Very cool. Just to get a better idea of things, how deep and how wide was the ice pick before, and how deep/wide is it now? What was done to that scar --- just PRP?

thanks!

Hi FT,

No your situation is by no means hopeless. It's just that it is very important to get your inflammation under control. When I say that I don't mean you should be taking corticosteroids and/or NSAIDS, etc... In fact I absolutely detest these drugs unless they are the last resort in an acute flare-up of a chronic condition such as Terminal Ileitis (Crohn's). BTW, is your Crohn's mostly localized to your Terminal Ileum? Is it mild, moderate or severe?

When the GI tract is not functioning well, many important processes in the body start to function in a less than ideal fashion. As they say, all sickness starts with gut! Your skin will show it... Anyway, I am obviously not as capable as a gastroenterologist in being able to fashion a treatment plan for you, but I can simply say that the gastrointestinal mucosa functions a lot like our dermis in many respects. As such similar treatment methodoligies can be applied to one or the other.

One of my former research projects involved "Inflammation Suppression in the Salamander Blastema" which had everything to do with determining ways of duplicating this inflammatory suppression in the human dermis (and as a curiosity in other parts of the body). One of the findings showed that the localized dermal effect was also expressed systemically, which could very well benefit you. I think I may be able to give you novel advice which could provide you with some relief. I can write you a PM since I am certain this is a very personal matter for you that is best not discussed in a public venue. Just give me a few days and you'll have the said message in your inbox. I am simply replying to people in the given order that their messages have come in.

BRD, I was hoping to send you additional information on my condition but your PM box is still full. I hope you will revisit the site soon! Cheers

-I suggest you don't inject yourself because there are some risks involved. Are there no doctors where you live that do PRP? Either way, use 30 gauge needles to inject. These are very fine and will not cause any permament damage to your skin.

Hello, BRD

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, so far the only countries I know where PRP injection is available are South Africa, England, France, Japan and maybe Bulgaria (or wherever you are.... 😉 ) I have not been able to find PRP injection offered locally (I am in Vancouver, Canada), or local doctors willing to do Autologous blood injection for me 🙁 I have had to postponed my originally schedule needling session tomorrow, in hope to find availability of PRP injection near me, so I can do them on the same day for them to work in synergy.

If anyone here know of any doctor offering PRP injection in North America (or any other places not mentioned here), please post info here -- greatly appreciated!

From my research, it seems there are various devices and methods that can be used to generate PRP for injection. Not all of them produce equally high-quality PRP with a history of predictable efficacy and measured outcomes. So this is a point of consideration for all considering PRP injection treatment.

BRD, if you have any evaluation criteria or tips to offer on what methods of PRP generation are safe, reliable and yield the appropriate level/quality of platelets and platelet derived growth factors, please share them with us. So those considering PRP injection can use them as a search criteria to make sure we will be getting high-quality treatments.

Also, I assume since PRP generation is best done on site, immediately after extraction of blood and re-injected to the patient, then, courier the extracted blood/generated PRP to far-away destination, in special tubes/device designed for bio-preservation, would not be feasible AND not likely allowed across international borders?

I know this is a far-shot idea, but I am just pushing the limits to brain storm possibilities, so I had to ask.

BTW, BRD, I have been trying to send you a PM in reply to one of your earlier post. But your inbox has been consistently full... that I almost feel guilty in trying to add more to it. But I really would like to see you in again soon, so despite my guilt, I will patiently wait until the time when I can manage to squeeze it into your inbox.

Hey 2012,

I've been away for a while but here I am to answer everyone's questions.

With regard to PRP/blood injections, I do them my own way and thus don't utilize any of the available kits.

1) I simply take blood (40cc - 60cc) and centrifuge for 12 minutes at 3000 rpm. I then extract the platelet rich plasma layer and add a minute quantity of Thymosin 4. Then I simply get going with the injection procedure.

