Pros:

Cleared up my skin!

Cons:

Appetite is huge.
Worried to come off Dianette incase skin returns to how it used to be.

I've been taking Dianette for around 7/8 months now. It helped my skin a hell of a lot and the only advice I can give to people is to stick with it - For the first few months my skin actually got worse and I was in a horrible mood for most of that time. However my skin is under control now and I feel great. Acne is no longer a problem in my life!

Pros:

Most side effects calm down after a couple of months, skin significantly less greasy, I feel noticeably less hormonal (a combination of symptoms invovled here, which included acne flare ups and PMS), skin smoother, less irritation and fewer breakouts

Cons:

Some side effects - for me, very dry eyes, an increased appetite so I really have to watch what I eat, and occasionally sore breasts. Other than that, nothing major.

Different types of pill will have varying effects on different people - Dianette may agree very well with one person, and not at all with another. It's all about trying out what suits you best and finding a good 'fit', hormonally. It's extremely important to have a sympathetic doctor who will work with you on this one. Dianette works very well for me. I took it first for six months and it completely cleared my skin, but I was afraid of fertility complications down the road if I stayed on it too long. Big mistake! I was ill-informed and had listened to too many scare stories. Now back on for just over a year, with few side effects and good skin. My doc says the formula is so refined now, this is completely acceptable (to keep taking it continuously).

Pros:

Only been on this for 4 weeks but already noticebale difference, seems to shrink the affected patches of skin.

Cons:

Initial itchy/red rash that appears within the 2nd and 3rd week of starting treatment; this soon goes though. Only other side effects were mild headaches for the first 3 days

I'm 21 and have just been prescribed Dianette for mild/moderate acne within the last 4 weeks. I have seen an improvment in my skin already, however I have a lot of questions about how this pill works - I do not suffer from oily skin at all, in fact the skin is normal, and my acne that has flared up is in fact an allergic reaction to another med (before this my skin was completely clear). My GP believes that what this reaction caused was an acne-like dermatitis/rash, and therefore said I'd need to treat it with something - as a result Dianette has been given. But I wonder if this was a wise move because as I said, what I have is an allergic reaction to another tablet, and not the type of acne that starts in the typical way.I do not get spots as a result of hormone probs or excess oil - maybe Dianette is wrong for me. Does anybody have an opinion on my case? More harm than good?

Pros:

Helps clear spots.

Cons:

Patience is needed - in my case i found it takes at least a good 2 months to clear spots and a couple more months to help with the red marks and general improvement of skin.

Dianette is very good for clearing acne and im impressed with the reults. I found within 2 mths of using it it cleared my skin and this made me very happy as my skin was constantly breaking out. The down side I have experienced mood swings and depression.. i have kinda lost my spark a bit and my libido has vanished! Thinking of coming of it and trying yasmin as I think this will be better all round. Will keep you posted.

Cons:

May make you put on weight (my friend got kinda moody from it but she didnt gain any weight!)

I was on this pill for about a year and it was amazing my skin was flawless..perfect but i did put on about a stone NOT GOOD! When i came off it i lost the weight agen quickly and my skin stayed clear for about 6-12 months after but now its creeping back..not as bad as it used 2 be though (im 18 now) but i want my clear skin back again! Going to try some oral antibiotics as topical solutions dry out skin too much and arnt that effective!

