Pros:

Cons:

i went on yasmin primarily for my skin. It has not however cleared up, probably because im too self conscious to wait till my skin clears up and not wear heavy makeup.

Pros:

I guess it does its job in preventing pregnancy.

I've been on Yasmin for about a year. I was on orthotricyclin before that but had to switch because insurance didnt cover it. I do not like yasmin at all. For the first month or two I felt nauseous. That went away but now I have absolutely no sex drive and I have several spider veins on my legs and i'm only in my early twenties! The only semi good thing is it kind of clears up acne, but not as well as ortho.

Pros:

no breast problems, minimal weight gain, no mood swings

Cons:

HORRIBLE ACNE

I started Yasmin SPECIFICALLY to clear up my ACNE, but it's actually gotten WORSE. Ever since using Yasmin, LARGE acne have popped up along my jaw and around my mouth! I never used to get such massive ones! What's going on? Does it get better after a couple of months??

Pros:

not pregnant

Cons:

BAD acne and red marks on face, moodswings, anxiety.

I've had perfect skin my entire life (am 25) and went on yasmin as a birthcontrol. After a month I started breaking out and after two I looked like a pizza. I got really depressed and had no sex drive. Initially I thought it was stress and didn't see the correlation. After I researched Yasmin and read the comments here I went off it. It's been a month and my skin is almost perfect again (except for some marks still fading) and I'm anxiety-free and happy. I just felt the need to say to everybody that felt like me- get off it. This page helped me a ton when I was very depressed. To all girls getting acne from this, it will get better and marks fade!

Pros:

You don't get pregnant!

Cons:

Mood swings, acne

I have been taking Yasmin for 4 months after my Dr said I shouldn't take Dianette long term (I had been taking it for over 5 years). I have found Yasmin makes me incredibly moody and depressed, and my skin is awful - it's broken out all over my chin and jawline (plus some pimples everywhere else) which is really hard to deal with after having had completely clear skin for 5 years! I really wanted to like this, but it just doesn't work for me.

SECOND MONTH - ACNE WORSE

Hi! I am an Italian girl and I have been suffering from hormonal acne (especially on my chin) for almost 1 year beacuse of my PCOS. I tried different therapies with topical medication and antibiotics but nothing seems to work :( So, my doctor prescribed me Yasmin. I started to take this pill almost 2 months ago: the first month nothing changed (I just had normal breakouts especially before my period), but the second month has been awful, my face is a mess with lot of red and itcy bumps on my chin and even on my neck (where I usually don't have pimples). I called my dermatologist who told me that during the first 3 months skin can get worse (hormones need time to stabilize), so I should stick with it for at least another month to start seeing some improvements. I am very afraid, but if my skin is getting worse before it gets better, I will stick with it! Did any of you experience initial breakout before noticing skin improvements?

Did you look at spironolactone as an option?

Pros:

birth control, no wt gain

Cons:

bad skin, felt sick for 3 mths, very tired and going mental sometimes.Short-tempered.

Arghh, my skin is a nitemare.I'm constantly getting spots and pigmentation marks afterwards coz it never heals up properly. I'm just coming off it.Been on Yasmine for 8 mths, felt sick and tired initially, now sickness is better but still tired. Need PM nap now and never before! This bad skin (they come out all over my face especially a jawline and cheeks) and enlarged boobs (I had been cup size c before, gone up to DD) made me to come off it. i have no life with this acne and massive boobs.Got strech marks on them coz grown so rapidly also get back pain. Also extended cellulite although no WT gain. Actually, lost about 4 pounds since getting on. Previously on Microgynon 30. a stone and a half WT gain but no spots.Confused...

Pros:

Pregnancy prevention

Cons:

Depression,
major acne Breakouts,
Weight gain,

I'm on the generic Ocella and have heard others comment that only the Yazmin works well. However, I don't understand how this pill could make my acne worse when it's specifically supposed to lower androgrens. :-(

Pros:

Shorter periods, less cramps

Cons:

Moodiness, acne (which just started after my 3rd month taking it), forgetful, sleep disturbance, drowsy, bloating. I actually have a lot of the same symptoms I get when I'm pregnant!!

This pill is not doing what I thought it would. I thought it would help with PMS symptoms and moodiness along with preventing pregnancy. It did prevent pregnancy, but that is all that is has done that I expected it to do. Very disappointed with it.

Pros:

Cleared up acne, regulated period well.

Cons:

Too many to list: major ones were severe mood swings, depression, night sweats, severe nausea, chronic yeast infections, and decreased libido.

I would not recommend this as an option for acne treatment. The side effects outweigh the benefits. I thought it was just me, but I've been to other forums and women have listed the same side effects I dealt with. Nausea was horrible, but my depression and mood swings were the worst. I was constantly angry or upset over the littlest things and contemplated killing myself! It was horrible, and I thought I might need professional help (Not good for something like this to even be on the market!). Not to mention the chronic yeast infection that became resistant to OTC cream. After kicking Yasmin, I had to go to the doctor to get diflucan, and THAT finally wiped out the yeast infection. So far so good! My mood has improved dramatically. I no longer feel like I want to kill myself, and the nausea is almost nil now. My libido is back and I just feel like me again! My fiance definitely agrees.
