Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Used Tea Tree Oil? Rate It:

Choose from 1 to 5 stars

Pros:

CLEARS SKIN! Reduces acne redness, bumps, and does it all FAST!

Cons:

Smells HORRIBLE and burns if not diluted.

Okay, I wanted to wait a few days before rating Tea Tree Oil but I just applied it and now only 5 minutes later, my skin is essentially perfect! This is the first product on this site that I have rated with 5 stars for how well it works. But listen, I had moderate acne. Went on Retin-A Micro and Duac gel and hated it (didn't work at all!) Started using Clean and Clear Acne Control Kit and it definitely helped clear some of my current acne, but not all and not my scars from acne. But now, I saw all the good ratings for TTO and had to try it. And now, after just ONE time of applying, my skin is almost back to it's perfect self like it was 2 years ago. Cleared a lot of scars and completely vanished my redness instantly. This is a miracle product and I love it! I got the Austrailin stuff and it's amazing. And I HATE HATE HATE the smell of it (I think it smells like very old photo albums) but it goes away. Can't wait to see further results. I will post again in a few days.

Pros:

Seems to reduce redness and oil. Leaves skin feeling clean and soft.

Cons:

My husband HATES the smell. I don't mind it.

I'm well into my 40s and have suffered with acne since I was a teen. It gets worse when the monthly hormones kick in. I always used TTO shampoo but never thought of using it foe my skin until I read your board. I'd recommend it whole-heartedly. BUT always test check a small spot of skin on the wrist or abdomen for sensitivity. I use the Desert Essence Kinder to Skin TTO straight from the bottle. Saturate a cotton ball and use like a toner after washing with a mild cleanser.

Pros:

If your skin is not allergic(which is very rare for it to be) it starts to work within a week!

Cons:

Just the smell is strong but its soothing as well.

Im the type of person that if i dont see results at least a little i give up, i know they say you have to wait a while, but when your skin is so irritated, you want to see immediate change even if its a little. A good sign is to at least see no NEW breakouts. I basically agree with many to heavily dilute it. Half cup water with a few drops. I dip my hands and massage it in my skin to get the circulation going. Feels soo soothing!!! Much better to start w less since you should be using 100% natural tea tree oil. Im really excited! ive tried sooo much and its been abouT A WEEK AND AMAZING RESULTS!TRY IT!! This site was what helped me discover it. Tell people to try it seriously worth trying something so natural and proven to not have side effects! (of course your one of the rare people that are allergic) I WISH EVERYONE THE BEST I KNOW HOW DEPRESSING ACNE CAN BE!! STAY POSITIVE! AND minimum of 8 glasses of water is a MUST!!!!!!!!

Pros:

It dries up the pimples that already exist.

Cons:

Makes my skin a bit dry, but nothing a bit of moisturiser can't fix.

It's great to 'repair' the pimples but I don't think it does anything to prevent outbreaks.

Pros:

its amazing O.O

Cons:

sometimes it can leve your face dry, ive been using this for a while now so my skin has grown acustom to it, so i cant think of any right now.
and can everyone stop dissin the scent! it rocks lol

there is no FULL proff cure all product for acne, but if there was, tea tree oil would be one of the MAIN ingredients. go into the message boards, read about it, find a way to use it that would suit you. u wont be sorry :)

Pros:

I think it was this that worked miracles to end 15 years of moderate (mid-menstrual cycle) acne. And it's natural!

Cons:

I wouldn't recommend using it full strength. The smell is strong, but I don't mind.

I started Dan's regimen a couple of months ago, but instead of BENZOYL PEROXIDE substituted TEA TREE OIL. I used the already diluted Desert Essence "Kinder to Skin". (I chose Cetaphil liquid cleanser and Oil of Olay moisturizer.) I also started taking vitamins at the same time (multi + 50mg of B6 and Zinc). It took almost 2 months of SLOW but steady improvement. Now my skin is really clearing up. I honestly can hardly believe this day has come.

Pros:

It just works!

Cons:

You have to get used to its smell.

I've struggled with acne for 18 years, severe acne for the past year and a half. I've been on almost every over the counter treatment, used ProActive, spent a fortune on dermotologist visits, had my face injected to increase healing (don't ever do this!), and took numerous prescriptions including 6 months of Accutane. Nothing did the job. Now, I wash my face twice a day with Desert Essence Thouroughly Clean Face Wash with tea tree oil. Twice a day I also wet a cotton ball under water, squeeze out the excess, put a few drops of Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil on it, and go over my face. My skin not only has cleared up, but it is now smooth, soft, and looks and feels great. It may not be everyone's miracle cure, but it was mine. I wish I knew about this stuff 18 years ago!

Pros:

Has reduced my breakouts, blackhead and redness significantly.

Cons:

I like the smell, my husband hates it. It takes a commitment of time to see significant results (2-3 months). It's a natural product that takes time to work. At first I had dry, flakey skin but that has all stopped once my skin got healthy from it

Think this is the best thing I have done for my skin ever! It's super affordable to buy a $8 bottle of Tea Tree oil that lasts six months. I love the tingly sting it gives my face. I'm amazed that my red coloring around my nose is almost gone (I'm 38 and have struggled with acne for years)and my black heads on my nose are quite minimized. My T-Zone oily skin has been more evened out and my red blochy spots are minimizing. I think this prodect is worth a try but it needs more than a week for results.

Pros:

It is very good in the fact that it dries up the pimple, and it makes sure that it does not have a chance to get worse.

Cons:

The smell isn't so bad, you get used to it. However it dries up the skin, and the area around the affected location where the tea tree oil was applied. It also makes it red.

It is good, and did not let me down, it did however make my face dry, itchy and red. can be sometimes emberassing! BUT OVERALL IT WORKS! AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!
