Pros:

- It did its job. Taken it for about a year and haven't gotten pregnant.

Cons:

- No sex drive.
- Weight gain (about 20 lbs).
- Tender breasts.
- Always tired.
- Digestive problems.
- More acne.

I decided today that I'm going to stop taking Yasmin. I've been taking it for about a year and at first I didn't really notice any kind of side effects. The only thing was a bit of nausea for the first few days of active pills. But now that I look back over how my body has changed in the past year, I hate it. I feel disgusting and tired almost all the time. And I've heard people say that people who gain weight when they're on the pill... That it's not actually the pill, it's the people taking it. But I tell you, if anything I've been eating better and getting more physical activity in the past year than I have since high school. And yeah, I didn't get pregnant, but I also never feel like having sex, which is definitely something new. Also, I never really had acne. But now it's bothersome and I feel like I should wash my face 3-4 times a day.

Pros:

Kept acne more under control

Cons:

I gained some weight, but was able to lose it and keep my weight under control!

I took Yaz for 3 and a half years! Kept my acne under control for the most part! There were good times and bad for my acne, but it was still MUCH better than without the pill! As soon as I stopped taking the pill, I broke out like crazy and have been battling horrible acne ever since. I am going to start taking a different birth control pill now. Fingers crossed!

Pros:

not pregnant, increased libido

Cons:

caused the worst break out i've ever had in my life!

My acne was fairly light when I started Yasmin - it was the first birth control I ever took - and I regret it soo much! I wanted to go on, obviously, for contraceptive reasons, but then ended up breaking out terribly in spots I never had acne before within weeks of starting it! So I kept taking it for 3 months, since that the "trial" time, and it got worse and worse - it literally took me 2 years to FINALLY get rid of all the acne it caused - there's even still a little bit of scarring/redness now after 3 years. For the love of God, please, PLEASE, never take this pill!!!!!

Pros:

-Cleared up my back and chest acne completely after 5 months

-Gave me somewhat shorter periods

-Took away pre-menstrual cramps and all menstrual discomfort all together

-Easy to keep track of your period/ know when it's coming

Cons:

-Acne got worse for the first 4 months (very bad)

-Easy to forget to take it everyday

My main issue with acne was with my back and chest area, I never really had acne on my face or anywhere else on my body (besides the occasional zit or two). The acne was definitely most severe on my back than anywhere else, where i got several incredibly painful cysts and nodules at one time, accompanied by redness and scarring. They re occurred for years with the common acne cyst on my chest. Once I gave up on relying on the summer sun to clear them up, I went to the dermatologist. She prescribed me several different anti-biotics after another (Doxycyline, Minocycline, Erythromycin, etc) and topical treatments (Differin, Tazorotene, Stievamycin, etc) to see which was most effective. None worked significantly well for me and some even made it worse- except for the Stievamycin (which I cannot live without and recommend for everybody!) Anyway, after hearing about the benefits of birth control on acne, I decided to try it My doctor put me on Yasmin because he said it was the best for treating acne. So the first month or two, my acne stayed the same and I saw no improvements nor worsening. However, the next couple of months were horrible and my acne was worse than ever. But I was determined to not give up and I'm glad I didn't. I'm in my 5th month now and I haven't had a cyst or nodule on my back or chest for weeks- this is the clearest my skin has ever been. I pair my Yasmin with a stievamycin gel that I put on at night and they are honestly a match made in heaven, they work wonders together. So if you're on/going on Yasmin primarily for acne, I would say be patient and consistent- it works!!!!!

Pros:

Works!
Shorter, lighter periods.
No weight gain.

Cons:

Expensive! Insurance only covers a little bit of the cost.
Only works to get rid of cysts.

This is the only product ever that consistently keeps my face clear. I stopped taking it for almost a year due to the high cost...it was bad. I couldn't find anything else, even rx, to clear my face. I am finally just biting the bullet and paying for it because I can count on it! If you can, get this product, it really works.

Pros:

It regulated my period really well. I never have any cramps, and my breasts grew a little.

Cons:

I broke out like CRAZY. Cystic acne all over my cheeks and along the jaw line.

1st month, I was extremely moody, anxious, depressed. I noticed that I started getting little bumps all over my face, even in places I never had acne before. 2nd-3rd month, the moodiness went away, but then I started getting a couple cysts on my cheeks and jawline, and they would take FOREVER to go away. 4th-5th month, the cysts multiplied and now both cheeks are covered in cysts. There are also some cysts on my temple area, and one or two on my forehead. The jawline has calmed down a little but I get a new cyst occasionally. I went to the dermatologist and they recommended me to go on Clindamyacin (topical cream) and doxycycline (oral pill) to sterilize my face, because they said I need to go on Accutane ASAP. Before Yasmin, my skin had the occasional cyst, but now its full blown, and my doctor said Accutane is my only choice right now. I'm getting off Yasmin ASAP. And I'm going to let Accutane repair the damages. This may work for some people but it does not work for all.

Pros:

Regular periods and words as a birth control method

Cons:

huge pimples, extreme exhaustion, very sore breasts and digestion problems.

I'v only been on this pill for two weeks and it started with a really bad headache, immediate and HUGE cyst like pimples on my chin and jaw line, and extreme exhaustion. I can't say that the tiredness is from the pill, however, I sleep 3 hours in the middle of the day even after a good night of sleep. So I think it must be. I am a very active person normally, and now I have trouble getting myself out of bed and getting to the gym in the morning. I am going to switch next week because this just isn't fun. And because of the sore breasts.... I was on it before for about 2 months, and it did the same thing. So I think it's safe to say that it's not right for me, and might not be right for you.

Pros:

clear skin, balanced hormones, reduced cramps and PMS, no pregnancies

Cons:

breakthrough bleeding during first month of use

I've heard some awful things about Yasmin and Yaz on the news - but in my experience - this pill is phenomenal! I am 25, thin, and a non-smoker and this pill does never makes me feel nauseous like past birth controls I have taken have (Zovia). This is only my second month on Yasmin and my skin is beautifully clear consistently. I did have a pretty bad break out during the second week of the first month of use, but barely a pimple in sight since then. I haven't experienced PMS and my hormones seemed to have balanced out. No mood swings or horrible cramps - it's awesome! I had pretty bad acne before this pill and now my skin has never looked better. I'm so so happy with Yasmin. Breakthrough bleeding happened my first month of use, but not bad. I recommend taking your pill at night to reduce side-effects and staying active to keep your blood flowing! Great product overall.

Pros:

Great for skin!
A fantastic option for acne if your body cannot tolerate harsher meds
Inexpensive

Cons:

Felt nauseous for the first few weeks

I have had severe cystic acne since I was a teenager. Unfortunately am highly allergic to Acutane/Isotane, which I believe to be the best product on the market for acne. I have been on Yasmin for 3 months and have seen a significant improvement on my face!! My chest and upper arms are clearly slowly, and the back is taking its time... but I am seeing slow and steady results! I would say this is worth a try for anyone struggling with skin.
