Cons:

the most severe headache i have ever experienced

I was not able to use this medication long enough to see any results. When you first start to use it, it will push all of your underlying pimples to the surface. Within the first week my face was worse and my clear back was now spotted with pimples. I had to get off the medication because I had a headache that lasted two straight days. I get headaches a lot so im not one who cant function with a headache, but its safe to say this gave me the worst headache i have ever experienced. once i realized my headache was probably due to the medication i stopped taking it and the next day my headache was gone.

Pros:

Cleared up pretty well, eventually

Cons:

extreme hair loss
Nearing the end of my usage (3.5 months) I experienced a level of drowsiness never seen before.

Prior to using Solodyn, I was on Doryx for 5 months. Doryx was great, but 5 months in I broke out badly and my derm put me on Solodyn 115mg. I decided I wanted a second opinion after a month passed and I saw no results. I saw another, very accomplished dermatologist this time. He told me that Solodyn was an effective product, and that I should remain on it and see him again in another 2 months. He made note 115mg was "maybe even a little high for my weight[155lbs]". So I did as told and remained on the Solodyn for another 2.5 months. I began to see improvements in my skin at this point. However, on a rare occurrence I got a spot of acne within the hairline of my forehead. At this point it dawned on my that I could see it rather clearly. Too clearly. I have always had the thickest of thick hair-I consistently got comments from multiple hairdressers from run of the mill places like best cuts where I'd never met the hairdresser before. I'm only 21. At first I was skeptical; maybe I was over-reacting since I don't stare at my hair much as it's always been there and I've never had an issue. But no, sadly it's become extremely thin, not just on top but all over my entire head. I am self conscious to go outside on a windy day at this point. I don't get my hair cut often, maybe once every 2 months. I had a haircut just after starting this medication 3 months ago, and I needed a haircut badly 1 month ago, but as my hair began to fall I find that I no longer need one, and even quite the opposite. I think I've made it clear that I'm quite upset with this. It's only been 1 week since I noticed this happening, I'm sure it's been going on longer. I stopped taking Solodyn immediately after I was certain my hair was falling out (thinning all over my scalp). I do not wish this side effect on ANYONE. Now that I've stopped I'm certain I will soon have both acne AND thinning/no hair. Awful, awful, awful. Please consult someone if you catch this side effect ASAP.

Pros:

this seemed to suppress deep lesions. my new acne looks as if they were smaller than the ones i had a few months ago.

Cons:

but, even if it seems to suppress deeper, painful acne, and prevent them from forming, i still would get other types of lesions. i am still on this! my derm increased the dosage yet the other day broke out with 6 new pimples. my existing pimples are still here. they are now overlapping. i have every intention of changing to something more effective.

i hate this product because it is ineffective. i was on it for 3-4 months. i was kept on it one more month because i told the derm that it may be helping, so she decided to see for one month, this was a mistake. a very large mistake, because it did NOT help in preventing my comedones from flaring up and preventing the surrounding skin to become inflamed with disgusting lesions. god i'm so angry!!!

Pros:

none?

Cons:

I get awful headaches almost daily (that I NEVER had before) in the evenings.

My skin is the worst it's ever been but I don't want to stop an antibiotic in the middle of the treatment. I'm about 5 weeks in, I guess I'll wait it out until the end of the 12 weeks. Ive been very disappointed with this medication, I don't know how much longer I can handle the headaches and breakouts.

Pros:

Seemed to work really well almost immediately.

Cons:

Caused me to have an allergic reaction. Very expensive - Make sure you get the discount card otherwise it's over $500.

For about 3 weeks this product worked great. But then one day I began to itch all over my body uncontrollably. When I stopped taking it the itching started going away, but my acne came back. I'm going to try Doryx, hopefully I'll have better results.

Pros:

Acne noticeably reduced

Cons:

Acne scars began to hyperpigment within a few days
Dizzyness
Anxiety
Insomnia

Helped reduce acne, but for me, the side effects were not worth it. I am much happier on doxycycline.

Pros:

is fairly inexpensive only if your doctor has coupons or a discount card.

Cons:

doesn't seem to work. causes break outs in areas that were previously clear.

i went to a dermatologist for some minor back breakouts that i wanted to clear up before my wedding. i have been on this medication for 6 weeks. my face is completely broken out. i have little bumps all over my forehead. my back is somewhat better but now the breakouts seem to have moved onto my chest. i have never had problems with my face before and my chest was always clearer than my back. even if the breakouts are due to wedding stress, shouldn't an oral medicine that is supposed to combat breakouts from the inside out still work? the doctor's solution to the new breakouts was to use a prescription body wash and face wash. now i find out that i need to be weaned off the meds or the breakouts could return, and return worse. fabulous. maybe i should have just started with the wash.

Pros:

No side effects.

Cons:

Takes forever! And it's extremely expensive w/o insurance. Still breakout and when i don't take it my skin goes ballistic!

It's to expensive and personally i think it takes to long to work, and when you don't take it your face looks terrible! Not worth the price or your time.

Pros:

Cleared up skin a teeensy weensy bit.

Cons:

The cheap tetracylcine pills worked better.

This is crap. For 50$ a month it should be giving me far better results than it has been and I've been on this for four months now. I've just made a dermatologist appointment to tell my doctor to put me on different medication. I'm highly disappointed. I was using this along wiht benzaclin. Benzaclin DOES work but it did dry my skin up a lot. Previously I was just using the clydamicin gel which made my acne much better and didn't dry me up at all. It's funny how the cheap medical products work better than the expensive ones. I used to pay 20$ per month for the prescriptions of tetracylcine and clydamicin. Now I pay 100$ for solodyn and benzaclin. This product doesn't work well. NOT WORTH THE PRICE.
