Pros:

cyctic acne cleared a bit, hair stopped falling out

Cons:

skin not totally clear. weight gain. no change in body/face hair.

I've been on this drug for 6 months and at first I just gained weight and my hair stopped falling out (which was good). I was quite thin 38 kg (though I do have PCOS)and am now about 48 kg. I have had rapid weight gain on my bumb, hips and stomach in the last two months. My skin has cleared a little but it's still 'problem' skin. I have noticed no change in body/face hair growth. I will speak to my doctor about another treatment because if I continue to expand at this rate I'll be enormous, plus all the symptoms of skin/hair have not gone away. Also dianette takers are at risk of VTE - a heart attack caused by blood clot basically - make sure your doctor knows your family history of vte etc before taking drug., and increased chances of depression - make sure your doctor is aware of your risk of this pr. check the web. It's hard to say if you should take it. When you're skin is really bad (and painful!) you want relief. Keep asking your doctor for other treatments/ drugs.

Pros:

I went on Dianette at the age of 17 for my acne. It did help and certainly when I came off it a couple of years later my skin flared up again - it stopped me going out. It made my boobs bigger but sore, I put on weight, also reduced excess bodyhair.

Cons:

I have been on Dianette on and off for 10 years. I have recently gone back on it after a break of over a year. In the first month of taking it again I have been palpably listless and melancholy.

I can now see how this drug has affected my mood over the years and not in a good way. I always attributed my moods to other things but it's now really clear that they're so strongly linked to taking this pill. I wonder how my life could have so different - had I not been taking this drug for most of my twenties.

Pros:

Cons:

depresion, weight gain, cramps,no improvment on facial hair, loss of libido,

i have been taking dianette for about 5 months now and i am really thinking of coming off them ,they make me feel really low,i dont feel like sex i get cramp and i still havent seen an improvment in my facial hair. is all this really worth it just to see a little improvment on my spots ? my poor hubby probably doesnt think so. he just thinks i dont fancy him any more.so i think its back to doctors ive had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh and i also grew a whole cup size and put on half a stone.

Pros:

Bigger boobs, improved skin

Cons:

Takes ages to work

I've never had amazing skin, but at the age of 23 I developed full blown acne out of the blue. I tried several courses of antibitoics and creams such as benzyl peroxide but nothing worked. After much convincing, I managed to get my Doctor to put me on Diannete, even though I'm classified as obsese. I was so depressed about my skin I decided to accept the risks and go for it anyway. It's been three months now and I've noticed some change, although I'd still my acne is still quite bad. I've noticed that my skin goes through spells of being really clear and then really bad. I'm not sure if anyone else found this? Anyway, I'm going to stick with it as I don't want to go on Roacutane and hope that in time my skin improves. Fingers crossed!

Pros:

Bigger boobs (yay), contraceptive, small tablet, reduces acne (may clear up but it hasn't been long enough)

Cons:

headache and loss of apatite for the first few days, stomach ache, have to get prescription

Ive only used dianette for about 9 days and it has already reduced my acne but not completely. I'll update if I see any changed in my skin and see if it's improved later on :D ( fingers crossed). The reviews are varied so I think it just depends on everyone individually! Im 17 and only in the last 4 months ive had acne on the sides of my neck and jawline what's really annoying. I as wondering if anyone knows if it's ok to carry on taking the next pack of pills after finishing the first so I miss a period (as im on holiday for a week)? Xxx

Pros:

Clears up hormonal acne, it made me LOSE weight!!

Cons:

It made me completely evil and nasty before my period. PMS like you never knew before!!

I used this pill back in 2002 (Mexico has had it available since several years ago at a steep price), and I lost weight, hair got great, my skin cleared up. I ended up getting off it after 1 year due to the PMS syndrome and being so irritable, I actually hated myself. I was off any pills for a some years, then I went into Yasmine but PEOPLE LOOK OUT!! YASMINE WILL INCREASE YOUR BLOOD SUGAR.. check with your doctor if you should take it or not. Women with PCOS must NOT take Yasmine. I did not know, my Obgyn did not tell me about this possible side effects, I took it for the past couple of years and now I am pre-diabetic. Now my endocrinologist asked me to go back on Diane + a Metformin therapy to counter the problem. You know, being moody beats being DIABETIC... I will learn to control my moods because diabetes is just not an option for me.

Pros:

Greatly reduced symptoms of PCOS, perfect skin and bigger breasts!

Cons:

Mood swings,Hair loss, no sex drive, acne returned worse than ever after a break from this pill

Diagnosed with PCOS in 2001and was perscribed Dianette by a gynocologist.Greatly reduced painful symptoms but experienced severe hair loss and lost all interest in sex. Took a break form it in September 2006 to see if my symptons had changed and was it worthwhile actually taking it. My symptons have greatly imptroved. my hair has stopped falling out and I have a lot more energy, but my skin is worse than ever before. I went to my doctor last week and he suggested Dianette again as the best option for acne, even though I suggested that I try other lighter dose pills or antibiotics. My sister is a nurse and read several articals about dainette in medical journals and is dead againt it. I am getting married in a few months and not really sure what to do now! I'd like my skin to improve without all the other side effects
