Pros:

-Heals existing acne
-Prevents future breakouts and infection of pimples
-Speeds up the healing process in whiteheads (they quickly become ready to pop [do so carefully] and heal very quickly after popping)
-Amount lasts a long time
-Cheap with some health coverage/health benefits

Cons:

-Tricky to figure out the right amount
-Takes a bit of practice for the first few days
-Can be VERY HARSH and cause burning, extreme redness, flaking and skin pain if you use too much!
-Does not exfoliate your skin or unclog pores. Try using a very gentle soap on a wet wash cloth, then apply benzaclin.

I can hardly believe it: My skin is clearing up!!!! I've had adult acne (dermatologist said it's hormonal) for several years now, moderate on my face with bad body acne and a few cystic ones. I've tried oral antibiotics, drug store products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide (washes, toners, astringents, scrubs, body washes, creams, gels, ointments!), Proactiv, tea tree oil, gentle soaps, and lemon juice. The Proactiv was the only thing that worked, but it stopped working after a few months and I couldn't manage my acne anymore. I went to a walk in clinic and asked for help managing my acne. I was prescribed an oral contraceptive used for acne, and benzaclin. The oral contraceptive hasn't kicked in yet. I've only been taking it for a week, and it takes about 3 months to start working on the acne, so I know for certain it's the benzaclin clearing my acne. I've been using benzaclin for a week. The first 3 days were horrible, because I used WAY too much of it and my face was burnt. I was so red and sore, it was like having a bad sunburn (or chemical burns on your face. Ouch. lol) I then read reviews on here, which helped a lot! I realized I have to use tiny amounts and take time to spread it over my face carefully and gently rub it in so that it absorbs. Do NOT slather this stuff on like I did. You shouldn't have any wet spots left on your face, or any white residue after applying it, otherwise it will burn your skin. Also, wait a while before applying moisturizer. I read on here that it doesn't work for body acne, but I started applying a little bit to my chest and shoulders, and it's healing the acne there too. So try it on your body acne and see if it works. Avoid using it on your neck. The skin is too sensitive there.

Pros:

Clears acne within the first few days...the pimples that were forming start going away..
Stops OILY skin!
smooth skin
i think it might be lightening my scars.
Removes scars(ill get to this later.)

Cons:

Dry skin! --read below to solve this problem

you must exfoliate like every 2-3 days after the first week....certain parts of your face will stop peeling as they get used to it..my chin and mouth area peel the most but not like full our all my skin is coming off..lol...i am able to control it with moisturizer and exfoliating carefully with a toothbrush. u must MUST wear sunscreen!!! before you leave the house...i do cross country and i spend A LOT of time outside so make sure if you cant to put sunscreen on before you leave for school/work idk what i paid for this stuff cause my mom bought it but i think it was lik 30$.cause of insurance and stuff... i use this twice a day morning and night...if you have less oily skin either put a thinner layer on or just at night... You will no longer have oily skin...yea you hear about oil decreasing products blah blah they never work! one sat. morning i didnt wash my face so it went back to normal oiliness and my mom said...your face is SO OIL(gee thxs mom! >:P ) but seriously ive tried proactiv, neutrogena etc...i even tried UT ...this cleared my skin and then kept it clear...since i started on benzaclin in one week ive had like 2-3 VERY SMALL! pimples and they were on my chin cause of the dead skin, but i think theyre just cycling out cause after week 1 i am CLEAR!!! and i used to have the underskin pimples AND whiteheads...this stuff like flattens the underskin ones soooo fast its rediculous...like OVER night if you spot treat it with this stuff! make sure to exfoliate and moisturize..and also DO NOT! use harsh products with this stuff...i use clean n clear wash then i was with SOME baking soda for no more than 30sec. then witch hazel and then benzaclin...im also a teenager...like smack dab in the middle of puberty so this hormonal acne was not fun and i just entered hs so im glad im clear now :D hope this helps all those who've lost hope...just ask your doc for a perscrip. and if you can tell one of your parents...for me its my mom, about gett

Pros:

keeps skin mostly acne free
easy to apply
once a day application
works for long periods of time
helps severe acne
helps really any types of acne
great for teenage use

