Pros:

None.

Cons:

Pimples did not improve, side effects were terrible

I took 90 MG for 2.5 weeks. I started to have difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, but I didn't attribute it to the medication at first. I started to get red rashes on my face (my doctor said it wasn't from the medication bc an allergic reaction wouldn't be localized on my face). When I didn't see any improvement, the doctor increased my dosage to 135 mg. I took it for 2 days, and it felt like someone was stepping on my chest the entire time. Breathing became a voluntary act, not an involuntary act. After I stopped the medication, I experienced increased heart rate for several days. After that, for the next couple of days, I was OUT of it, I couldn't concentrate on anything, I couldn't focus, I couldn't enjoy anything. It was a very frightening experience and I wish I never took solodyn.

Pros:

cleared facial acne

Cons:

severe back acne, severe vaginal/anal irritation, swelling and irritation of the eyes

This review pertains only to those allergic to antibiotics. I haven't been prescribed with an antibiotic that I haven't had a bad reaction to yet, and now I can add minocycline to that list. About a week or two into the medication my face cleared beautifully, but my happiness was short-lived as my back broke out HORRIBLY soon after. I noticed some swelling and dryness around my eyes, and chalked it up to some sort of environmental rash. About a month into the medication, my vaginal/anal area broke out with severe itching, redness, swellling, dryness, and the irritated skin has even started to crack and bleed. I've been off Solodyn for almost two weeks now and my adverse side-effects still haven't gone away. Don't even mess with this if you've had bad reactions to antibiotics in the past; the pain isn't worth it!

This drug is not supposed to be used for more than 12 weeks but I am hearing of many people using if for months. Research the serious side effects!

Pros:

None really.

Cons:

-gave me terrible allergic reaction
-did absolutely nothing to help acne

Did nothing for my acne after using it for 11 days. After using it for 11 days, I woke up one morning mysteriously very itchy. I had huge hives and welps all over my body. Allergic reaction much? Yeah. So basically uh its not worth your money. DON'T USE IT. My skin is very sensitive. But yeah I went back to the dermatologist and got Doryx and Aczone and something else...haha good luck with this.

My derm prescribed this to me and I tried it out for four days, until I couldn't bear the migraines anymore. Migraines and lethargy were the two negative side effects I experienced from using this drug - and they were bad enough that I threw the pills out after four days. My acne has since gotten dramatically worse. This was just my personal experience, so I can't in good faith recommend it.

Not sure it's worth the pain
I am a 56 yr old female, I have suffered with acne since the age of 13 and have been on every product known to man including accutane twice, Retin A and a host of others, My dermatologist prescribed SOLODYN 55mg about a week and a half ago. I came down with what I presumed to be a stomach flu 2 days ago, I was extremely dizzy (vertigo) ,upset stomach, and very tired , When I got up this morning to take my daily medication I just happen to read the side effects for the heck of it and Viola! It was everything I was feeling for the past 3 days , Unfortunately my doctor wont be in till Tues because of the holidays but I will cease my medication until then and see if it stops and I'm able to return to work.

Pros:

Absolutely Nothing

Cons:

Acne is much worse, dizziness, nausea

I am 26 and have never had acne, maybe a bump here or there around the time of my period. I started taking birth control and was on it for a little over a year, but had to stop since it was making my migraines much worse. After I stopped taking BC, I developed acne for the first time. It's mostly only on my chin. I have been dealing with this for over a year and a half and I was finally prescribed Solodyn 115mg. It has been nothing but a nightmare. First off, my acne started to get worse, and I figured it would be a "gets worse before it gets better" deal, but it just continued to get worse and worse! 4 months later, my acne is the worst it's ever been, incredibly painful, I get really lightheaded from the medication and sometimes nauseous. I have even had to get multiple cortisone shots in my face while on Solodyn because the acne is just so bad. I am going off of it today and just very disappointed in this medication. I do not recommend this to anyone.

Pros:

nothing

Cons:

more acne than already there

please don't judge, but i think i did something dumb while i took this medicine. I took this for a whole week, after dinner. now, could the reason this did NOT work was because i drank wine with 95% ginger ale, affect the way this medicine was supposed to treat my skin? everything i drink bothers my stomach; icea tea, soda, water, juice makes me nauseous for dinner. so i finally found something that worked and i couldn't choose, so i did both lol now, my 2 weeks later, and my skin is like a 12 yr old. it's HORRRIBLE!!! i'm also taking a cream, which would burn my face bc i guess it was exfoliating, and in the morning i was it off with another exfoliating thing. and NOTHING IS WORKING! this is the 2nd dermo i've been to in 5 years. one was too old, just taking my money, and this guy is not using tough medicine. help?
