Pros:

Got rid of my acne on my face in one month
Got rid of my acne on my back in 4months

Cons:

I do occasionally get one or two spots on my back
My period got shorter and less heavier which appears to me not natural

I have been on the pill since May/June (now is Jan 2012) and it really helped me. However I want to stop using and see if can control the acne without the pill. One thing I have to say is that because it worked so quickly and previous treatment did not help one bit (eg herbs, antibiotics, healthy diet, exercise, drinking plenty of water, using topical creams). It has restored a certain level of happiness for me because I was so stressed seeing the scars and constant battle with the acne.

Pros:

Gradually Clearer Skin
Bigger Boobs
Effective Contraceptive
Lighter Periods
No moodiness!

Cons:

Worsens Skin At First
Fatigue
Hair Loss
Constant Hunger

So I got Yasmin right before leaving to college so that I could have clear skin to start off my new life. Unfortunately I did not know that the first 3 months of being on this pill made it worse. As soon as I started taking the pill I started to breakout worse than I have in a long time, and this continued throughout my first month. It was horrible, I had huge cysts around my chin and jawline. The second month my acne became less around my chin but it started spreading to my cheeks and above my lip, it was still really bad. The third month it got a little better but I still had a lot of breakouts all over my face. I have been on my 4th packet for a week now and my acne has magically disappeared! Literally, no breakouts, not even a single pimple. The only problem is that I still have scarring from the previous 3 months but I will take that over breakouts anyday! So it really is true, despite becoming frustrated with the lack of results at first, be persistent! As far as everything else, yes, it did make me gain weight. Luckily most of that has gone to my boobs and butt, I've gotten so many compliments on my boob size! I was pretty much flat chested before and now I am at least a B, possibly C. For the first month or two my boobs were extremely soar and tender but now they aren't. So, if my acne stays the way it has been for the last week, I would say fighting through those horrible 3 months was definitely worth it. One side affect is that I am constantly hungry. However, since I have never had a weight problem, the weight gain was actually a benefit since it went to areas in which I was lacking. But if you have a weight problem, I would recommend to stay away. The only side affect that really bugs me is that I am tired all the time. Also, I have not noticed any change in my emotions/moodiness which is great! Also... if you skip taking the white sugar pills and move onto the next pack immediately, you get to to skip your period!

Pros:

- cleared acne within the first two months
- balanced hormones

Cons:

-made me feel a bit bloated

I suffered from a severe and random outbreak of acne for the last 6 months. Doctors could not diagonose a cause. The experience was traumatizing. I went on yaz to gear up for accutane, the only solution as stated by my doctor. Within the first month my cystic acne cleared completely. I am still dealing with an occasional breakout on my chin but I have yet to finnish my second month.

Pros:

Completely cleared up skin!!!
Lessened body hair growth
Slightly bigger boobs

Cons:

Bad initial breakout
Some weight gain
Some anxiety in first couple months

I've used Yasmin on and off for 4 years. Ive come to realize that its the only thing that will keep my skin clear. And it really does. I get maybe 2 zits a month. Yasmin does take about 3 months for your body to get used to it. You are putting synthetic hormones in your body. My initial breakout during the second month was the worst acne I've ever had, but honestly it's totally worth it in the long run. Like I said, Yasmin is the only thing that works for me! Which is why I went back to it after staying off of it for a year.

Pros:

Clear skin (with Tetracycline)
Regulates my periods

Cons:

Absolutely none!

