Well I guess I just want to say that almost 99% of people on the internet just writes non sense theorys about microneedling based on absolutely nothing and swear by some really wild approaches like the needle depth, there is always one or more people saying that 1 mm doesnt helps for acne scars, that derma rollers are bad and so on. There is so much information backed by physiology of the skin, studies and actual science that literally goes against the general consensus of people on the internet. If you really want to improve your skin in the safest way, theres no doubt microneedling is the best solution, it improves the skin in any way possible and the results are amazing even if done at home. You can get great results from doing it with 0.2-0.5 mm and you can do it much more often than once a month and even recommended to do by the experts. If you really want to improve your skin you should read Dermal Needling by Dr. Lance Setterfield, empower yourself with true knowledge and not all the nonsense and pseudo experts on the internet that with all due respect couldnt be more wrong on anything about skin needling. If you have severe severe acne scars then it might not be enough but you still could benefit from thickening the epidermis that it is proved that skin needling can achieve, if your acne scars are shallow then youll be amazed with the results. Please do it the safest way to do and read read a lot to prepare yourself perfectly.
Just using one example, it is proven that even if you use 3 mm needles that IS VERY BAD FOR YOUR SKIN, but even if you do it, theres no scientific evidence that would get better results for you as if you were using 0.5-1 mm needles because the data shows that only 0.6 mm of skin is really improved with any depth needle. The data also shows that if you are dedicated and use dermal needling for years, the epidermis could thicken 6-7 times. Also experts have very clear that your post regimen it is very important because it can enhance the benefits by so much but you need to keep it simple and effective like using High Molecular HA serums instead of Low Molecular HA, not using actives, focusing on HMW HA, ceramides and niacinamide. I could go on forever but please read your information from books and scientific studies backed with real data and not just what you see on forums, YouTube videos, advices from strangers and even your own dermatologist could be lost in terms of dermal needling or just trying to sell you another expensive treatment because if you knew of the potential and benefits of microneedling at home with a safe approach you would never return.
I mean I want to believe this, and I almost tried it, but even Lim says it's entry level and is usually geared for shallow scars. You make some great points about long needle depth is probably unnecessary, and I've seen improvement stories. Depends on the scar and the technique must not drag. It's definitely something to consider for more shallow or unresponsible scars perhaps.
