Pros:

Cleared skin up, no weight gain.

Cons:

Hairloss! Made eyes really dry, restless at night felt like my heart was racing, felt de hydrated and teary.

Had been on a cheap bc pill standard 20 milligrams for 4 years. Doc offered me this to help with acne that won't clear up not terrible but very oily clogged skin and moods. Was awesome for the first few months skin cleared up massively and then it got overly dry my hair was really dry as well. Hair started falling out alot more than normal I waited it out for about 6 months and then decided to go back on my other pill. The hair loss hasn't really stopped. There are many things that could have caused the hairloss but I really think that it was such a coincidence and with the other sde effects it really seems likely it was this. Sad because I had so much hair now less than half as thick and I'm only in my early twenties..

Pros:

- Cleared up my acne.
- Made my skin softer and smoother.

Cons:

- Bothered my stomach/digestive system.

I had moderate acne and I started taking this in December of 2009. Within 2-3 months my skin was completely clear. I wasn't even getting an occasional breakout. It was amazing. It made my skin a lot smoother. I did not have any of the negative side effects such as mood swings, anxiety, or depression. The only negative side effect that did happen was that it bothered my stomach a lot. It caused be to have a disease called Ulcerative Colitis, and I wound up in the hospital. I had to stop taking it immediately. I'm not sure if this is common or not. If you are planning on taking this BC, do your research! And if you start having any weird symptoms, stop taking it immediately!

Pros:

nothing

Cons:

terrible acne within one week
mood swings

WORST bc EVER. I am warning you right now, do NOT take this bc. First, it will make you breakout BAD before it gets any better, and once it gets better, it will come back even WORST than before once you get off it. I only took it for one month and had to throw it away, i am so angry that this pill made me broke out so bad, i never had acne this bad. I know you are suppost to wait about 2 to 3 months, but really, it is NOT worth it. The scars will take FOREVER to heal, and the mood swing is unbarable. And after you get off this pill, most people have TERIBLE break out, worst than they get on, if you don't believe me, do some research and you will find it. I am warning you, save youselves money and pain, go with the naturl rout, i wish i had. DONT MESS WITH HORMONES

Pros:

none

Cons:

Gave me chronic cystic acne

I never had probelm skin in high school, but my gynecologist prescribed Yaz to take temporarily for some menstrual issues I was having. While I was on the pill my skin was amazing. I'd never had problem skin, but now it was glowing. After my periods were on track again I went off the pill, and within 2 or 3 months I started getting these red bumps randomly on my face. The problem got worse and worse until I had full blown cystic acne. I've been on dermotolgist recommended antibiotics, used every topical cream you can imagine, tried home remedies, cut out sugar, dairy, gluten, etc. Nothing ever helps permanently. This has been such a nightmare. It is now 6 1/2 years later and I'm still dealing with this issue. Yaz completely threw my hormones out of balance. It doesn't have this effect on everyone, but many have complained of similar experiences. I do not recommend Yaz for anyone!! Taking B5 supplements is the only thing that has shown any kind of lasting improvement. Look it up, do some research before going on Yaz.

Pros:

Works as an oral contraceptive. That's it.

Cons:

Mood swings.
Constant bloating.
When I went off the pills my acne became terrible.

I started taking Yaz not for my acne, which used to be very mild, just as a birth control pill. Now almost a year after I've stopped taking it, I'm on this website looking for a cure for my acne which has become unbearable. I had to stop taking the pills after four months because I felt like I was going insane ! I would cry all the time, I never felt like doing anything, and I stopped talking to many of my friends because I was just depressed. I finally realized it must be the pills that had caused this change in me. After I went off of them, I had a terrible cystic breakout on the sides of my cheeks where I had never gotten acne before. At the time I just believed my hormones were balancing out and it would all soon be over. The mood swings stopped and I was myself once again, which was wonderful. But now these pills seemed to have forever changed my skin. It is oilier and I get cysts every month. I wish I had read reviews about the pills before I went on them, it was so not worth it. Bottom line, I would not recommend them !

