Pros:

effective contraceptive
lighter periods

Cons:

a Danish study found 64% higher incidence of blood clotting with YAZ and Yasmin than pills that have been established for decades.

Blood clots leading to an embolism which can lead to death

I have been using Yasmin for 7 years and now am changing my method due to strong suggestion from my GP and after reading this article: [link removed]

Pros:

Nice packet!

Cons:

Worsened my acne!
Gave me very unpredictable periods which stressed me out completely!
Went from being content with my looks to worrying everyday what people thought when they saw my face :-(

I went onto Yaz after a year on Dianette because my acne was reduced to very light and breakouts weren't very frequent. Plus I was scared about being on Dianette for so long! After two months of Yaz I was having major breakouts on my cheeks where I had never had acne before. Eventually I just gave up and broke down so I'm back on Dianette despite the risks with Clindamycin to try to clear up existing acne. Yaz is primarily a form of birth control and its "effect" on acne was stumbled across randomly and as far as I can see, the clinical trials for Yaz and acne are far and few between. After going through hell on this pill I have decided to take the Dianette risk again for the sake of my skin and for the sake of my psychological well-being!

The birth control pill. Yaz, has been linked to life-threatening side effects such as strokes, blood clots, and heart attacks. Since 2004, at least 50 deaths have been reported in women taking Yaz and contraceptives made with similar ingredients. There is more information on this disturbing problem at [link removed]

Pros:

none

Cons:

It did nothing except make me miserable, I seriously had to stop after about 2 weeks. I could start crying at any given time, it's just not worth being depressed and having bad skin.

It's unfortunate that pimples and acne can really put a damper on one's life. I've only had this problem for the last couple of years, from having completely perfect skin. I feel for everyone who's going through it and I wish there was a perfect solution. Bottom line, it may not work for me, but it might work for someone else. All you can do is try.

Pros:

? i didn't notice any change in my pms symptoms.

Cons:

I had so much break through, that i wasn't sure that it prevented pregnancy. i have a 4 month old daughter now. at first i thought it was me, that did something wrong, until my friend told me this morning that she's pregnant.

Maybe i didn't take it long enough, but i got pregnant on Yaz. I swithced from Yasmine to Yaz, because of the intoxicating commercial. lol. there was really no reason for me to stop taking yasmine. My girlfriend did the same thing, switch because the commercial sounded cool, and now, she's currently one month pregnant.

Pros:

Prevents pregnancy!

Cons:

Made my acne worse (and I'm almost 29!) and I felt like my hormones were out of whack. My appetite was bigger too. This doesn't do half of what the ads say it does!!

Liked Yasmin better.
