Hmm title?
I have a love-hate relationship with this stuff. On the one hand, it worked well to exfoliate my skin and left it feeling "smooth" and helped kill bad acne bacteria I'm sure. I wouldn't use it very often because even though it temporarily helps your skin, it still causes damage at the micro level. Meaning your outer skin layer, epidermis, has a system already in place to exfoliate, and an acid mantle to protect/disinfect your skin. Rubbing a very basic (ph 9~) solution of baking soda and water will totally throw of your skin's "natural order." So just be gentle if you wanna try this. I really don't recommend you scrub your face every day. Doing so can cause sebum production to go into overdrive/make hyperkeratosis (overproduction of keratin in the skin helping to clog pores in acne) worse -because your skin is attempting in it's own rudimentary ways to heal itself. TL;DR go easy on this scrub treatment, work on acne from the inside-out, be gentle with your skin :)

Be careful with Baking Soda
I would not recommend using baking soda on the skin because its just way too harsh for the skin. People use baking soda as a cleaning solution. When its used on the skin it can cause burning because the PH level is too imbalanced for our skin. A common misconception with baking soda that people have is that its natural however it is not. It is refined.

Pros:

Amazing! Shrinks Pimples right away. Saw a major difference in 4 days!
Cheap

Cons:

None!

Amazing. It dries out all pimples. I use it twice a day as a mask. If it works this well after 4 days can't wait to see what will happen in a month!

Pros:

-Great for oily skin and cystic acne
-Works fast
-Great exfoliate
-Cheap
-Leaves skin soft and smooth
-Lightens up dark marks
-Shrinks pores

Cons:

-Can make skin dry
-Burns a little bit
-Kinda messy

Ive been suffering with acne ever since I was 13, Im 18 now. Ive used everything including Pro-Activ (twice, broke me out more), Neutrogena Skin ID (stops working once you stop using it), Final Crush (broke me out more), and medication from the doctor (still broke out and made skin unbelievably dry). I even used home remedies like oatmeal, potatoes, and lemon juice (their good just takes alot longer to work). I have VERY oily sensitive skin and get cystic acne, mostly on my cheeks on jawline. Baking Soda is the ONLY thing that truly worked for me. I use it in the morning and at night after washing my face with Cetaphil, I mix it with water to make it into a paste and scrub my face gently for about 5 minutes then I wash it off. Afterwards my skin feels soft and smooth. It works really fast too, my bumps are gone in 1 to 2 days. Also it lightened up my dark marks from my previous acne. Note it can make your skin dry and burns a little bit while using it. Baking soda is amazing and a miracle. I definitely recommend giving baking soda a try if havnt yet and have tried everything else. Its awesome!

Great. <3
The only thing that bothers me is that sometimes it irritates my face, but I have to realize that I'm the one who's exfoliating too hard. But all in all, it actually helps me. I have literally about 20+ little tiny bumps all over my face and forehead. I use this about every night, and USUALLY I scrub very gently, and it does the job for me. It takes away those stupid, irritating little bumps.

Pros:

It's cheap and it works. What more do I have to say?

Cons:

None, though it can sting and irritate if you use it too much and more than once a day. I've warned you, so don't do it!

After I got this terrible stomach virus, my face broke out severely, especially on my forehead area. I had like 10 pimples on my head and 2 on each of my cheeks. It was so nasty! I was kind of annoyed because my sulfur mask wasn't working as it used to, and I had no money to buy acne products and cleansers and such. While looking for food in the kitchen, out of whim, I looked at my baking soda in the fridge and said: "Why not?" I'd tried it before, but it was too drying and harsh on my dry and sensitive skin. So to combat that, instead of adding water and making a mask, I added olive oil and turned it into a scrub! My word people, that did WONDERS! This is my regimen: Morning and night I wash my face with my Dove Beauty bar soap twice, then put the baking soda/olive oil mixture on may face and massage gently, exfoliating the dead skin cells. It's very moisturizing, which is good for for who has very dry skin. After I put the scrub I wash it off with lukewarm water and then with cold water to close my pores. Then I put on a LIGHT (water-based) moisturizer - I personally use Faerie Organic Dewy Glow Moisturizer, so I get the extra moisture, but not enough to break me out. (If you have oily skin, I'd suggest using a good toner and then add your favorite moisturizer after. Or you don't have to add moisturizer at all, since the olive oil will do it.) It's really helpful during this dry winter. Doing this has helped my face look brighter. And those pimples? After 3 nights of doing this they are either gone or so small, you can barely see them. I believe the the combination of the baking soda (which dried out the pimples) and the olive oil (which healed and brightened my skin) helped the most. Bottom line: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :)

Pros:

- It worked INSTANTLY
- Easy to make
- Cheap

Cons:

- VERY messy
- Flakes off really easily and falls off everywhere

I had this triangular, concentrated area full of cysts that were purple and I have tried everything from hydrocortisone to betadine, nothing works BETTER than this. In about 20 mins, the purple marks were noticeably paler. Since I just started, I don't know how long it would take to completely clear everything so will keep posting.

Pros:

Exfoliates, Smoothed skin

Cons:

Didn't work, messy

I mixed the baking soda with honey and applied it to my face for 45 minutes as I sat in the tub. It was a good thing I was in the tub because some dripped off as the baking soda started to work. In the end, it left my skin smooth, it was very relaxing and didn't hurt because of the honey, but it didn't tone down redness or clear my problem areas. I would recommend it for a weekly mask but not a solution to your acne problems.