Works but not a permanent fix
I was prescribed this from my GP at 17 yrs old after many failed topical treatments. I actually took this for about a year on and off (which is terrible I know) . Ill outline the pros and cons instead of writing an essay because Id rather just get to the point. Pros: -Cleared my acne to an extent, this includes bacne/neck/chest (I still got the odd spot here and there while on this) - It will work if your acne is hormonal -No initial breakout (for me at least) -Bigger boobs (embarrassing because I already was quite big but my boyfriend at the time was happy;) lol) Now on to the cons: -You cannot take this in the long run so it does give you false hope. Yeah its great while you're on it. You'll have beautiful skin and be ready to conquer the world but the second you come off this your skin will possibly break out again. It wont be as severe as the acne you had before but yeah you'll still break out. (This happened to me, it may not be the same for you) -Weight gain. I gained approx. two stone from taking this. For some reason this made me crave terrible food thus adding the pounds. :( -Random black hairs popped up in strange places while taking this -Pains in the lower leg region and bruising -God awful anxiety (not being able to leave the house) -High blood pressure -Terrible migraines -Paranoia (I was convinced I had a brain tumor -extreme I know) -Made me moody/emotional (I once cried when my sister sat on some oreos I had on a plate...physically sobbed so .. yeah:D) Now I'm not going to totally bash Dianette/Diane because it does work wonders in the short term. I felt great while I was on this, so confident. Unfortunately the side effects I was having scared me to death..Would I consider ever trying it again?-NO. But I would recommend it. Everybody is different, just because I had those side effects doesn't mean you will. I also had a terrible doctor (I've changed doctors since) who didn't monitor me properly and I think just gave me this to shut me up. Also I cringe every time I think of me being 16/17 and being on a drug this powerful. It makes you think of all the toxic crap we put in our system to eradicate this disease. So give it a bash if you want but just be careful, read the side effects and monitor yourself on it, if you get adverse reactions speak to your doctor and come off it. Good luck:)

Pros:

it does clear acne
Free on NHS
contraceptive
small pill

Cons:

you have to be very patient!
caused slight stretch marks
headaches but nothing major

I have been on dianette for nearly 6 months and only in the past week my skin has cleared up. I have been very close to quitting after reading bad reviews but this pill does work eventually, it just takes a long time! for the weight gain - my breasts are noticeably larger ( not a problem) however I have noticed slight stretchmarks on my inner thighs. I'm not overweight atall so this did confuse me but with a little coca butter I'm sure it's not that big of a problem! Good luck to everyone trying to find a solution. This is just personal side effects - it varies for everyone!

Pros:

-Clears Acne Significantly
-Bigger Boobs

Cons:

-Migraines First few months
-Weight gain
-Initial Breakout

First 2-3 months of using this I had the worst migraines I have ever had and my skin was breaking out more than ever! but I wanted to have clear skin so bad that I stuck through it, despite the pain I was in for a good few weeks.. but i am SO glad that I did. I've been on it nearly a year now and the initial breakout went after about 5-6 months and I now do not have one spot on my face, however I am left with ugly red marks which I am having trouble fading! End of the day Dianette is a miracle product and in all honesty I am scared to come off in case the acne returns before I can fade the scars. Would definately recommend this product and remind people not to be scared off by the side effects during the first few months as they DO go away!

Pros:

Spots cleared after a few months. Less period pain. Fewer PMT symptoms.

Cons:

Huge appetite. Dry eyes (can't wear my contact lenses now).

When I developed scarring acne as an early teenager the option of the Pill wasn't mentioned once. I was given multiple antibiotics and face creams, then had a course of Roaccutane. This cleared things for 5 years then the acne returned. Dianette has really helped, but I do have a much bigger appetite than I used to have.

Pros:

clears acne
skin less oily
stops period pains

Cons:

remembering to take it daily
can take a few months to see difference

I started using Dianette when i was 16 as i had quite bad spots on face and back. After 6 months my skin was clear and not oily at all. I would still get the occasional spot but nothing major. as for side affects i never had any even after being on it for so long. I stopped taking it a year ago after being on it for 8 years. i read in lots of reviews that it shouldnt be taken for very long due to long term side affects, so i though i would come off it to see how my skin and body react. After 2 months my period returned and so did some spots, how ever not as much as before. A year on i am still off dianette and have been using Benzoyle Peroxide on for my spots it seems to be working i still get the odd breakout around my period time. have notice my mood has been more up and down and peroid pains are back but i'm going to carry on without for now.
