Pros:

COMPLETELY cleared my skin of moderate acne (cysts and regular zits, alike).

Cons:

Unsafe to take for longer than 3 months...Also, felt strange pressure in my chest, occasionally (not sure whether to attribute this to the Solodyn or my bra, though)...Costs over $500 without insurance, but I have United so I only paid $40/bottle.

Some seem to have reported serious adverse side-effects as a result of using this product, however as of yet (thankfully) I have yet to encounter any. I think it is very likely that a significant number of ppl could benefit from this medication if taken as directed. I took Solodyn in conjunction with several vitamins (C, E and Zinc) and topical medications (Tazorac, Clearasil acne spot treatment, etc)...I have been off the pill for a week but am now on birth control to compensate for the loss...So far so good!

Pros:

It Works Right Away
One Pill Can Take it with or without food :)

Cons:

None just that you can't lay down for 30 min.

Okay so i am 17, i had clear skin only had like 2-3 pimples at the most on my face at one time. In the summer i broke out REALLY BAD. i was covered in deep painful pimples on my cheeks, chin and forehead, :(. i went to my family doctor and prescibed me a bunch of stuff, which none worked, so he sent me to a derm. the derm prescirbed me Solodyn 65 mg, and i have to say i was a bit skeptical. but now 2 months later my face is clear and looks healthy, i still have the occasional pimple but not as bad they were before. now im just a lil nervous of coming off this stuff! :/

Pros:

Cleared up skin perfectly, got card from my doctor so that copay was $5/month

Cons:

upset stomach, had to take with food or else threw up, yeast infections, severe bruising, light headed (sometimes it got really bad), and once I went off it I looked like a 15 year old again (I'm 22).

What price are you going to pay for clear skin? Is suffering all of the above symptoms worth it? For a while it was for me, until I started hearing that many acne medications cause liver/kidney failure....I'm NOT okay with that.

Pros:

Works in 2-4 weeks. Very quick to get rid of lifelong problems. Not drying like most acne medications.

Cons:

Itchy skin all over body.

Works soo well on my skin! However, my acne was not too severe. I get the painful ones in the cheek areas and occasional ones on chin. I have not had a breakout since about 3 weeks after I started using it.

Pros:

I took Solodyn about 2 years ago and it cleared me up pretty fast (I can't remember how long it actually took).

Cons:

After 2 years of being acne free from this medication, I recently started breaking out again!

Helped with cystic acne on my cheeks!

Pros:

Stuff works as far as I can tell

Cons:

drys skin a little-not a big deal

I'm have been on 90/mg for about a year when I forget the med or just don't take it I break out... It works well on my face not so much on the back. I used zmax generic it worked almost as good and was a little cheaper. overall if you have good insurance try it for awhile

Pros:

Cleared away 80% of acne
almost no side effects like other antibiotics
small pill, easy to take
made pimples smaller

Cons:

initial breakout
didn't make skin 100% clear
had to use medisave cards (made getting refills a hassle)
Pharmacy took a couple days to order pills
Really tired for a couple months while on it

This is a great little antibiotic and doesn't have the nasty side effects of accutane or doxycycline. Been taking it for a little over 3 months. It's worked well for me (everyone is different) but didn't completely eliminate my acne. I still have whiteheads but they aren't very big anymore. Initial breakout was pretty bad, but everything looked up after that. I didn't have bad enough acne for accutane but after that initial breakout it was accutane ready. But i didn't want to damage my body too bad, so i settled for this antibiotic. This product had no negative side effects that i was aware of besides me being really tired.

Pros:

-clears up most acne

Cons:

-insurance doesnt cover it so I have to use the coupon cards
-takes two weeks of taking it to start working
-doesn't help with blackheads

The first two weeks I used it my acne was terrible! It pushes all the pimples under your skin out but after those two weeks it prevents pimples from forming under your skin and my skin cleared up a lot. I still get a pimple or two but they are usually not very big. I can't imagine not having this medicine!