Pros:

Does clears acne

Cons:

Nausea
Fatigue
Serious mood swings
Vision is affected, feels high pressure on my eyes
Skin darkened

First day on Yaz, I felt sleepy all day, so I drank 3 coffees and didn't eat much food, my eyes felt tired and couldn't see things as clear as I used to. It was a sunday, I just thought maybe i slept too much. Second day on Yaz, started to feel dizzy, was having trouble concentrating. Had no apetite, wanted to vomit when smelling food, light headaches kicked in along with the high pressured eyes. Walked into Pharmacy for advice, pharmacist suggested to keep on taking it, they might go away. Day 3 Slept from 2am to 11am, woke up with light pain in my legs, felt like I had a night out in my high heels or something. Tired, but overall feeling ok. Changed my mind, and took another pill. Then all the side effects showed up again around 3pm. Didn't fade untill late night that day. Day 4 Eyes were feeling better, pressure went down, didn't take any pills, had a bad headache from 4pm to bed time, but ate a lot of food. Mood swing has gone, was still feeling bit tired. Day 5, woke up at 6am ( 7 hours sleep), light headache, overall, no more fatigue nausea vomit feelings, mood swing gone, eyes are good to look at computer screen. The commercial of this pill made me happy, I thought, wow, finally, I can eliminate mood swings and depression with this pills to treat my acne, when previous pills was making me depressed. I wouldn't be happily to continue if I could tolerate those side effects, afterall I have been tolerating them for 4 or 5 years. But with Yaz, those side effects were just too much. I've decided to come off the pills totally, yes, ance might come back, but I'm willing to try alternatives rather than messing up with my hormones.

Pros:

My period was cut short from 7 days to 3 days.

Cons:

I had to pee every hour. Day and night.
I threw up at everything.
I couldn't sleep at night.

Day 1. No side effects. Day 2. Gag at the sound of my boyfriend brushing his teeth. Day 3. Was awake at midnight for no reason. Not in the '˜mood'. Day 4. I have to pee every hour. I feel dehydrated and am drinking a ton of water. Up again around midnight. Still not in the '˜mood'. Day 5. The smell of food causes me to gag. I'm throwing up all this water I'm drinking so I'm getting dehydrated, but I still have to pee every hour. Still not in the mood. Day 6. Up all night throwing up and feeling awful. My boyfriend didn't even ask for it. Day 7. ***** I QUIT TAKING THIS BYAZ! ****** Going to bathroom every hour to pee and denied boyfriend sex again that night. Day 8. Still feeling rough, but not throwing up and I slept the entire night. No sex. Day 9. Gagged at the smell of cooked cabbage *but honestly, who doesn't* Slept all night. Day 10. Feeling like an entire new woman! Jumped on my boyfriend when he came home that night. Slept the entire night!

Pros:

Periods shorter and lighter

Cons:

SEVERE anxiety
Depression
Headaches

This drug had to have been sent straight from HELL! After taking this BCP, I developed extreme anxiety. I suffered from constant anxiety attacks at the most inconvenient times. (Of course, there is no convenient time to have one) I felt like a crazy person. My Dr. ended up having to prescribe an anti-anxiety medication just so I could function. I was a college student at the time, and was constantly missing class because I had so many panic attacks in the classrooms. I would NEVER EVER recommend this BCP to anyone at all.

Pros:

birthcontrol

Cons:

Made me break out worse than I ever had before with no hope of changing, I would wake up every morning with new pimples

give it a try, but it could be the wrong hormone structure for you.

Cons:

Leg cramps, joint pain, resultant comedonal acne, heart palpitations, mood swings

I used this for 2 months and could not take the joint pain anymore. It was unbearable, to the point where I felt I could not walk. Additionally, it made me feel like my blood was not flowing, which I know sounds strange but I have low blood pressure and this pill made it feel like my blood was circulating even less. This led to the aforementioned joint pain. After approximately 3 days of using this pill, I developed severe comedonal acne all over my face, which persisted throughout the course of my Yaz regimen. After the two months, when I quit using the pill, the comedonal acne went away within a week. During my usage of Yaz, I also had a horrifying, terrifying emotional breakdown. I was inconsolable, crying endlessly for an entire week. Before this major breakdown but while using Yaz, I would have random, inexplainable periods of distress, usually a day or two, here or there, when I just felt sad and anxious for no reason, and would usually end up crying and feeling stressed out. Since ending Yaz treatment, I have had no such mood swings. I'm back to being happy. I did not have breast tenderness or enlargement, yeast infections or any other notable changes. For others, this pill works WONDERS. I guess it just doesn't work for me.
