Pros:

Acne Manageability, lighter and shorter periods, birth control.

Cons:

Raised blood pressure, mood swings, chronic yeast infections, small weight gain, temporary decreased sex drive and natural lubrication, and contact lens sensitivity

I like diane-35 and it was a miracle for my acne. A MIRACLE! But with time the magical effects wore of and weren't as great. At first I got NO acne, but now, after maybe 3 years of using it, I still get mild acne. At first I had no period pain with it, but after a while I get some and need to take advil to function at my best. I will be coming off it for a few months because it is giving me CHRONIC yeast infections. What's a more effective birth control than a birth control pill? A wife who is too ashamed to have sex with her husband because her yeast infection won't stay away. That's it. I love the pill & what it has done for my face, but it gave my mother high blood pressure which does not run anywhere in my family. If I quit the pill, I will have to strictly watch my diet. Contrary to popular belief, food aggravates/causes my acne. Oil and cheese cause blackheads, and then all the blackheads need is some sugar to sprout that baby up into a devil bump. Sad to be leaving Diane.

Pros:

Cleared my skin after two cycles.

Cons:

Made me feel sick in the morning - I've been off it now for about 4 months, and the morning sickness is still there, and I'm not taking any other medication (and I also am NOT pregnant).

I was very happy with how clear my skin became. It was way cheaper and less hassle to take a pill rather than use topical systems like Proactiv. However, it did make me feel sick, and still does now that I'm off it.

Pros:

Decreased acne, larger boobs, weight loss

I like it so far, it is slowly decreasing my acne. It decreases my appitite so I am losing weight (even though I am gaining weight in my boobs.) My periods are amazing - on time and light.

Pros:

Less oily skin and hair withing 1 month, cleared acne within 2 - 3 months. Increased breast size slightly (though I started using it at 17 yrs so breast increase may have been a natural occurance at that age). No real weight gain, no mood swings.

Cons:

Frequent Spotting mid month, more of a hassle than anything. Other than that, no other cons.

Used it since I was 17 (now 25). Have switched to Nuvaring for 8 months and saw increased acne within the first two months. Switched back to Diane and skin cleared immediately. Tried Alesse recently for 2 months, got acne immediately and some weight gain. Just started back on Diane again, skin is already clearing some. The spotting is something I'm willing to deal with as long as I don't have to deal with acne. Have done research on the added stroke/clot risk however do not feel that I'm high risk (non smoker, exercise, good diet) so I'm going to continue using Diane. May try Yasmine in the future however everytime I try a new pill, I get acne again and have to hide behind makeup for a couple of months. Much happier on Diane. But again, it works differently for everyone, luckily it works for me. Is expensive so price below is what I pay for 3 months when covered by my health plan.

Pros:

Clear skin

Cons:

when you quit taking it the acne starts again

I have never had acne as a teenager but it hit me hard at about 22. I had a very long fight with acne using everything available from antibiotics to diet and alternative medicine. Nothing worked. I tried Diane for 8 months and it worked great. Totally cleared my skin. Then I quit and guess what? 4 months later I start getting them again. I do not know what to do? It is so embarassing to have acne and scars all over your face but I do not want to stay on it forever? My doctor told me that if I do another 8 months that maybe enough, but who knows. Though I should say that I did not have many side effects while taking Diane, no gain loss no mood swings, my sex drive did go down a little bit, and my breast did not increase at all, I wish it would.

Pros:

My periods are like clockwork now.
The acne has decreased significantly.

Cons:

I take Diane 35 with another medication called androcur which both have to be taken at specific times of your cycle which can be confusing at time.

I like the treatment, very effective.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin, makes skin really soft

Cons:

The usual side effects of BCPs: bad mood swings, a little weight gain, extra sensitive to everything

I have been on birth control pills for over two years now. For most of that time, I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen which worked wonders for my skin at first but seemed to lose its effect with time. I'm a third year college student and I had a horrendous breakout right as school started up, so I went to my doctor and was prescribed Diane 35. I must say, within the first month of use, I've noticed a world of difference. My skin's about 70% clearer and improving day by day. People on this site seem to bash this pill for its side effects, but you'd experience these no matter what oral contraceptive you're taking. I highly recommend this for girls combatting acne.
