Pros:

Cheap
Convenient
Effective
Gentle
Versatile

Cons:

If you're not careful, it can be harsh on the skin
Messy

I've been using this stuff for a good while now and have seen fantastic results! It has reduced pore size, evened out tone and helps speed up healing time if I have a breakout. I've seen numerous sources state that if you have acne-prone skin, it is recommended to exfoliate twice a week with this method, but personally I think that's a tad too much. Baking Soda's pretty potent; if not used with care, unpleasant results could occur. I use this once a week after my usual daily cleansing and my skin has improved more with it than it has in years. I only knocked off one little 'happy-dancing-egg-man' because as mentioned, it is potent and can be pretty harsh if you're not careful (speaking from experience). I say at the very LEAST give it a try, and make sure to start gradually.

Pros:

This is very inexpensive and easy to use. it is one of those things that almost every house has in it.

Cons:

It may burn the first couple of times, especially if you have an open wound on your skin.

Yes, use this. It works if you use is on a consistent basis. I mix it with honey to make a paste and apply it to my skin to make a mask, Leave it on for about 30 minutes, wash off with warm water and antibacterial soap, pat dry with towel and apply BPO gel/creme before going to sleep

Great spot treatment for oily skin!
I've heard a lot of love/hate for this, but let's calm down. Baking soda is really cheap, even if you get organic/natural. All I do is put some water on my finger, dip it in the box, and apply it to each wet pimple after washing my face. However, you have to be careful not to get the paste on the rest of your skin or it will dry it out. Leave it on for less than 5 minutes, and use a washcloth to wash it off with cold water. Apply a toner if your skin is too dry. I do this no more than once a day.

Totally Worth the Sting!

Pros:

Cheap
Really Works
Reduced swelling and cleared up face visably

Cons:

Stung really bad! (But worth It)

This product was Amazing! I didn't think much of it when I first came across it but thought that I would give it a go and it was awesome. I used 2tbsp of baking soda and mixed it with 2 tsps of water and made a paste and applied it in circular motions. Left it on for about 10 mins and rinsed with warm water. My face looks great! Reduced swelling, and cleared out pores.

Pros:

Its a natural way to get rid of acne, scars and redness, its very simple (mix water and baking soda until thick and apply) I put in on at night and wash with warm water in the morning. It gets rid of redness and the swell.

Cons:

It's very messy when dry, in dries the skin (but if you have a good moisturizer and apply right after you should be fine) and if you get some in your mouth while rinsing it tasts awful but it's harmless.

I will definetly be using it again ; every night and a mask at least two times a week. Its very cheap and again non-toxic. Good luck!

Pros:

-prevents breakouts
-brightens up skin
-cheap
-works

Cons:

-the time it takes to get the perfect constituency like a paste
-dried a bit of my skin

I have only tried this product for a week and I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin. I have more nocticed a difference in my actal skin rather then my ance. My pores overall seem to appear more minimized and my face has denfinitely been brighter and less dull. As for my ance it doesn't do a lot so far in this week ;I have also nocticed that I have no new breakouts this week even with having my period. Overall baking soda is a good product. By the way results may vary. I never wore makeup this week so that may affect this product.make sure you do the search and make sure to check on other ways using baking soda. Gotta love baking soda :) Warning/tip : the frist two times i did it it made my ance turn red but don't give it up. Try it a few times more then see. How I use it : -Put the baking soda in bowl and Add water into it - Make it into a paste like consistsncy (probably heard that like 100 times) -apply to face gently - i get it off after 5 minutes ( I take it off with both splashing warm water and paper towel) - dry with a paper towel or just a plain towel - i wait about 2 hours then i have a night shower with doing my regular skin care routine)

please advise what to do next .....
I had acne from 7-8 years mostly on my cheeks went to dermatologist many times, after 2 months medication acne reduces but after 5-6 months when i stop the medication it starts again. one day i read about baking soda and i started using it. Before going to bed i used to apply baking soda with water paste for 10-15 minutes and after that coconut oil to moisturize for almost one week. it gave me fairer skin and my acne spots were lighten now. i was very happy after one week i had to go for party so i used Ayur cucumber face pack for 10 minutes. next day morning i got 4-5 pimples on my cheeks and one big one between my eyebrows. red and white it was painful. after that i am not using any thing on my skin. i am afraid to use any thing on my face. i am confuse shall i use baking soda again or not. :(

You said that the baking soda was working but later in the week you used another product on your skin. Maybe that is the problem. Not the baking soda. My philosophy is the simpler the better. Oh yeah and plenty of water and little stress. Stress actually has a lot to do with our bodies' biological reactions. What we can detect on the outside is only an affirmation of a process that we would otherwise be completely unaware of internally. Hope this helped.

Pros:

Easy to make
Cheap
Effective

Cons:

Stings a little
Flaky when dried
Heavy on face

I've had acne for about a year now. It's not enjoyable. I blame my diet a lot because on the weekends I pig out with lots of caffeine and chocolate. On the week days I drink some water, and I don't actualy eat that much. I plan on improving that though. The thing is, I've been trying to gain weight because I'm as skinny as a twig. I guess my diet for that has been doing some part on my face as well. Anyway, I tried to use commercial cleansers like Clean and Clear, which didn't work. I tried Proactive but that gave me a facial rash. I guessed I was allergic and I haven't used it since. I tried going to the dermatologist but he prescribed me Oxy Clinical treatment. That sort of worked for a while but it dried out my skin. I didn't mind though, but I ran out and that's probably where my bad eating habits kicked in. So I tried a homemade face mask. I mixed together lemon juice, baking soda and baking powder. I slathered it on the infected areas and I left it on for a little while (I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly how long. Jut wait until it gets real dry and whenever you move, little flakes fall in front of your face). Then I washed it off with water and washed my whole face with just water. Once I dried my face, my pimples had lost redness and had maybe gone down in size. I used that mask for a while and then my pimples alltogether faded! It was pretty amazing and didn't cost a thing for me. It might for you if you have no baking power and soda and lemon juice on hand.

Pros:

- Helps with blackheads.
- Smooth skin.
- Makes the skin glow beautifully.
- Cheap and can last ages.
- Very easy to do.
- Makes my face smell like unbaked plain biscuits :)

Cons:

- Stings quite a bit for me.
- So far hasn't done anything for redness.
- Any bits not washed off feels grainy.

This is my first time using baking powder, so far it's exceptional. I made it into a paste; with a tea spoon of baking powder and a equal amount of water and stirred. Applied on my face like a mask and left for five minutes then washed off with warm water. It really helps with blackheads and I think in time it will weaken them so that they are easily removable. Doesn't do much for redness or cystics so far. It's also really evened out my complexion; I've always had uneven skin since a horrible sunburn when I went skiing. But this has really helped. So far my skin is soft, but I would still recommend using moisturisers (or in my case, Extra Virgin Olive Oil). Definitely worth a try.