Ladies, I suffered with acne since I was 13. I'm 21 now and the severity of my acne increased over time. I went from having one or two pimples every week. To 6 or 7 every day, without fail. I've used almost everything under the sun: clean & clear (in 2005), proactiv, acne free, baking soda, cetaphil, lemon juice, honey, and different antibiotics. Nothing worked for me. Few years ago, I found out that I have PCOS - Polycystic Ovarian syndrome. It's a hormonal disorder that causes ovarian cysts with a list of side effects, one of which is acne. Yasmin has been found to be the most effective for this and so with consultation with my endocrinologist, I tried it. I've been using it consistently for about 4 months. My dermatologist also put me on tetracycline, an antibiotic commonly used for acne. Yasmin & Tetracycline are my acne fighting machines!! Holy crap. My skin has never looked so good! It took about 3 months for my skin to show improvement. I can't tell when last I had a real pimple or cyst! It is absolutely amazing. I've dreamed about having clear skin and now I have it. Even the texture has changed, it's so beautifully smooth and radiant! I would recommend this duo to any girl who has acne. Definitely talk to your doctor about it, cause it worked for me. I also use Clean and Clear Continuous Control as my daily face wash. That stuff is the truth! For the odd time I get a small zit (which is probably once a month), it's gone within a day or two and no scar! I used to live in concealer - covering acne and scars. Now I'm proud to show off my radiant skin. Even though I use Yasmin in conjunction to antibiotics, I think it would still work wonders independently. Anyway, there's hope for you ladies! I thought I would die with acne. Now, I can celebrate renewed skin! Everyone's skin and body is different, but I'm confident it will work for most people. Please visit your doctor and ask about Yasmin and Tetracycline! Don't give

Pros:

Good birth control
Regulates periods eventually
No cramps (eventually)
Bigger breasts (might be a con for some)

Cons:

Awful breakout (hopefully intial)
Bigger, sore, breasts (already had a large cup size pre yasmin)
One month period (stopped after beginning second pack)
Hungry all the time (slight weight gain, 1-2 kilos)- please note, these cravings aren't bad, and easily controlled, i'm just on holidays atm
Possible hair thinning (not a massive issue as i have a lot of hair, but i like my thick hair, so hopefully this isn't an actual side effect and it's just winter shedding/the way i've been

For acne: I had crystal clear skin all through my teen years, one or two pimples a year, until i turned 18 i started having mild breakouts.Started with small pimples in my hairline, spread to entire forehead (though my entire forehead cleared up eventually on it's own) I have no cysts/whiteheads, just very red pimples, they aren't sore, or hard, kind of flat, ranging from tiny pin pricks, to around the size of the top end of a pencil. they can't be popped and will last 1-2 weeks. i get atleast three a week. I have these, on my cheeks, hairline, and around my mouth (starting from corner of lips) i also have pretty bad blackheads around my nose that sometimes get inflamed and sore. So far, the pill has made all this worse, lots more dots, but i'm finally getting heads (unattractive, but they heal faster) i also have pimple like things in eyebrows, which i've never had before. I say pimple-like, b/c they're small, hard and sore, but they're also very itchy. i'm hoping this is an intial breakout. Im on my second month. I WILL write back if/as soon as my skin improves, detailing how long it takes etc. I do believe it has to get worse before getting better though For a pill, it does the job in preventing pregnancy. Being hungry all the time isn't too bad, just need self control, i'm on holidays and have been giving into the cravings, but they're not gut wrenchingly bad. Period pain and month long period first month, but subsides. sore sore breasts, that are HUGE, i have big breasts naturally, so im hoping weightloss will descrese their size. My hair has been falling out alot- but i cannot remember if it was doing this before i got on the pill. For the past three months, i've been wearing it in a high bun, and not using conditioner (very lazy, the bun will stay untouched until i wash my hair, it's also winter) i'll stop this and note if there's changes. it is expensive $25 a month, but worth trying. DO NOT GIVE UP, stick with it ! will re-

Pros:

-decrease in unwanted body hair
-eventual decrease in acne

Cons:

-mood swings
-increased apetite
-acne was worsened before it was better
-slight decrease in libido
-the risk of blood clots is worrying (even if you don't smoke)

I had come off b.c for four months and in that time had developed excess chin & body hair and terrible breakouts along my jaw and cheeks, as well as back and chest. Tried yasmin instead, and initially (first three months) my acne became worse, far more cystic and painful. I am on the fourth month now and all of a sudden my face is almost completely clear! And I've noticed it my excess hair is becoming softer and less noticeable! So far I'm quite pleased with this pill, it was worth sticking out those awful three months! My only concern now is of Yasmin being a greater risk than other b.c for blood clots. I'm a non-smoker, but there's still a risk. Not a bad b.c if you're willing to chance it, and wait out that initial break out. Also I found that other b.c pills I've tried (Alesse, Tri Cycline, Ortho 777) killed my sex drive, but Yasmin isn't too bad so far. fingers crossed!

