Pros:

It DOES Work

No serious Side effects

Cons:

It takes time

Dry Skin

If you're doctor prescribes you solodyn don't give up after one or two weeks. This stuff takes time to work. It has to purge all of the bacteria out of your skin. After about 1-2 months you should start to see results and they are amazing. I was a moderate acne sufferer and started to take this stuff along with retin-a and erithromycin gel about 2 months ago. Face got worse for the first 2-3 weeks but then started to improve dramatically.

Pros:

Clear My face within 1 1/2 months
No side effects
Works best with a combination of topical cream or gel.

Cons:

None

It works trust me! You wont be disappointed! About a year ago I broke out pretty bad, probably the worst I've EVER broken out. We're talking about a person whose had acne for 11 years. Acne and cysts developed on my face, neck, back, shoulders, chest, and back. For three months I tried OTC products but to no avail. I finally decided to see my old dermatologist where he prescribed me 80mg of Solodyn with Epiduo. Within 2 months I was completely clear. Trust me this stuff works. IT ONLY TAKES TIME! :D

Pros:

Works Fast
No side effects
decreases size of pimples quickly

This is the last thing to take before trying accutane. If it keeps working like this, I will not need to try accutane.

Pros:

Once a day.
Clears big, painful acne.
Takes 3 months for comlpetely clear skin.

Cons:

My insurance doesn't cover it.
Can only get through Rx.
Not sure if it's harming my body in the long-run, being an antibiotic.

Wish I was put on this years ago! My deep painful, red embarrassing pimples :) I mail in a pamplit to the company and they mail me the meds, I wish my insurance covered it, I have to switch to a generic brand next month, I hope it works just as well. I'm 22 and have acne since 12 and never got better, only more severe. O happy to have gone on this!

Pros:

Works well, no side effects

Cons:

Can be expensive

Solodyn worked great for me. I used it for 6 months (along with Veltin). I didn't get any side effects with it like I did with Doxycycline (the doxy made me really nauseous and I completely lost my appetite and would get light headed). My insurance covered it with a $20 copay. I was scared to use it after reading some of the reviews on here... But it worked for me! My acne cleared up on my face and body very quickly. I guess you just have to try it and see, everyone is different. I've been off it for 2 weeks now and so far so good!

Pros:

clear, healthy skin; smooth complexion

Cons:

Drowsy

I used to have perfect skin, never had to wear makeup ever. Recently my periods got out of hand and so I went to ask about birth control. Well the birth control I was taking (oral/pills) ignited acne on my forehead. It was nowhere else BUT MY FOREHEAD. And it was disgusting too! They were nodules, cysts, whiteheads, everything you could think of and it hurt so bad! So like anyone else, I went to the dermatologist. This dermatologist that my parents recommended to me gave me a topical gel called Atralin. I was still taking my birth control and using this gel as well. It sort of got rid of it but it was still hurting. It was like every zit that went away, TWO or THREE more formed where it was. It was embarrassing. I tried covering it up with makeup, but that just made it so much worse! :( So my boyfriend recommended his dermatologist to me cause he used to have severe acne (he was a accutane user and his skin has no problems now, ever! He has beautiful skin!!) and so I went to her. Dr. Toni Smith told me to quit using Atralin and she gave me Finacea ( another topical gel) as well as 80mg samples and a prescription to Solodyn. She told me the Finacea gel will smooth out my complexion and get rid of acne scarring. The Solodyn is like Accutane, it stops bacteria in its tracks the moment you use it. I started using Solodyn 3 weeks ago and I saw a difference in just 3 days. NO JOKE. I also read some reviews on this website about solodyn and I was so scared to take it, but I haven't had one side effect besides feeling sleepy in the middle of the day, but that is nothing. I LOVE THIS STUFF! :) Don't be afraid to take Solodyn! It really turned my life around. My boyfriend compliments my skin all of the time now and I don't have to wear make up anymore! none!! I love my skin!

Pros:

Clears up Acne...Great product

Cons:

Extreme flare-ups after discontinuing taking product...Hives

My Solodyn dosage recently increased from 80g's to 105g's. It works great, however it does cause Hives, but I'd rather have hives than acne.

Clears up acne fast
Reduces scarring
$20 with coupon and insurance

Cons:

Mild side effects
Crazy dreams

I've been taking this medication for nearly a month now. Before I started I was very skeptical due some of the gruesome reviews. I started getting acne when I switched my birth control and moved to another state, I am 25 and have never had problems with acne before. At first it was just one cystic pimple a month, then it started getting to be 2-3 in the middle of my forehead and they would not go away. So I tried other face washes, facials, and a ton of over-the-counter medications. Nothing worked. I went to my dermatologist and he prescribed 65mg Solodyn and a topical treatment called Aczone. These two together, along with a recent purchase of the Clarisonic have cleared me up almost completely. I also switched my birthcontrol to a low estrogen pill so that may also be a contributing factor. My skin shows MAJOR improvements and the scarring is beginning to fade. I haven't had any cystic breakouts since I started! I took the medication once in the morning and became very sick and lightheaded so now I take it at night right before bed with a huge glass of water, and the only issue is some very vivid dreams. Granted, I've always dreamed vividly so it may be nothing new, but they seem to be a bit more crazy. Overall, I would recommend this medication, but do be cautious, drink lots of water! I am hoping that I won't have any problems when I stop taking the medication, but so far so good!
