near your eyes or all over your face! The oil is very strong so it may cause redness, itching, and blistering. Be careful!

Life Saver!!!
Hi Guys, If you haven't already you should seriously give 100% Tea Tree Oil a go. It may not work for everyone but it worked for me. After never having a problem with Acne until 2 years ago (I'm 28 now) I spent a bucket load of money on prescription tablets, ointments, over the counter ointments, Micros, expensive skin care ect. Some things worked for a couple of weeks and then it went back to chaos. At the moment I'm using a chemist brand every day cleanser (not a cleanser for oily skin), I put about 15 drops of tea tree oil in with it and use it twice a day. You can also use an undiluted drop as a spot treatment. It goes away completely within 24 hours and a dramatic difference just in 12 hours. If you struggle with ingrown hairs you can mix 50/50 Olive Oil to Tea Tree oil and apply twice a day and it completely clears and prevents ingrown hairs. AND it's SO CHEAP!! $6 for a bottle at the chemist. Life saver!!!
