Pros:

Not very many at all- Just that i didnt get any NEW cystic acne on my left cheek( but that luxury lasted only a week),

Cons:

my whole face got worse- i mean like 5-6 LARGE nodules-

i use with ziana gel- NEVER saw improvement- just SLIGHT temporary results- probably works well for much more milder cases then mine

Caused low white blood cell count

Pros:

Cleared up acne

Cons:

Caused low white blood cell count

This product worked great for me for 2 years. I did not see any negative side effects until I got a routine blood draw. My white blood cell count was so low my doctor suspected Leukemia and recommended a bone marrow test. Thankfully we did our research before proceeding. Solodyn can cause a low white blood cell count and other auto-immune problems (you can find this info on the manufacturer's website). I stopped taking the drug and my count went back to normal!

After you stopped taking the Solodyn, did your acne come back?
October 21, 2009

Pros:

Slightly cleared up acne

Cons:

Gave me HORRIBLE yeast infections!!!!

I will never take this medicine or any of the "cyclines" again. Vaginal itching, discharge, and swelling is not worth slightly clearing up my acne!!!

Pros:

none

Cons:

itchy

OMG! I used Solodyn for two weeks and no improvements at all. It made me so itchy I had to wake up in the middle of the night just to scratch my back. When my brother saw me he was like "dude, you should go to the hospital, what the hell is wrong with your skin" I had a horrible rash all over. Even after I stopped it I still had the itchiness for two more days. It was horrible!

Pros:

None.

Cons:

My 18 year old daughter developed autoimmune hepatitis as a result of taking Solodyn (minocycline) for 5 months.

This drug can also cause lupus. These are very serious autoimmune illnesses. Is it really worth it?

Did absolutely nothing!
I took this medication for about a year after trying many other orals and topicals and my doctor was certain it would clear me up. At first it seemed to help a bit, less noticeable bumps and small break outs. But after a month my skin returned to its normal state. My doctor was convinced that I should stay on the medication and I somehow ended up on it for a year with NO change. One day I decided to stop taking it on my own and honestly my skin improved. At my next appointment my doctor commented on how the medication was finally working and I simply laughed and told her I wasn't even taking it.

Pros:

-made my skin clear up a bit

Cons:

_severeeeee allergic reaction
-"purging" and dryness

so i knnow purging is supposed to happen and the normal drying of the skin, but ive tried soo many product before that i was really accustomed to all that. but what i didnt know was that i was going to have this severe allergic reaction to it!! i started getting hives all over and it was terrible they lasted for 6 weeks, i had to be put on prednisone (steroids) to make the swelling and pain go down. yeah it was bad. but im not saying this to scare you or tell you not to buy it. this is just my own experience and review. before all the reactions happend it seemmed to be working just fine and i was actually really happy about it but them BAM.

Pros:

cheap

Cons:

made my acne worse, upset stomach

I had been using Aczone and Differen topicals and my face was about 80-90% cleared up. I just wanted something to keep my hormonal acne clear during PMS. I wish I would have just been happy with the topicals bc Solodyn turned my few pimples a month into painful itchy inflammed acne ALL over my face, neck, chest, back and even my scalp! I went right away back to the derm bc I was too embarrassed to even leave the house with the condition my face was in.
