Pros:

Bigger boobs and butt, better skin, lesser cramps during period, good birth control.

Cons:

Alot of cellulite on butt and legs, weight gain, occasional mood swings, also alot more gassy.

I've been on Diane 35 for about 2 years now. I first noticed the weight gain but nothing of other symptoms like moodiness or cellulite. I began to notice these cons during the second year of my taking the pill so I discontinued for a few months to see if I could tell the difference. I lost all the weight I had gained over the past year in about 2 months, my skin remained the same and I was a little more in control of my emotions but not enough that really affected me. After a few months a took the pill again as it was simply the easiest form of birth control available and I wanted to gain weight anyway, but after a couple months I noticed the cellulite. I'm 21 years old, about 100 lbs and I live a relatively healthy lifestyle, I've never had experience with cellulite before so I was very surprised to see it on myself and immediately began checking the internet to see if this could be a side effect of the pill. I'm trying to decide now to go off it again or not.

Pros:

No oily skin, acne reduced

Cons:

Weight gain, moody, depressed, heavy period and cramps on the first and second day.

I still have some acne but it has reduced since I started using it 3 months ago. Of course I still use many acne products along with Diane. I think for most girls that increase in breast size has to do with weight gain and that is the case with me. I get pretty bad breakouts during my period and it seems that it became worse while on Diane because I never used to breakout a lot before my period. Barely helps with any period problems.

Pros:

Clear glowing skin
Thick strong hair

Cons:

Depression, Anxiety and weight gain while on it, and Hair Loss and Insomnia after stopping it

Please only take this if your acne is bad and you can't live with it, it is a strong medication and you will need to weigh it against the downsides. This medication can cause clinical depression and if this happens obviously you need to stop taking it. Take a vitamin B6 supplement as all BCPs deplete B6 which is implicated in depression. Please take care and consider whether this is the best choice for you. No one will love you more or less because of your skin.

Pros:

great skin, no oil, didn't even have to wear cover up, regular periods, hardly any cramps

Cons:

DEPRESSED, shortness of breath, moody, increase in headaches, chest pains

I took Diane-35 for a year and 4 months. It was awesome for my skin, and cleared it up so well I was the happiest I had ever been at the beginning. About a year into it I began having really bad shortness of breaths and ended up in the hospital 2 times, not knowing why I had chest pains and couldn't catch my breath. It was the scariest thing I had ever gone through, but the doctors were idiots and did all these tests on me and had no idea what was wrong with me. I ended up searching the side effects of the Diane and found out that the severe side effects were chest pain and shortness of breath. I got off the pill immediately. I used to be super depressed to the point where I didnt want to get out of bed, let alone live. My sex drive was brutal, I didn't have sex with my boyfriend for over a year. Iv been off the pill for 5 months now, and my skin is the worst it's ever been, but my mood has been so much better and my sex drive is back. Im able to breath fine.I am on no pills since.

Pros:

Cleared up acne FAST, no babies!

Cons:

gained almost 10 lbs in less than a month, very moody at the start, decreased sex drive

MIRACLE WORKER for acne and as a birth control, but didn't like the weight gain or mood swings. Everyone is different though.

Pros:

- Cleared skin and not pregnant
- Light periods (and could continue month-to-month, since it is a monophasic pill - like Seasonelle!)
- Cheap with insurance

Cons:

- Sex drive - where does it go?

I am no longer on Diane 35 because it is not available in the US. Diane 35 cleared my skin - not completely, but almost. There would still be small breakouts just before my period, but it was completely manageable. I have been on bcp's for 15+ years, and Diane for about 4-5 years of that. I've been off Diane for about 1.5 years. No pills in all that time before and after Diane have ever worked as well on my skin. I am on Low-Estrin now and my skin looks worse than it ever has to the point that my Dr. prescribed Retin-A (which also does not work for me). Bottom line? I would still be on Diane if only it was available here! I will try Yaz next, compare results, and post here.

Pros:

I used Diane 35 for years. Never had weight problems. the acne does go away.

Cons:

Diane 35 is NOT a CURE for acne. the acne comes back once you stop it. i felt like a slave to the drug for controlling my acne. and went off it. i now l live with my blemishes and use cover-up

it does work. u just CANNOT get OFF and expect a CURE

Pros:

acne reduced, birth control, bigger breasts, covered by extended health plans when other birth control pills are not, body hair finer and less prevalent, reduced cramping and bleeding with menstruation

Cons:

nausea after taking first pill of cycle (nausea reduced by taking pill before bed, avoiding alcohol on the first day of cycle), mood swings, anxiety

Although it cleared up my chest and back acne, I did not find that Diane cleared up my facial acne completely. But along with the Proactiv 3 step system my skin is completely clear. On occasions when I have woken up in the middle of the night after taking the first pill of the cycle before bed, I have vomited from the nausea. I've been taking it for at least 7 years, so I'm not sure if the pill is to blame for mood swings or anxiety. If you're going to be taking a birth control pill anyways, it's nice to have one that you don't have to pay the full cost of. I took Ortho Tri Cyclen before Diane, and I found Diane much more effective for acne. I am a bit concerned about the risk of blood clots, so I wear support socks on long plane flights, and no longer take packs of pills back to back to control when I have my period. I asked my doctor if it was OK to be on it for so long, and she said that the risks to my health from an unwanted pregnancy far outweighed the risks from Diane.

Pros:

Clear Skin, Effective Birth Control, Regular Periods, Price (for some reason I am paying a lot less then many of the people reviewing - under $18 for three packs?)

Cons:

Slight Spotting, Weight Gain (no more then 5 -10 lbs) Moodyness at first (went away after a few monthes)

I get an occasional pimple here and there but my acne has significantly deceased. Also, for those of you just starting on this pill if you wait a few monthes your body will get used to it and almost all of the side effects will go away. I've never had any problems with significant hairloss (that actually sounds pretty scary.) If you could put up with the minor side effects I've experienced, go for it. If you're scared of these side effects ask your doctor about tetracycline for acne, it also works, but the pills are larger and you are required to take more of them daily.

Pros:

Beautiful skin after3 months or so, able to tan in the summer months, my freckles come through which I like..only have to take it once a day..so very conveinent for my busy lifestyle.

Cons:

Sore breasts, weight gain..and stretch marks.

I used Diane 35 about a year ago..and went off because I put on about 7 pounds ( i was not eating well either) so that could have contributed. AFter that I went onto Tetracycline..which worked..but hurt my liver so it wasnt the greatest. Then from that I went onto Yasmin..which was the biggest mistake so far. My doctor said it would begin to heal the skin after 6 weeks..I have never had full acne all over my face like Yasmin gave me. Now i am eating very well..an still the yasmin is not coping with my body. It also gave me cysts in my breasts. I just switched back to Diane, and Im taking 1000mg of Tetracycline with it for now until i see a little improvement. Girls the Diane is amazing. When I was on it..i never got one pimple. It makes your life easier..and if you have a good diet and lifetyle with hardly drinking no smoking..the side effects should no be harmful.
