Worked the first time.

Pros:

good for oily skin
2.5% BP repairing lotion
help reduce breakout initially

Cons:

a bit expensive
not fragrance free

I have an acne prone face and I've had acne problems ever since I can remember. Proactiv was the very first endorsed-and-slightly-expensive product line I bought to fight my acne problems and I remember how my breakout lessened in the first couple of month of usage (and I was not being discipline, mind you). My face was left with only one, at most two, pimples at a time. It worked great and I thought I would repurchase it again after I finish my first round of the regimen. Unfortunately, I had to move to a neighboring country where proactiv is not readily available at the stores. I guess I could always go for online purchasing but instead I went to a dermatologist. My face cleared up completely but not long after I had to move back to the other country, and so I went back to proactiv once again. Sadly to say it did not work as well as the first try (didn't reduce the breakouts) and I was really bummed. But this might have something to do with the fact that I had switched my regimen before going back to proactiv. Otherwise it worked well for me on my first try.

Don't waste your time and money, there are better products

Pros:

Lessened acne

Cons:

Feels harsh
Bleaches clothing and bedding
Did not completely clear acne

Up until age 18, I had clear skin. Once I moved from Hawaii to Arizona, my skin went downhill and I started using proactive. I hated the product, it feels very harsh and the third and last step bleaches anything it touches. It's just not a product you feel good about using. Unfortunately, it was the best product of the few I've tried. It did not clear my face completely, but it did keep my bad breakouts under control. I used it for 2 years then stopped when I moved back home to Hawaii. My breakouts are coming back and I am waiting on my acne.org order... A cousin of mine was using proactive regularly and when she stopped, she had a lot more acne than before using proactive. It's quite bad. I have the idea that proactive's formula causes your skin to become dependent on it so that the company makes more money. One last thing I want to mention, I truly believe that saltwater improves acne! I grew up in Maui, went to the beach often, and never had acne issues. Now, I live on Oahu and the beach is a rare treat for me (work, traffic, distance, and lack of parking limit my beach-going here.) Whenever I'm able to go to the beach for 2 or 3 days in a row, my face clears up dramatically!

Helped get rid of small bumps...

Pros:

Got rid of small bumps on forehead

Cons:

Harsh on Skin
Expensive

This was the first ever acne treatment that I had tried, I will be honest and say the commercials did get to me and I was so happy that I was finally able to convince my parents to buy it for me. While I don't really recall it making it any worse it sure as heck was not getting me to the desired results I so desperately wanted after so many months of consistent use. However, i did find that it helped the tiny bumps that i would get on my forehead but nothing drastic changed. Total Waste of Money!

Why, oh why?

Pros:

Easy to do regimen

Cons:

Stopped working
Waste of $$
Horrible customer service

Okay, let's go back to a time when I didn't have acne. It was 2010 and I had to spend a year in Utah. The air in Utah is very dry and the climate change kind of wreaked havoc on my skin. I didn't have acne, but I was experiencing my first "breakouts". Obviously, I panicked and begged my parents to send me some sort of acne products. Of course they send the almighty PROACTIV SOLUTION!! Guaranteed to work or your money back. HA, yeah right. First of all, they send you lots of cleanser and toner, but barely any moisturizer. Last time I checked, applying moisturizer sparingly will not help with the dry Utah air. Anyways, I used this "solution" for a few months and I suppose it helped make the pimples go away. I wasn't strict with the regimen, but it seemed to get the job done. Let's fast forward to January 2011... Why are the pimples coming back? I'm still using Proactiv and they're freaking coming back! I want my money back! Never happened. I made multiple calls, spoke to various people, and I never saw a penny of my money back. Also, it took months for them to stop sending me my auto-shippments and to stop charging my credit card. Horrible company, horrible products. Enough said.

why is this still on the market?

Pros:

Sulfur mask

Cons:

Burns
Drying
Costs a lot

I have had bad acne for a while. The first time I tried this it felt okay. I thought my skin was getting better. Then within 2 weeks, it got so bad. The cleanser is so harsh, the toner feels like it's stripping the good oils from my face, and the lotion feels weird. The only good thing was the sulfur mask. Loved that. The second time I tried it, my skin got burned so bad. Ugh. Stupid mistake. The people in the Proactiv commercials only have like 3 pimples. Poor advertising. This product is not worth it.

Proactive cleanser sucks

Pros:

Cons:

The cleanser drys skin

Proactive is not that good I have dry / combination skin and the cleanser is to harsh and can dry out some of your skin but the toner and moisterizer works well .

Eh
I had some mild skin congestion going on on my forehead in sixth grade. I used this for three months and I was cleared up. It left my with some pretty bad discoloration though, probably cause I never moisturized (no one told me this stuff lol) I thought I would just stop using it since I was clear, but I broke out worse than before. I tried using it again, but it didn't work. Skin = immune to it.

Wouldn't Recommend

Cons:

burned my skin
very pricey

One of my old best friends has very severe acne and was using this system by Proactiv so i decided i would give it a go. i stated using it but found no difference in my skin. it didnt clear my acne, and it didnt make it worse. it kind of burned by skin. the only reason i give it 2 stars is because it did make my friend's acne a little bit better.

Pros:

will clear skin

Cons:

expensive
cannot stop using or WILL break out
harsh chemicals

I used proactive on and off when I was in high school and college, and no doubt it will clear your skin. But my god if you ever stop using it.............One week I decided to give my skin a break from all the harsh chemicals and also the three step system can get a little tiring. 2 to 3 weeks later I had one of the worst break outs ever.
