Pros:

Less oily skin, have had very few new pimples after only 2 week of using it, used to have atleast one new pimple a day. Already had light periods, now they are virtually non existent.

Cons:

Sickness. Tiredness. Stomach cramps. Not sure if it's related but have noticed my eyesight has become blurry last few days.

I have been using Dianette for 2 weeks now and have a noticable difference already. My skin is less oily, fewer spots and i am very much looking forward to what results i will have in 3-6 months time after suffering for 7years. The sickness and tiredness only lasted about a week and have been fine since. Stomach cramps has only happened twice but is very painfull and i'm hoping it goes away as quickly as the other symptoms. Alot of people have said it has affected their mood in a negative way. I personally have found the complete opposite, although i think this may be as i am so excited about finally having something which will give me a nice complexion. I already suffered from a lazy eye and i am not certain if the blurry eyes is related to the dianette in any way.

Pros:

skin much less greasy
really cleared skin up
regular periods

Cons:

mood swings
acne returns once than ever when you stop taking it.

I was put on dianette about six years ago . I had been suffering from acne since a teenager and nothing the GP prescribed for me worked that well . I thought by 20 ( when i was prescibed dianette) that roaccutane was the only answer but was very reluctant to take it 'cos i'd heard so many side effect horror stories. I was very surprised to find that after 2-3 months of taking dianette my skin had really improved and after apx 4 months it was more or less clear which for me is pretty amazing . I have had three breaks from dianette and every time my acne has returned , the first time it was worse than ever , i had massive spots on my back and spots on my chest and neck - not good!. The third time i took a break from it my skin wasn't THAT bad tbh i decided i could live with it and was off dianette for 6 months . I have gone back on it for contraceptive purposes really but i'll take dianette over any other pill as it does make me virtually spot free !. The down side is dianette does give me awful mood swings ..mainly around the time of my period . I get very over emotional and frustrated . I am sure dianette is the cause as that hasn't happened in my breaks from it.

Pros:

Clearer skin with the occasional spot, Breasts grow, reduces hair growth and lighter periods

Cons:

Weight gain which is a lot harder to shift, Only a temporary solution and moderate to severe depression

After being on dianette for two year my doctor told me I had to come off it, since then my skin has got a lot worse, so it does work but it is only a temporary solution. The side effects such as depression and weight gain, were terrible but I have lost the weight easily since coming off it and I am happier. But if you can cope with the mood swings and are looking for a quick fix this is the drug for you.

Pros:

No spots, stops greasy hair and skin, body hair becomes much less noticeable (particularly arms for me), lighter pani free periods. Easy to take, contraceptive effects also

Cons:

Irritates IBS, loss of sex drive, makes you sick if you take more than 1 in a day, contraceptive effects (if you want to get pregnant obviously)

This is the best treatment for acne I have ever used. Ever since coming off it in a attempt to get pregnant I have had greasy skin and hair to the point where it makes my eyes sore, acne and horrendous periods.

Pros:

Spots cleared after a few months. Less period pain. Fewer PMT symptoms.

Cons:

Huge appetite. Dry eyes (can't wear my contact lenses now).

When I developed scarring acne as an early teenager the option of the Pill wasn't mentioned once. I was given multiple antibiotics and face creams, then had a course of Roaccutane. This cleared things for 5 years then the acne returned. Dianette has really helped, but I do have a much bigger appetite than I used to have.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin!

Cons:

Appetite is huge.
Worried to come off Dianette incase skin returns to how it used to be.

I've been taking Dianette for around 7/8 months now. It helped my skin a hell of a lot and the only advice I can give to people is to stick with it - For the first few months my skin actually got worse and I was in a horrible mood for most of that time. However my skin is under control now and I feel great. Acne is no longer a problem in my life!

Pros:

On my 4th month of Dianette now, but everything is still the same : (

Cons:

skin is still the same, do get sore breasts but no increase in size (would have been a plus for me)

Been on it for nearly 4 months now, havnt seen any improvement at all. Stil have the same acne i started off with. After reading all the comments seems like everyones had postive results in short amount of time apart from me. Breasts do get sore sometimes, but no increase in size. Just feel like giving up now, after trying so many things Dianette was my last attempt to clear my acne. I jus seem to be very unlucky nothing works on me : (

Pros:

Cleared my skin and more controlled periods. I also used Neutrogena Oil free Gel wash and azelaic acid for face.

Cons:

Breast tenderness and doesn't really help with period pains.

I suffered severe acne, couldn't find anything that worked. I started using NEUTROGENA oil-free gel wash which did dry up the oil on my skin, but still got breakouts, which left me with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation........:( so frustrating. Then my GP gave me DIANETTE (once every day) to treat acne from internally and AZELAIC ACID as a tropical cream to treat the acne as well as hyperpigmentation. I'm not sure, which was helping the acne most, but all 3 of these combined together works wonders! Trust me and try it, for me, I started seeing difference in 4 weeks. I know lots of you are so tired of trying OTC products and getting depressed when they don't work, which triggers more breakouts, instead of wasting money on expensive dermatology treatments, please try this! It REALLY WORKS! ask your GP for advice.

Pros:

Has started to reduce hirsutism (excess hair) already after 2 months. Has increased breast size. Good contraceptive. Can kick start a normal cycle/pattern of menstruation

Cons:

Slight nausea. It is not preferable for long term (but no hormonal contraceptive is). Dianette can increase your appetite but if you eat healthily you should not gain much weight. If you have severe acne and gain weight rapidly you may have PCOS

Dianette is helping with my hirsutism as I have PCOS of a very slight form. I have never had acne in my life so cannot comment on that aspect of it. I requested this contraceptive from my GP as it is best to reduce excess hair. As a midwife I have an understanding of how the drug works and the risks associated. ALL contraceptives have risks and dianette is no different to the other forms. I would not recommend anyone to be on any contraceptive long term without fully understanding the possible implications. I only plan to be on this drug for a maximum of 6 months to regulate my cycle.