Pros:

Clear skin
No Cramps
Lighter Period

Cons:

Tender Breasts
5-10lb weight gain

I have been on this pill for 4 years, and I have had no problems at all with it. I used to have really bad acne til I started using Yasmin. About a month after I started to take it my acne cleared up. Now I have little or none at all! Have not had any problems with anything else. I live in Canada and I pay full price here for it and it really isn't that bad of a price.

Pros:

-After IB, kept my skin clear
-Worry free for the year the I was on it
-Rarely needed foundation
-Consistent period
-Bigger boobs
-No bacne
-no cystic acne

Cons:

-Initial breakout lasts about 3 months
-Hair loss
-Gained 5-10 pounds
-Expensive if you have no insurance (70ish at walmart)
-still had annoying tiny bumps on forehead
-My doctor thought the Yasmin may have been linked to why I had been sick so often

I really loved how clear my skin was while i was taking Yasmin! I never thought about cysts, although I did still get the little bumps on my forehead, which I should have got a cream to take care of. My bacne was gone; for the first time in my life i could wear swimming suits without being self conscious. Also, my boobs were quite big on Yasmin. I ran out of Yasmin and 6 months after discontinued use, everything went back to normal. I lost the 5-10 pounds of weight, my bacne started to appear, and acne started creeping all over my face. It's almost been a year off the Yasmin, and my face is pretty bad... Why do I not go back on it? Well the other thing that returned back to normal is my hair stopped falling out. My hair used to fall out like crazy! I would sob about it. Six months off yasmin and that changed. I am currently trying retina a and duac. I may try another BC again. Bottom line is, if you don't get the hair loss side effect, I recommend Yasmin.

Pros:

- Stabilized acne (slowly getting clear)
- No more cystic acne or painful pimples (!)
- My hair is not oily anymore
- Less noticeable facial hair
- Fast results

Cons:

- Occasional digestive problems (slight constipation).
- Lowers water retention, so I have to drink and pee more often than normal.
- Occasional fatigue in the afternoon after lunch (bothersome as a student!)
- My breasts are slightly bigger but harder to the touch, and this can sometimes be painful.
(I can't comment about my sex-drive because I've never had one anyway, and I can't comment about weight gain either because I don't usually keep track of it, sorry!).

About a year ago I had a sudden outbreak of acne on my face. Unlike most people, I had never experienced serious acne during my teenage years (I'm 23), so it was really a shock for me. My left cheek was covered with spots, cysts and scars (on which new spots always developped, leaving more scars); and I had frequent outbreaks of painful cysts on my jawline, my hairline and my brow. My acne was getting from bad to worse over time no matter what I did, and in time it spread to my chest, my arms and my back. To make things worse, I realized a month ago that I was starting to grow facial hair. It had reached the point where I didn't want to go out anymore unless I really needed to, and staring at my face in the mirror every morning had become a challenge. I usually don't consider myself unattractive, but my self-confidence had never been so low. I went to see my dermatologist who told me that I had hyper-androginy and that I should try taking Yasmin. He promised me it would clear my acne in 3-6 months, get rid of my facial hair, and stop my hair from getting oily so quickly; but that I wouldn't gain weight from it. The results were not really noticeable until 2 weeks into the treatment. I'll be reaching the end of my first tablet tomorrow and my acne appears to be stabilized. I still get occasional pimples, but they are so tiny you can barely see them from afar. Now that my acne is stabilizing, my scars are starting to heal; and I'm slowly rebuilding my confidence. My hair is also much less oily (I can stay for 5 days without needing to wash them, unlike 2-3 days before). My facial hair is still there, but it's much less noticeable. After reading other reviews and hearing horror cases, I consider myself lucky that I saw results so fast with no serious side-effects from taking Yasmin. I'm also glad this pill is available for free in the UK. I'll knock on wood and hope it will stay this effective until the end of my prescription!!
