So, about 2 hours ago I decided I'd try this method to help clear up my face a bit. It wonderful! First, I got a small cup and lid and put some Baking soda in it, then a few drops of water, put the lid on, and shook it. I added more water and shook til it was a pastey consistency. I turned on my shower, and the steam opened up my pores. Then I put the mask on and left it there for 5 minutes. Then I got in the shower, and rinsed it off. It made my face FEEL better, even if I couldn't see the results. It felt cleaner right away. This really helps!

Pros:

Cheap
easy to use
available

Cons:

None so far

I haven't used this as a paste as others have. I take about 1/2 teaspoon and put it into a dixie cup and fill with warm water, so maybe 3 oz of water. Then I wash my face with Johnson's baby wash (yellow bottle). Then I rinse most of the soap off. Then I use the baking soda mixture as a rinse and rub it gently into my skin. Then I rinse competely with warm water. After patting dry, I put on a good layer of face lotion. I do this every evening. This has worked better than prescription Retin-A.

Pros:

Inexpensive
Easy to find in any grocery store
Simple

Cons:

N/A.
I have just tried it once today for the first time.

I am an African-American female who has had acne breakouts off and on since youth. I have tried many natural and store bought products. The expense of most was not worth it. The baking soda had an immediate effect of drying the cysts and noticeably softening and smoothing my skin. I am committed to using it consistently for the next few weeks to see the full effects of its use.

Pros:

Clears breakouts
Chemical free
Soothing

Cons:

Not a long term solution

I figured I had nothing to lose, so I would wash my face with baking soda at night before bed. It greatly improved my skin, however after a few weeks, it stopped having results. I still recommend it however, because it is cheap and gets results.

Pros:

-helped acne
-evened out the skin
-minimized pores
-helped back heads

Cons:

-a little redness
-drying
-need to use often to see results

i used baking soda everyday and saw incredible results! i wouldn't say that this got rid of my acne but i defiantly helped and made my skin smooth. It also minimized my pores. i would use this as a mask for 5-10 min, and sometimes take a toothbrush (not used obviously) and dip it into to paste and scrub on my acne because the bristles on the toothbrush helped exfoliate my skin and i think it worked better. it also make your skin e=very smooth and after i would apply a moisturizer.

Pros:

natural, cheap alternative to other products, clean, fresh-feeling, seems to have dried out zits, effective exfoliant

Cons:

strange looks from your roommate?

I started using baking soda as my daily cleanser about a week ago. Many of my zits have dried out, though I'm still unsure if it's just my own hormones or if it's actually working. My face seems brighter, and it's easier to put on my make-up, which is a plus! It leaves my face feeling fresh, and it's definitely the most effective exfoliant I've used (& I'm a St. Ives Apricot Scrub fan!). It's also super cheap and all natural,

Pros:

After one night saw scars and red marks fading.

Cons:

Stings a bit, leaves skin red afterwards. Has potential to wreck your face and make the ph of your face very basic.

I just go in the bath, mix with water to create a paste and leave on for around 10 mins then wash off. After i get out i just put some lotion on and go to bed. In the morning i was like wow! But im not going to do it too much cause i hear it can be really bad for you.
