Pros:

none

Cons:

no effect on my skin at all.
horrible headaches
muscle ache
fatigue

wasn't covered by my insurance
so I was given samples by my doctor.

I've been on solodyn for about a month now. I was on 60 mg the first two weeks and it helped prevent a few whiteheads and red bumps for a while. Then my dermatologist put me on 90 mg and it has no effect at all. Actually, I broke out even more especially on the chin and cheek area. I'm going to stop taking this and ask for accutane.

Pros:

It was free with the coupon.
Easy to take.

Cons:

9 days in and my skin is much worse.
I almost fainted during a recent workout, so I'm assuming that's the lightheadedness people have referred to.

I never had acne until I turned 30. It's gotten significantly worse the last year or so, especially since I went off birth control about 6 months ago. I've tried everything (acupuncture, colonics, herbal remedies, facials, face washes, hormones, etc). I mostly break out on my chin, around mouth and under ears. I've been taking this prescription for 8 days and my skin is so much worse!!! I've read that this can happen, but I'm almost too embarrassed to go out in public, it's that bad! Not only are the regular spots completely broken out, but now my entire jaw line is as well. I'm 32 and single is this is just humiliating. I don't know how much longer I can continue to take this, especially since I'm seeing absolutely no improvement. :-(

Pros:

Not one.

Cons:

Broke out worse then ever before, even after being on it for two months.

I am a 19 year old female who has struggled with acne since my junior year of highschool. My guess is hormones, my skin was perfecton freshman and sophmore year...i don't get it. but my skin has only gotton worse as the years go by! I will admit my diet isn't great. AT ALL. But i am trying to make life changes because i am that fed up with my skin!! suggestions? Anyway, My derm perscribed Solodyn after I have tried just about everything. I have barely noticable blackheads on my nose and around my mouth and on my chin, those don't bother me as much as the large cystic acne I get (on my cheeks mainly and sometimes my forehead and every so often my chin). I started taking Solodyn a little over two months ago, within the first week i got a cluster of large cystic acne on my cheek and right along my jaw line, VERY PAINFUL. it has been two months and the cluster still hasn't gone away all the way yet, they are no longer mountains on my face but flat under my skin and very red, its embarrasing. I stopped taking it two weeks ago and the first week off of it my acne only got worse not just on my cheek, everywhere. but here i am week two, cluster still flat red and painful but everything else seems to be clearing up. I most definatly do not recommend this product to anyone. If your like me and want results ASAP don't go this route. some people say if you stick to it five, six months it will start to get better, some say it doesn't work at all...i don't want to wait to find out though, i don't think im good with the "gets worse before it gets better" idea either haha!! I went to my Derm just this morning and he proscribed Doryx, a face wash and a topical since my face is so badly scarred and inflamed. Fingers Crossed. I will be posting that progress soon!! If anyone has any advice i would be SO happy to hear it! Hope i was of some help!

Cons:

- Gave me even worse breakouts
- Gave me body acne where I didn't have it before
- TERRIBLE mood swings
- Chest pains with it
- Hot flashes

I saw my dermatologist's assistant, instead of my dermatologist, and she was NOT upfront with me about the side effects. I explicitly asked about them, and she said there basically were none - just some dizziness on occasion. This couldn't be further from the truth. First off, this drug DOES NOT WORK. Doxycycline took about a couple of weeks to clear up my face once I started using it. If I went off, I would break out but when I started again, I'd be clear in 2-3 days. I've been on Solodyn for 2 weeks and I've gotten MORE breakouts. I've even tried doubling my dosages to make it more effective, and it STILL doesn't work. I went into a meeting at 10:00 and came out at 1:30 with two fully matured, pus-filled pimples, ready to be popped. I get a headache when I take this medicine. It makes me extremely irritable and aggressive. It burns in my chest about 20 minutes after I take it. Oh, and did I mention IT DOESN'T WORK. I wish there was a lower rating than "1." The coupon for the free month's supply was garbage. I've already called my dermatologist to have her switch me back to doxycycline. They're going to have to pick someone else to experiment this Solodyn crap on. I HATE this medication (fyi, I'm the person that people who have known me for 20 years have never seen not smiling, and this rant disguised as a review was written 1.5 hours after taking it - just to show you just how bad the mood swings are). I HATE this drug, and I no longer trust the crappy physician's assistant who put me on it.

Pros:

None

Cons:

After 13 days a horrible rash developed, hives all over skin, swollen joints. I also developed an intolerance to lactose and gluten due to the antibiotic killing all the intestinal flora.

I wouldn't recommend this pill to anyone.
