Price for Subcision? 25m

I recently had a consultation with a cosmetic dermatologist in Tampa, Florida. For a full face subcision (temples, cheeks, jawline on both sides), he quoted me $2,000. I already know this is on the high side but I am getting frustrated trying to find reputable doctors that are experienced in subcision. I am tempted just to pay the 2k. My acne scars are old and tethered and I know subicision is my first step before anything else.

What doctor is this? Ive been hard pressed to find any doctor that will do subcision on the jawline. Is this cannula or taylor liberator subcision? I assume cannula given the areas being treated are dangerous given the nerves and arteries. If its taylor liberator Id actually say thats on the cheaper end but for cannula Id say its a little pricey. I cant think of any provider off the top of my head that is experienced in subcision in tampa florida. Dr. Sadove is a few hours north of you in Gainesville. Him and Steven Weiner are probably the 2 most experienced acne scar revisionists in Florida I can think of. Although Sadove will try and push subcision with fat grafting which he charges close to $10k per procedure. Unfortunately acne scar specialists who do good honest work at a good price are few and far between. Most people here recommend flying out to Dr. Rullan in Chula Vista, California for subcision it seems. I even consulted with Dr. Mark Taylor in Utah for subcision along my jawline and he turned me down. Ultimately Ive come to realize acne scar revision is a big money pit with not a lot of promising results, so if youre wanting any noticeable improvement youre going to have to stomach the cost at some point. Im flying out to new york in July and spending $7500 on excisions not including the money for plane tickets and hotel. I spent a ton of time trying to find a provider near me that would solve my problem at a low rate, but ultimately very few providers are skilled in acne scar revision and youll likely have to travel if you want promising results. Please keep updating us with your decisions!

Thanks for the reply.

It is Dr. Milan Lombardi in Tampa, Florida. He has videos on his Instagram performing subcision which is what made me get a $200 consultation in the first place. I did not ask him what needle it would be. He seemed pretty confident he could get a 50% reduction in scarring alone with just subcision but also recommended two vials of bellafil. Honestly, he was very nice and addressed all of my questions. He didn't push a treatment plan or lasers. I was miffed at the $2,000 price point for subcision alone but it is my whole face excluding forehead.

He DID mention that the risks of subcision were nerve damage (he told me I could essentially go blind or lose the ability to smile if one of those nerves are damaged) which made me very nervous. I have rolling scars all across my jawline. I have seen doctors commenting on RealSelf saying that they do indeed do subcision on the jawline and temples regularly.

Ok so I looked him up and he seems to be a pretty young doctor with little experience so I do somewhat question the $2000 price point. I usually see subcision quoted around $500-1000 on here with taylor liberator up to $2500-$3000. If he didnt mention taylor liberator anywhere then thats probably not it and looking at his instagram hes only using cannula and nokor. Maybe he included the bellafill in the cost? Bellafill is pretty risky too I think most people on the forum recommend against using a permanent filler like bellafill as it usually causes lumps and other long term problems and its extremely hard to have removed. Id ask what his thoughts are on using sculptra over bellafill if you see him again. Also take the 50% improvement rate with a grain of salt, not saying its impossible, but theres no guarantees with this stuff and every doctor likes to inflate their results. Is he at least letting you use the $200 consultation fee in paying for the procedure? Given my experience, you could end up spending a bunch of consultation fees seeing a bunch of other doctors who may not charge that much for subcision, but make you include lasers/rf treatments afterwards that, in my opinion, do absolutely nothing for rolling scars. If youre willing to spend $35 then maybe hit up myacnescars.com and he can give you some recommendation, or if anyone else here happens to have any.

I believe he's actually older than he looks. "Dr. Milan M. Lombardi is a dermatologist in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine and has been in practice between 11-20 years." Also, yes, they did include the consultation fee in the procedure fee but no, the $2,000 does not include bellafil. I was initially turned off by bellafil as well but did actual research to see that it is the only FDA approved filler for acne scars, is only 10 percent permanent, and the side effects are very rare and treatable. They did a patch test on my arm to make sure I wasn't allergic.

Price doesn't seem too bad considering the area. Acne scars are really hard to treat because it's a lot of scars and it's hard to know how you'll heal from it. Make sure your doctor has experience and produces decent results.

Personally I've had great results with 1 subcision with filler, RHA, Resilient Hyaluronic Acid filler. After the filler the rolling scars were like 80% gone. The fillers eventually reabsorbed and went away after 6-9 months and the scars went from 80% to like 50% gone. Doing two of these one year apart would give great results, although it's pricey.

Belafill is permanent and comes with risks. Also fillers can migrate, they won't stay exactly where they're injected if you put pressure or sleep it on.

Cannula subcision is pretty save in the jawline area. It's blunt, so it won't cut large nerves and blood vessels. It's made to puncture holes in the fibrotic scar tissue underneath the skin. Taylor liberator is pure destruction; it breaks everything: blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and even retaining ligaments...
