Pros:

Smells Good
Cleared Chin Area
Easy to use

Cons:

Very costly and not worth it
Glycolic Acid (second step) burns
Purging is horrable
Claim of clear skin in four weeks is not true

Murad Acne Complex has a very convincing TV commercial and products that claim that 92% of users have reduction in acne in 3 days and clear skin in 4 weeks. First the kit itself is very expensive and does not tell you all of the instructions listed. The exfoliating gel is very strong and should only be used once a day for two weeks. EVEN with that it still burns and irratates skin (which it claims its not supposed to) I found that the kit only made my acne worse and the purging is not very pleasent to go through. The Salicilic acid tingles and feels ok but the bottom line is that this is a waste of time and money and you should NOT invest in this product.

Pros:

Seemed to clear my forehead
Smelled nice
All natural

Cons:

Made my jawline and chin breakout when it never had before
Tons of little black/whiteheads on my chest
Inflamed my boyfriend's acne, too.
Exfoliating gel burns HORRIBLY

When I started using it, I read everything they sent me; pamphlets, everything. I followed the routine carefully, right down to exact measurements. It said that during the "purging" stage, my acne would flare up. They were right. I have horrible break outs all along my jawline now, which used to be crystal clear. Also around my mouth. After it all ran out (which was in less than four weeks, and they didn't send another for two months), i went back to the clean and clear kit. My jaw is still covered in blackheads, but the clean and clear dramatically cleared my chest, forehead and T-zone. Bottom line; don't waste the 70 some dollars on this. Buy the clean and clear kit; it's only 17 dollars.

Pros:

attractive price
exfoliating tingles so it appears to work

Cons:

eyes got swollen
skin became red and irritated
increase in breakouts on jawline and neck
moisturizer smells bad and doesn't hydrate

My face was getting much better with PCP's prescription of : Tretinoin. I was getting compliments about my face clearing up. But then I saw the tv advertisement on Murad making the skin look shiny, with the whole kit which i use Cellex-C brands (very expensive but works fabulous). I was tempted to buy something more affordable that has great results. Was I wrong. Even though I kept all the products away from my eyes, the first night i work up in fear that my eyelids were swollen. you can just feel it. I thought i would just keep using it because my skin had to get use to it - well my colleagues noticed my face and eyes swollen and I started to get new pimples/scars below my jawline. NO WAY! I I have decided to stop using it and return it asap!!! I am taking two days off - and then returning to my prescribed medication (tretinoin) and expensive Cellex-C (cleanser, toner, moisturizer) that actually works - no matter the price!!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Sore, dry skin.
Extreme flaking.
Taught pink skin.
Swollen face.

I used this product as I hadn't read any reviews (I really wish I had). After just one days use my face had swollen up, I could barely see out of my eyes and I looked as if I had been beaten by a professional boxer. I was put on medication by my doctor that left my house bound for three days. My skin is still hyper-sensitive and peeling after 10 days. Not a pleasant experience.

Cons:

Cleared my skin for the first 2 weeks I used it, but then after a month it made my skin much much worse than it was before.

After a month of using this product, it made my skin worse than it has ever been. I thought I should keep going with it, to see if it would eventually clear my skin up in the long run but my face just kept getting worse. I got zits in new places where I never had them before, and my chin broke out worse than ever. I'm still working on getting my skin back to normal.

Pros:

Good value.

Cons:

Makes you BREAK OUT.
Does not clear skin.
Drying.

Don't try this product. I ignored the bad reviews because, of course, I was desperate, and I thought, how could this be so popular if it didn't work for some people? I bought the started kit and used the program faithfully. I could only last three weeks. It made me break out VERY badly. Amazing-- because I was already breaking out pretty badly before. Normally I have more cystic acne, but this made the cysts worse and gave me "normal" acne all over my face. It does not even make sense that this would be a "purge" because the cleanser I have been using for the past few years is also salicylic-acid based. I think breakouts might come from the treatment gel which has glycolic acid. Glycolic acid can "spread" breakouts. I recommend saving your face four weeks of misery. Even the other products are totally worthless-- the moisturizer feels dry. The spot treatment is crap.

Pros:

*Great moisturizer
*feels good
*doesn't bleach clothing and pillowcases.

Cons:

*Brought me from mild acne with occasional cysts (maybe a few a month) to moderately severe acne all over my chin and jawline.
*Lots of scarring.
*Tons of clogged pores/whiteheads that turned into cysts!
*Doesn't clear acne.
*EXPENSIVE.
*They seem to have only refunded 1 of my orders instead of 2 (I'm still looking into this matter though)

This kit is expensive and ruined my skin. Thanks Dr. Murad! This seemed great for a few days, I guess until the bacteria in my skin started multiplying. Dan's right, you really need the BP to keep skin clear, (even if it does bleach everything!) I started getting more and more cysts that just wouldn't clear. I used the mask and everything else in the kit.. I read in their catologue that buying the poor refining cleanser and the mask would give me a boost (another $60), but I just kept getting worse! Honestly, I have never really looked like I had acne, (easily hidden with makeup, 1 cyst might show) now I look awful! I have well over thirty new scars. My confidence seriously plummeted. I stayed with it for over a month, because they said the initial breakout would subside, but it just never did :( I went to the derm. to get some stronger meds to recover, but the antibiotics made me sick, and the topical were ineffective and really irritating. So I have reluctantly come crawling back to Proactiv. I never should have quit. It never made my skin flawless, but it was certainly better than it is now! I've been using it for a few weeks now. All the small bumps are gone from my forehead! Nose, cheeks, and chin are clear too! YAY! Just waiting for my jawline to clear up. It actually looks better too. I'm hoping some Alpha Hydrox will help. I can already tell some of the marks are fading and the cysts have reduced to normal sized pimples. If you are already using BP on your skin, I would not quit and try this product. If you only use salicylic acid, you would probably be fine. Be careful with your skin! I quit using the kit in May and now its July and I'm still trying to reverse the damage.

Pros:

Cons:

Irritated my skin
broke out with a rash
Worst pimples ever

It was good for the first week. It made my skin break out so bad that I am embarrassed to show my face in public. I used it for 3 weeks and it gave me the worst acne I have ever had in my life. I sent it back a week ago and my face is still a mess. If you buy this you will just get pimples in a bottle. Worst product ever!