Cons:

can leave face feeling tight
can actually burn your skin (i have it in the crease of my chin)
expensive (but effective)

I have really bad acne. I'm talking REALLY bad, especially for a 14 year old like me. Not the occasional pimple here and there. I'm talking all over my face, red bumps, white bumps, deep bumps, everything. My doctor couldn't find a thing that worked for me. She then made me try Duac, and I couldn't believe the difference it made! My skin is now mostly clear and I feel so more confident about myself. Although, there was this one time where I used too much, and my face completely tightened up. I couldn't move my face at all while I was at school! And I've also been burned by it. But for these small cons, this is such a great product!

Pros:

At the second to sixth week, where ever i applied it, it made me break out in a lot of cyst pimple and new acne, especially in places where i usually don't break out. I looked worse than before and i was angry. it took me seven weeks just right when i was going to give up on this topical antibiotic, within three days with this thought, I have only two active acne now. My face has cleared amazingly except that the red post acne marks & deep tiny zit.

Cons:

the first few weeks will make u break out more than ever and u may scar and have red marks.

it works and give it time. I should of used this a long time ago. i've been on it for two months now and it finally is clearing me up and i hope no more new break outs will occur so that my past red marks can heal and clear.

Pros:

Clears pimples quick ...great for spot treatment

Cons:

can make skin very dry

Alot of the people on this particular review have also been prescribed differin or tazorac to use in conjunction with duac. I feel like the people who are giving duac horrible reviews are the ones who are on differin or tazorac, which when first using, an initial horriblee breakout stage can happen and often does happen ...it happened to me. After continuous use of differin/tazorac and duac, the skin will slowly start to clear up and stay clear. Duac itself is an awesome product, but when used with differin/tazorac, many believe duac causes breakouts. It doesnt. The tazorac or differin does. =) keep using it the acne should get better

Pros:

Works fast, no fragrance, not very harsh on skin, GREAT RESULTS! STOP WASTING MONEY ON OTC soaps/cleansers/wipes/creams until you try this!!!

Cons:

A little pricey -- but you can get a $15 coupon from [link removed], and can use it every time you go to get your Rx filled!

I tried so many OTC soaps, creams, cleansers, wipes, etc. (even tea, alcohol, & apple cider vinegar!), but nothing cleared out the persistent pimples I kept having for the last 7 years. My acne was usually focal, only in certain areas. The pimples would stay for weeks before clearing out and have left (scar-like) marks that become extremely visible if my face got red a little (when you blush or exercise). About 4 years ago I ordered ProActive, only to watch how it made my face extra-sensitive, extremely dry, and w/ no progress! It seemed like my skin was very smooth but I didn't buy it for that! I bought it to clear up my pimples!!! Used it for months (year??) -- no help. Then I finally went to a dermatologist and she prescribed Duac. I was AMAZED within the first week! WONDERFUL results! I used it every day for a month or two, then started using it occasionally when I see some pimples coming back. I'm sold on it!! I'm 22 & finally feel confident about my f

Pros:

Works incredibly well. Can use it while pregant unlike Retina, Accutane, etc. No smell.

Cons:

No cons.

I have been using Duac for about 5-6 weeks now and it has cleared my skin up completely. I am in my thirties and my acne was scarring. I tried so many other treatments but none have worked as well as this. I use it at night only. During the day I use rosehip oil and some Vitamin E under my makeup. I let the oil sink in and then apply a mineral foundation called ID minerals which does not affect my acne at all. Moisturising like this means I have not experienced any dryness or flakiness with this gel. My scarring is taking a long time to fade so I'm now looking at various treatments reduce it...

Pros:

It's working for me. No smells, goes on smooth.

Cons:

Dries my skin out a little.

I've been using Duac for a little less than a month now. My dermatologist has had me on Differin for the past three and a half months. So I use the Differin at night and in the mornings, I put on the Duac. I have very sensitive skin. Sometimes my skin gets dry, but I just put oil-free moisturizer on. I'm not completely acne free, but I can definitely tell that it's getting better.
