Pros:

makes acne smaller
doesn't irritate my skin
my red marks are fading (they aren't all the way gone but are less red)

Cons:

when mask dries it flakes
drys skin (nothing a good moisturizer can't fix)
skin is a tad red but not as bad as before
It did dry out my lips but that's my error

I woke up this morning and when i saw my face I wanted to cry. I've used so many products (and I'm only 15). I have skin that tans pretty easily and when I started using Benzoyl religiously again (since I swore against it when I first used it) because it didn't seem to be making me super red, I now have HUGE red spots on my right cheek and chin. I saw all the reviews below and thought "hey, why not since I don't have to leave the house to get it" so I made a mask and left it on for about 45 minutes (until it started flaking everywhere) and I was pleasantly surprised to see smaller acne and fading red spots. I'm now going to try and stick with natural products because they seem to work the best. :)

Pros:

SKIN FEELS SO SOFT
Helps with acne

Cons:

Not sure it really works for blackheads which is what I wanted it to do

May sting a little (Be careful not to add too much and add a little more water to it for sensitive skin)

I used this a couple times and its been making my skin really soft. My acne has been going away and I'm sure It'll be gone if I use this more.

Pros:

Cheap, easy to use, fast results

I keep a small amount of baking soda in a dish in my bathroom (hope guests don't think it's something, ahem, stronger) and mix with a little bit of water to use as a scrub 2x a day. Other steps in my regimen: no commercial beauty products whatsoever. I wash my face with baking soda, tone with ACV, drink 1tbsp of ACV a day, and moisturize with pure coconut oil. Important to note: I also cut out nearly all dairy products about 4 months ago. (I'm of Asian descent and definitely lactose intolerant.) Results: No new major zits in over a month, for the first time in 2-3 years. When small zits happen, they dry up quickly and don't leave as much hyperpigmentation and scarring behind as I'm used to from before. My skin has more of a glow, and interestingly, my stomach feels better, too. I'm on my way to being clear, knock on wood, and will probably save over $150 dollars this year on commercial beauty products in the meantime. Conclusion: since I'm doing a combination of new things, it's hard to know exactly what effect the baking soda is having. But I intend to keep up with it, and really enjoy using it!

Pros:

Cleared up some bumps, lighter scaring.

Cons:

None really

I mix it with olive oil (instead of water) it doesn't dry out my skin. I use it every other night or so. It's pretty good No mirical or anything, but better than some store bought cleansers I've used in the past.

Pros:

Dramatically reduced acne in a few short days
Leaves skin soft and glowing

Cons:

Burns skin if left on too long/used too frequently
Detrimental to acid mantel

For the first five days I used a baking soda + water mask on my face, morning and night for three minutes. Then I'd take my Spectro Gel Cleanser and massage that over the mask for two minutes. After rinsing, my skin would be soft, glowing, redness in skin reduced, swelling in pimples reduced, and the large deep acne spots would be much less painful. After five days of this my forehead was clear for the first time in two years. :):) The rest of my skin was clearer by at least 50% as well, which is HUGE for me. I now only use it as a spot treatment every two days, and occasionally as a mask, since long term use of baking soda on your skin will damage the acid mantel because of it's extremely high PH value, which can reverse it's healing properties, and make your skin get worse again. Also, it is very powerful and can chemically burn your skin if it's left on too long. Everyone's skin is different, and you'll need to experiment to find out what you can handle. Watch your skin veryyyy carefully while wearing this mask to make sure it's not turning too red, which means it's getting burnt !

Pros:

- the only product I have ever used that quickly got rid of cystic acne
- smooth skin
- evened out my complexion
- prevented breakouts
- cheap

Cons:

- burns/temporary rashes the first couple uses (can be countered with aloe, very good for the skin)
- when it dries, the baking soda gets real flakey
- doesn't seem to counter hormonal acne...

My skin is extemely sensitive, oily (thanks, genetics), and stubborn against most treatments (Proactive, Clearasil, AcneFree, and Neutrogena made my condition WORSE!) . In my mid-20s, my extremely severe acne seemed to finally calm down, but I would still get occassional breakouts and horrible cystic acne on my cheekbones, towards my temples, and along my jawline that would remain on my face for months and when it finally started to heal, it would leave huge blue/purple scars under my skin...and I hadn't even poked or popped the infections! So my skin has a permanent light rash from bad products, blotchy from cysts, and scars from when I used to pick and from cysts I let heal. Anyway, the first time I used this, I mixed it into a paste and left it on for a half hour. Much to my horror, my skin burned, was really flushed when I rinsed it off, and so I had to put aloe on it. I would not have used it again had I not noticed one thing: the swelling on one of my cysts decreased a lot. After a couple more uses every other day (left it on my face for up to an hour), all my cystic acne was dried up and gone! I also started to notice that my complexion was becoming even-toned again and my face was incredibly smooth. Also, I felt I was getting less breakouts. Sadly, it doesn't seem to do much for my hormonal acne breakouts that I get as I approach that lovely time of the month.

Pros:

When used as an exfoliant mixed with some table sugar, I love it. It gets rid of all the dead skin that's clogging up pores, and is very effective with those little white bumps on my chin. It doesn't dry out my skin either.

Cons:

The first time I use it, my skin was a little red. NEVER use it as a mask, it hurts like heck. Also, since it has a pH of 8.3. It is a base and you may want to splash yourself with lemon juice or something acidic to keep your skin pH balanced.

I've had acne for four years, and I'm 14. I have it on my face and body, and I never knew exfoliant would help it, but this one does. I would recommend it. You don't have to go out an buy some fancy product because you probably already have some baking soda and water. You may as well try it.

Baking soda for my cystic acne
I rarely get normal zits and I occasionally get black heads. Most of what I get is large cystic acne caused by a hormone imbalance. I use proactive as well as keep my face clean but the cysts prevail! I make a paste of baking soda and water and put it all over my face because I read about it on several sites. I kept it on for about 20 min. It burned a little that's why I give it 4 stars. When I woke up in the morning my swelling from a few spots were reduced, and one that was emerging and becoming painfull retreated! I suggest trying a spot on your chin before you enduldge in a full mask so you don't burn yourself if you're sensitive.

Wonderful exfoliating product, but be VERY gentle!

Pros:

Great exfoliating product
Cheap

Cons:

Can be VERY irritating if you don't use it gently enough

Good product, clears flakes and dry skin. Just mix with your gentle cleanser and apply VERY gently to your face. Use feather like pressure, and use circle motions for about 30 seconds.
