Pros:

No weight gain, no bloating, effective birth control, clearer skin.

I was on diane 35 first when my doctor switched me to yasmin saying it would do about the same thing for my skin. In Canada yasmin is fairly cheap around $10-12 before your pharmacy fee, so the price is definatly right. After switching i noticed no major side effects and my acne didn't get worse as i was scared it would have. It's been about a year now that i have been taking yasmin, and with the recent scare over yasmins side effects it's important you don't smoke, you eat well and stay fit while on this pill. i would say my skin isn't 100% clear, i still get a little whitehead here and there but nothing really noticable(i used to have grade 4 acne), so i'm definatly happy with yasmin.

Pros:

clear skin, no excess body/facial hair, thicker hair on my head, stabilized mood

Cons:

when i went off all the pros are reversed.

i had acne everywhere, then went on yasmin and my skin cleared up to the point that i rarely ever even had the slightest imperfection on my face and i was only using cetaphil cleanser each night and water in the morning. When i went off it my hair started falling out in clumps (thank god i have a very very full head of hair), it did start growing back after a month or so... the worst part about going off the pill is that my skin has completely broken out and looks almost as bad as it did pre-yasmin. :(

Pros:

clear skin, lighter periods, bigger boobs,

Cons:

none

Went on this pill because of really bad acne, after 2 months my skin had already begun to clear up and now after 4 months is spot free. Although it worked for me, doesn't work for everyone like every other pill, it worked for my sister, but not for my friend.

Works for me 😊
I am a 24 year old woman & suffer from horrible hormonal break outs. I get sore, swollen, cystic spots around my chin area & they can last weeks & weeks. I was prescribed duac a few years ago & this worked fine for me until about 9 months ago when it stopped working (antibiotics can become less effective after long use) so I went back to my doctors & was told about yasmin. I decided to give it a go despite the mixed reviews, & I am so glad I did! My skin is so much better! I got one large spot a couple of weeks into starting Yasmin, but this was normal for me as this is when I would get all these aggressive spots. However the spot went within a few days which is really quick for me, & I can honestly say I haven't had another cystic spot since. I get the odd little one sometimes, but they're so small you can barely see them! I used to be on microgynon30 before I changed to yasmin, & I have had no weight changes, nothing has really changed other than much better, less oily skin. I do get a bit of a headache as im coming off my period, but this is quite normal. I also feel a little different down below, I know it sounds strange but I smell a little different, not in a bad way, ive just noticed a slight change. This is obviously just because my hormones have changed 😊 I would definitely give this a go :) I didn't suffer an initial break out but I know some women can, so give it time to work. I noticed better skin after about 4 weeks on yasmin, & my skin is still clear today.. Good luck! Acne is such a horrible thing to live with! X

Since taking Yasmin the first week did you also got any downsides, such a more pimples?? Or did it immediately improved
December 18, 2012

Pros:

Completely cleared skin
Less oily hair and skin
Softer hair
Softer skin
Free (unlike BP)
No weight gain
No side effects after first few months
Bigger boobs
Regular periods

Cons:

Side effects in the first month - headaches, mood swings, nausea, increased period pain.

STICK AT IT FOR A FEW MONTHS! I saw no improvement at all in the first few months, and then suddenly all the side effects disappeared, I stopped getting new spots, and now have completely clear skin. I had used BP for almost 6 months beforehand (exactly as instructed) and saw no improvement, just consistently oily, flaky skin. For me, this was the wonder drug. Background info: I've had acne since I was 8 years old, plus irregular periods, a bit of excess hair etc, so there was probably a hormonal issue that Yasmin fixed. If you're similar, Yasmin could help you :)

Pros:

Clear Skin - once over initial few months!
Painless Periods
Regular Cycle
Better Moods
All over has worked for me!!

Cons:

Nausea when I first started taking it (a few months)
Takes at least 4 months to work
Skin gets worse over first 4 months

This pill worked wonders for me. Before I started taking, I had irregular, heavy painful periods and mild - medium acne on my chin and lower face area. I had painful sore and very noticable spots all around my mouth and chin which was very distressing having never suffered with spots ever before. I've been taking Yasmin since May 2011 and Since September 2011 I have had crystal clear skin! I still get the very very occasional spot around my period but overall my skin is perfect. I was 25 when I started taking yasmin. My skin initially got much much worse to the point that it was so sore and painful, the spots were impossible to cover with make-up. During the initial few months I combined yasmin with Isotrexin gel, which is a combination of isotretionin & antibiotics used to treat acne. This gel helped manage the bad few months I had, but now I dont need to use it. Do not suffer with your acne, please try Yasmin, it has worked for me and its hard going but you have to stick it out (be patient)!! Oh and now my periods last for 1 day and are painfree and light! Bonus!

Pros:

It cleared up my skin almost entirely after about 12 years of unrelenting acne
It eliminated period pains and PMT - I used to be something of a PMT monster...

Cons:

It took about three to four months to really get used to this pill, and I did experience some initial side-effects, including a very vicious breakout in month two, occasional nausea, and big (swollen) boobs

My dermatologist prescribed Yasmin to me as a last resort before Accutane, after I explained that I hadn't really been able to continue long on other birth control pills due to side effects (particularly mood swings, which made me feel like I had lost all control over my own emotions). She wanted me to persevere with this for at least three months to see whether there would be any improvement in my skin. The first couple of months were a bit rocky - I had a breakout on my chin that was the worst I have ever had, and the scars from that took a few months to fade. I did experience some other minor side effects, but nothing that gave me massive cause for concern. After about three months, I really felt like my skin had turned a corner, and it was looking clearer than I had seen it since my early teens before the acne attacked; a year later my skin is lovely and clear, the scars have had time to heal, although I'll probably always have a couple of them to remind me what I went through! Initial side effects have vanished and I feel really good. All in all I'm thankful every day that I stuck with this pill.

The longer you're on it, the worse the acne will be, and he longer it will last, when you get off it ...