I have also begun adding sequentially Fetuin-A, TGF-3 and Laminin-511 to the processed PRP. For the last three months I have added all four of the above proteins to my final version of what could be called an upgraded form of platelet rich plasma. Each of the proteins is present in the PRP at elevated levels relative to what would normally be found in adult human tissue. In case anyone is wondering, I have taken my dosing cues from the foetal scarless healing studies/models.

2) I have also used whole blood (not altered in any way) in the Bastille method of acne scar repair, whereby I use blood as chromophore for IPL at very low settings.

As to your other question, I don't think it would be wise trying to transport cryo-preserved PRP over large distances. I am also certain that trans border issues would be more than problematic.

All the best...

PS: I'll send you a PM tomorrow.

my icepicks were deep...they reached well into the mid dermis..and had a massive amount of erythema which of course compounded

BRD quick question.

so far so good with my prp injections..some nice results..for my 2nd and last treatment session would this be a good idea?

1: microneedle scar area

2: followed by PRP and Stem cells from fat.

3: then low level IPL

this is just my concept...what do you think?

Keep us updated please, Icaretohelp. Glad you are seeing results.

I think in six months times, with different procedures you had, will give us a better idea of the improvements.

he said i should see some results at 2 weeks..20% plus better skin tone..im guessing around 30-40% ( and taking into account its such a simple procedure thats aweseom!_ with stem cells id imagine it would be around 70% alotho in my case i probably wont have any scars left..id like to point out my scars have from day one (b4 prp) improved by 75% PLUS...more probably..

evryones different..u cant just base it on me..you need to either find out for yourself or dont:) i think its proven very worthwhile

I agreed if you only get 20 % improvement it's really good because is just an injection. some people do lasers only report 20%- 30% improvement, and have more downtime and risk hypermentation if you are not caucasian.

Since i burnt my skin, i'm really sensitive to the sun especially during mid-day. I can't wait to try this but need to control my dermatitis.

Icaretohelp i hope your skin worries end soon, because it is really a nightmare trying to improve ones skin.

It was in the news lately that a stem cell patient who was treated with stem cells injections to a specific area of that persons spine and brain has now developed tumours there. Experts say that it was very very likely to have been caused by the stem cells. The patient was injected a few years back and the tumours appeared in the last few months. Scary??

This was in the newspapers about a week back.

in the article it says

"Results: Reasonable short-term correction has been attained in all five cases and there seemed to be a progressive improvement with each injection session"

in my opinion the results dont really sound that good.

Found the article online , it think its the same one your talkin bout.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/...90217212253.htm

the procedure used embryonic stem cells. not stem cells from the patients own fat.

"A case report published in PLoS Medicine, describes a rare side effect of human fetal stem cell therapy. Ninette Amariglio and Gideon Rechavi from the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv, Israel, and colleagues report the case of a boy with a rare genetic disease, Ataxia Telangiectasia, who underwent human fetal stem cell therapy at an unrelated clinic in Moscow and who, four years after the therapy began, was shown to have abnormal growths in his brain and spinal cord"

The reason the patient got tumours is because allogenic (not the patient's own) stem cells were use in the procedure that were originally taken from an embryo. In essence, these stem cells are foreign to the patient's body, which can cause an immunological reaction and indeed a long-term histologic incompatibility that results in various problems. This however does not happen when one's own stem cells are used because they are not perceived as a foreign body by the immune system.

Please look more carefully at what has been written in this thread, because I've clearly stated numerous times that the procedure I am discussing herein has to do with autologous (patient's own) adipose derived adult mesenchymal stem cells.

I think Dr. Goodman's results do sound good as he noted progressive improvement with each session. Anyway, I believe he is talking about the use of the whole blood (not altered in anyway like PRP) for the Bastille method.

I believe you should only do what Dr. Khan is advising. He is after all responsible for the results of your procedure and he, like all other doctors, has his specific way of doing things.

Keep things simple and don't over do it. Don't get any IPL after you stem cells have been injected because this could damage them. Low level IPL after a whole blood injection is very different from what you are proposing. I also suggest you don't do microneedling at the moment.

If you are getting a stem cell treatment, let the MSCs do their job...
