Pros:

No nausea, minimal weight gain (if any), and prevents pregnancy.

Cons:

People always say that your acne will get worse before it gets better, I was on this pill for 9 months and my acne just kept getting worse. I broke out in places I never had before,

Bad for Acne, good for everything else.

Pros:

no side effects but cant really tell if its helping or not.

Cons:

none

Started taking this about three months ago to help control my acne. I don't think this was enough to help because I started taking Spironolactone three weeks ago and my face is doing MUCH better. Could just take more time though. Also,I just got some hormonal blood test done and they said my estrogen was low so I need I higher dose birth control anyway.

Worth it.
I have been taking Yaz on and off for around a year. There has been a total of 3 months that I have been off of this pill because it lowered my sex drive significantly and made it a little harder to gain muscle (plus it gave me a a little bit of cellulite even though I workout 3-4 days a week and eat a healthy diet). However Yaz has helped clear my skin and my skin is way less oily. I am 24 years old and didn't start getting oiler skin and acne until I was 20. Yaz has been the only thing that has made a change in my skin for the better. Not only has Yaz helped my skin, but it also has made me emotionally stable. I used to cry for no reason, get upset, snap at people, and was an emotional roller coaster. I take the pill continuously throughout the month, that helps regulate my hormones and makes it so I don't get my periods, it also has helped a lot with my energy levels and my relationship with my husband. The two times I tried to go off of Yaz my oily skin/acne returned, and I was once again an emotional mess. For me the pros outweigh the cons, I'd rather be a happy sane person than a miserable emotional wreck.

Talk to your doctor about the consequences of skipping periods
October 1, 2009

Pros:

Less acne, no cramps, 2 day long period

Cons:

Recent FDA possible recalls

I've been on Yaz for close to two years (since I was 16). I absolutly loved it at first! It got rid of my cramps that at one point would make me stay home from school causing horrible migranes and I have a two day long period. Recently though, I've been noticing a lot of talk about Yaz and its horrible side effects that have been making me reconsider my choice of birth control. Although I enjoy having a 2 day long period, the idea of a blood clot (which is something that is on the rise for Yaz takers) just doesn't appeal much to me. Also I found an artical stating that the FDA is considering a recall of the product. I'm calling my doctor today to switch me to a different brand, the risks outweigh the benefits.

Pros:

After 3 months, my skin is noticeably better. People are commenting on the improvement. I hear it gets even better by 6 months.

Cons:

I had some adjustment issues during the first month. I didn't follow instructions about when to start, and I experienced irritability, fatigue, depression, and nausea. It all went away during the 2nd month though.

This seems to work great if you acne is caused by PCOS or other hormonal issues. My skin suddenly started breaking out about a year ago, and after antibiotics were unsuccessful, they tested my hormone levels, which are slightly off. The endocrinologist said YAZ works great for people like me, and in my experience, it has been effective so far.

Pros:

Completely cleared my skin within 2 1/2 months!!

Cons:

First 90 days suffered from hardcore nausea

I started taking Yaz because I have a hormonal imbalance which means I don't get my period unless I'm on BC. In addition I suffered from nasty hormonal breakouts - especially around my jaw line. My first month on Yaz was very difficult to endure. I took it at night to minimize the side effects and still I felt awfully nauseous to the point where I'd throw up sometimes and couldn't fall asleep until the early hours of the morning. I decided to stick through since my acne was starting to lessen. 2 months later - my face has completely cleared and I have NO SIDE EFFECTS at all; no nausea, no emotional crying, no PMS. It's true that the nausea goes away after a while. Your body has to adjust to the changing hormone levels so be patient. My period lasts 3 days and my face looks lovely. Good luck.

Pros:

Clears skin, increase in breast size, pms/pmdd not as bad

Cons:

Gained water weight the first few weeks

The price isn't too bad and it really helped my skin which was the main reason I went on it. I get really bad monthly mood swings which did hurt my relationships and this seemed to work a lot better than other pills I have been on. I did gain a little extra 'fluff' for the first few weeks but it just gave me motivation to work out! Overall, Yaz has been great. My skin is clear, my periods are regular and light and my boobs are bigger

Pros:

No Babies. Cleared up Acne. Better moods. Helped ME loose weight.

Cons:

Anxiety, Headaches around period, Yeast infections

I've been on Yaz for almost a year and I had the normal side effects the first few months I took it, which was headaches. I didn't really notice a difference in my acne until probably about 6 months ago. The first few months I took it I did have headaches or more like a migraine on the right side of my head and I also got yeast infections but they stopped. Now everytime I'm fixing to start my period I get a yeast infection. But not everyone gets yeast infections so other than that there's nothing wrong with Yaz and I would recommend it because if you have really bad mood swings than it helps with that. I'm fixing to switch to Ortho Tri Cyclen and see if the yeast infections stop. Which I hope to God the infections stop cuz it sucks!! Remember every type of birthcontrol pill is different and will do people differently!
