I've never really had severe acne but i started using this product and within a few days my acne had become severely worse. they claim that their is a purging period of one month, but after 3 months of using it acne was still worse. switched to a different product and it cleared up within a week. This product does not work.

Pros:

Smelled good

Cons:

Moderately severe acne became raging acne! My entire forehead, which had a few zits, was covered with zits days into the treatment. I quit after a week. Am going back to proactiv.

Purging period? No thanks! Want my money back!

Pros:

None at all.

Cons:

Burns
Dries you out BADLY
Gives more acne in odd places

I went to the mall and the lady recommended this to me since I am at the age of acne.(Thirteen) I only got the wash. Biggest mistake of my life!!! The first time I used it it burned my face to the point it had a rash. I showed my mom and didn't use it again. Until two days ago. I refused to go to school, it was that bad. I even got a weird bump on my lip line!!!! Now I am dried out and look really bad. All in all, if you my age and have sensitive skin, do NOT make this mistake.

Pros:

cleanser smells and feels nice

Cons:

everything else. PURGING PERIOD IN WHICH YOU BREAK OUT FOR WEEKS. I hate this and wish no one to ever buy this. I would hate for anyone to experience what I went through.

Let me start by saying, this is my first review, ever. But I feel so strongly about this product that I felt I must write something. Here is what I'm going to write, RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY AND DON'T LOOK BACK. A little background on me: 19 yrs old. College sophomore. Tried Murad acne complex kit during my winter break. I wanted to heal my moderate jaw line and forehead acne before my spring semester began. First, the ONLY good part. The cleanser had a very pleasant scent (refreshing, left skin smooth). However, most cleansers do the exact same thing, so after using the product for a while. I realized the cleanser was THE ONLY part of this kit that was pleasant. Now, bottom line. This kit is HORRIBLE. PURGING PERIOD. Oh my goodness. The lady who sold this to me made me aware that there "may" be a "slight purging period" in which the underlying acne will surface before the healing begins...well...she was right. HOWEVER, the "underlying acne" surfaced, and never left. I used Murad twice daily for roughly a month, AND MY ACNE GOT WORSE. It was embarrassing, upsetting, discouraging. My jawline acne turned to being ENTIRE RIGHT CHEEK acne. My mild forehead breakouts turned to acne near my side burns and hair line. I tried to stick with it with hopes that it would start healing as it should, but nope, just kept worsening. I've been off of murad for 3 weeks now, and now my face is beginning to SLIGHTLY heal. FINALLY. Ugh. I regret NOT reading the reviews before purchasing because apparently MANY people had my horrific experience. I WOULDN'T RISK IT. There are other options people. This MAY work for you, but its not a risk I'd take. (I'm using GNC beBeautiful hair skin nails vitamins now since i never had "bad" acne to begin with, but MURAD gave me bad acne). Hope this helps.

Pros:

- It works for like what, a week?

Cons:

-Dries skin out
-Didn't cure acne
-Made it worse, for months

Alright, so yes I gave it a few months to fix my skin but all it did was make it worse. I'm just so unhappy with the whole system. The toner does nothing, the wash does nothing, the lotion doesn't hydrate. WAH. The only bonus in this kit is the spot treatment, but that is hardly anything.

Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

Smells Horrible
Doesn't Work
Gives you painful acne
Leaves Scars
Burns your sk

I've struggled with acne most of my life, after being on accutane when I was around 16 it cleared my skin for the most part but I still have the odd breakout and always seem to have at least 5 pimples on my face at any given time...after trying endless over the counter and prescription medications to try and clear my skin I thought I would give murad a try to see if I would experience any positive results from it. After using it exatcly how the directions say, 4 weeks later I have more acne then what I started with. The new pimples that I have are in spots I have never gotten them before (lip lines, forehead, under the nose). It also turned the existing pimples I had into these huge, red and extremely painful lumps. One of them has cleared up a bit and I can tell it is going to leave one heck of a scar...I do not understand the whole "purging" process but I do not think that it should last over a month - if I were to experinece any positive results from this product I would have seen them by now. Overall, I am very disappointed - I am hoping that my skin will recover from what this product has done to it.

Pros:

Free Shipping

Cons:

Made my near clear skin horrible.
Strong medicinal smell

If you have gotten clear with BP and want to try a BP free solution, please don't use this! After a rough spring with my skin I used Acne Free Severe kit for 3 months and was clear about 6 weeks into it (I have used BP on and off for 15 years with usual success). I was pretty clear but it was enhancing the fine lines on my 32 y.o. skin, so I thought I would give Murad complex a try for a long term maintenance solution, you know...no more stained clothes, Dermatologist created, high-end premium skincare products etc.... WAAAAAAAH!!!! What a mistake. Caused over 70 hard whiteheads (that have since erupted into full blown papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts) along my jaw line, just using it for 3.5 weeks. When I talked to their customer service to return it they questioned why I wasn't sticking with it for the full 4 weeks because she guaranteed if I kept using it I would be clear if I did...yeah ok in 4 days your product is going to clear 70 hard whiteheads and 10-15 full eruptions!!! I currently have over 15 active eruptions on each side of my jaw now, so alas.... Back to BP but the damage was done it's been over 5 weeks and my skin is still fighting to bounce back from the worst breakout I have had in years. Try to go BP free if you want but don't do it with Murad; PLEASE!

Pros:

....Smells okay?

Cons:

Everything.
-left a scar
-turned a really bad pimple into a gaping hole/scab
-it turned my moderate acne into severe
-irritated me
-dried me out
-itched
-burned

I used this a few years back, and this has probably been the worst thing I've used. It turned one of my pimples into a gaping hole, it was expensive, it didn't work, and not to mention it hurt my face a lot. I really thought murad was going to work, but it really didn't at all. Terrible. Please go spend your money on something else, not this. Just for the record, I have sensitive, combination, acne prone skin, and my acne is light-moderate.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Made face feel even more oily. Caused my skin to brake out worst, with tiny little blisters!

I have very oily and dry skin, is a combination and I was told this would clear my skin in two weeks, but the first two weeks it would brake out even more "supposiably" getting all ur pores cleaned out.... Well it never cleared my skin it caused me to have little bitty blisters pop up everywhere underneath my nose and my chin... It's awful!!!!! Taking it back and getting a full refund!!!
