Pros:

Does not taste bad, easy to take. Seems to be working on facial acne a bit.

Cons:

SERIOUS WEIGHT GAIN. Nausea. Terrified of effects once stopping taking it.

Have had acne for ages, sick of it have to spend two hours getting ready before I can be seen by family or go out in public. Severe self esteem issues caused by the acne, tried a tetracycline which was inneffective & on zinneryt still. Have only been using dianette for 2 weeks but have already put on considerable weight with no increased appetite, face clearing slightly. I'm not sure whether it's worth the acne being so much worse upon stopping taking it, terrified about stopping taking it after long term useage & considering ending it after the first month. Also gives the worst throat acid which makes you feel like your guts are leaking out your throat.

Pros:

Clear Skin

Cons:

Acne is back with a vengence! - fertility problems???

I was put on the Dianette pill mainly due to acne in my teens - my skin cleared up great and only had the occasinal spot - I stayed on the dianette pill for 14 years before I had a break and stopped to try and start a family. Within 6 months my acne was back 10 times worse than ever before, my skin was really greasy and so was my hair. I felt like teenager and my confidence has been knocked. I also have had fertility problems, suffering 3 miscarrages and had both fallopian tubes removed due to ectopic pregnancys so now I cannot have children naturally. Other people are questioning fertility problems after being on the pill for so long so I wonder if this is a coincidence?

Pros:

So far I have been on it for just over 2 months So Far, my skin is starting to get smoother and less bumpy. Shorter, less painful periods. Works well as birth control and less thinner body hair

Cons:

Still breaking out but I think its cause my skin is cleaning out alot of gunk i had underneath the surface as I had alot of small skin lumps that had built up sebum in them. I cry more easily & put on about 5 lbs

Well I still have a couple more months to be on it, so i cant say for sure if it will work or not. My skin was quite bad before with small bumps underneath the skin surface also with larger pimples and cysts so it may take longer to work as my skin was so bad. I don`t feel depressed although I cry more easily but thats not a big deal. I put on a bit of weight but its almost gone as I started eating better and working out more. I hope my skin gets flawless as i have been getting pimples since i was 13 yrs old so having clear skin would be amazing. The only thing is here in canda it is more expensive as far as birth control goes.

I'm into my 3rd month of using this, and my periods are far more regular than they were. I have mild scoliosis, and whereas my back pains got worse around my period, they're far better than before. My skin did get better during the first month, but now is worse than before i started taking the pill. I've also found that my breathing isn't quite right. I suffered from asthma badly as a young child, but have outgrown it to a certain extent. However I've needed to use my inhaler at least twice a day for the past few days, and during the first few days of going on Dianette. I'm definitely going back to my GP to change this, but i'm not sure whether to wait til i finish the packet. I'm only 15, and this is the first pill i've tried, so i'm not sure that the side-effects are bad enough to change to another, which could potentially be worse :S

Worth trying
I took Dianette for 18 months for acne. I didn't have any bad side effects, although I was a bit achey the first month or so, this wore off. It didn't do wonders for my acne but it did calm it down quite a lot. I say it's worth trying (especially if you take a contraceptive pill anyway) as it did help, and others have had great success. I have since come off Dianette and went onto Cilest, which I would highly recommend as it cleared my skin up within a month. (Unfortunately I got really bad water retention so now have to switch after 4 months, and I'm gutted to come off it, but others may not get this side effect :) )

Great first time, not so great second time

Pros:

Worked first time round

Cons:

Caused bad periods

I first started this years ago and it cleared me up and gave me amazingly flawless skin. Unfortunately I had to come off it for 2 years, when I started again it didn't make any difference to my acne.

Pros:

Has improved my skin slightly and made my hair and skin less greasy.

Cons:

I already have a size 'F' cup boobs and they now must be al least an 'H', too big for me!!! I have only been using it for 6 weeks and therefore have only had 1 period but it was really painful, they aren't usually.

Hmmm.....worrying about what will happen when I come off it. I'm really tempted to come off it the now so that the side effects of coming off it are mild...worrying that the effects may be really bad. I don't feel as if it's made that much of a difference to justify it's use...I would recommend Lymcycline which I also take in conjunction with this pill, have been taking that for about 8 months and that made a big difference to my skin initially, after a while my skin stopped improving but stayed at the same level, so I now have light acne, I would say, compared to quite severe before. I was prescribed Dianette to clear up my remaining acne, but I don't think it has helped that much. Still confused anyway...

Pros:

cleared all my spots after about 2 months

Cons:

when i came off, spots came back, same as before!

i was on dianette for about 7 months for my skin and it cleared it up fully within about 2 months, i was delighted! i had no other side effects, no weight gain, moods, cramps etc! when i stopped taking it because i was going travelling for 6 months my skin got bad again, well the same as it was before, not much worse but im really depressed about it, if you have spots you know it puts you in a bad mood all day! so i decided i would go back on it until people started telling me about the fertility aspect and acne coming back way worse. my periods are really irregular, 2 yrs ago i didnt get a period for 9 months, then a yr ago i didnt get one for 6 months until i started the pill again and this yr since i came off ive had 3 normal periods and they have stopped again. im considering going back on just because it the easy way to get rid of spots for the time being but now after reading all the horror stories im not sure. maybe it makes you periods irregular and gives you more spots?

Pros:

To be honest my skin wasn't that bad anyway. If I avoid saturated fat it seems to prevent spots

Cons:

Vomiting a lot!! Nausea. Lots of bloating, feel huge and disgusting. Boobs the size of france which hurt like hell!

I don't think my skin was bad enough to go on this. I basically said "I am prone to acne" to my doctor and was given this one. I am heading back next week to see if I can get something which doesn't leave me looking like Dolly Parton! Note: I tried taking it at 9 to lessen the nausea but found I was vomiting at 3-4am instead. Nice!
