Effervescent aspirin's are really big so I would only add one and make sure it is simply just aspirin and doesn't ahve anything else like antihistamine or something for runny noses etc.
As far as green tea goes I would make a small batch enough to last a week and thats it. Bc you don't want the ACV + GT mixture to be left out for weeks. Also I would keep it in the fridge if you do ass Green Tea bc I know that is what everyone does when they make a big batch of tea, that way it won't go bad.
I believe a cotton pad is much more effective bc the ACV will soak into your skin better. Using a spray bottle you will just bad big water droplets on your face that won't absorb. Although if you plan opn using this for your back and shoulder a spray bottle is much better bc reaching to put a soaked cotton pad on your entire back is very difficult.
I already tried getting this topic posted, but the moderators won't and say it isn't fair, even tho I see pointless threads posted all the time.
Good Luck everyone!
wow this is awsome I actually found a product that is an astringent made from ACV and Lavendar .. it is expensive and if I were I would just make it myself with ACV and Lavendar oil .. but this just totally confirms the fact that ACV really works. Too bad I didn't find this website before when I wa sbeing bombarded with posts about why ACV isn't mentioned in PubMed .. well maybe one day ACV will be looked into even more and ACV will be put into aot more products.
Hey SP, I was just wondering do you think using AVC once a week would work? My skin is SUPER sensitive... and very oily (never used to be... after I used benzyl peroxid on my face for 7 months my skin got very weak) and I want someting to start fading my red marks my face is COVERED in them... but I still break out.... will this be okay?
I really don't think once a week is enough, it usually takes people a week more more to start seeing results so if you only used it once a week you would not see any results bc your skin won't get use to it if you use it once a week and this will cause you to break out. Just like any remedy for redmarks you need to have a continous regimen bc if you don't you won't see any results. Unless it is a hardcore peel but for something like this you need to do this atleast once everyday.
Hey, I've been using the toner now for about 10 days or so. No big noticeableresults yet so far for fading my red marks. Anyway, I wanted to try using aspirin. Here is what i am wondering. I currently put on the ACV toner morning and night and leave it on all day/night.
If i use aspirin...
1) should i use it in a separate aspirin mask for like 20 minutes at morn/night, or
2) should i crush the aspirin into the ACV
IF OPTION 2... what is the ratio. I mixed 1 cup of ACV with 1 cup of water. I'm guessing that would take a whole bottle of aspirin. Anyway... how many ml's/teaspoons/tablespoons of ACV/water with how many number of aspirin[size?]?
1. No need to crush Aspirin bc the ACV dissolves the Aspirin immedately.
2. Aspirin masks IMO don't help much with redmarks, they seem to but redmarks usually come back darker. I would use aspirin only because it essentially is Salicylic Acid which can help remove blackheads, IF you don't like manual exfoliation.
3. Don't waste your time making an aspirin mask for redmarks, works better for blackheads.
Do I have to dilute it? My skin can handle the full strength. I use this twice a day, but at night I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion which has 8% AHA. Would it harm my skin if at night I used the ACV (not diluted) and then use the lotion?
edit: i just reread the front page, and you said that you can use it full strength. but i still am wondering if it would be alright to use the 8% AHA lotion at night. Thanks!!
SmashingPumpkins...
I'm currently using a 50/50 mixture right now. However, what do you think of doing just a full 100% ACV mix. I have very tough skin. I've have tried 40% lactic acid peels, and 30% glycolic, and never peeled or flinched from those. They ended up doing nothing to my skin. Would it be beneficial to try a 100% mixture? Maybe ill just try 50/50 on one side of my face, and 100 on the other?
I apologize if this question has been asked already, I have not had time to go through and read all 65 pages of this thread:).
I have only tried one method of reducing redness and scarring from acne, it's an over the counter face mask/peel that also reduces the amount of breakouts. Not sure I can give you the name. It's worked pretty well, but not as well as I would like.
I am very encouraged after reading some solutions on this message board (overwhelmed as well, as I don't know where to start!!!)
My question is simply this: When using ACV, is there a chance of it causing you to break out?
And I lied, one more question: Does it smell bad? I like the smell of vinegar, but I feel like it might make me smell like I haven't showered!
Well I havent had a breakout (touch wood) since using it but some people did i think. I started off diluting it 50% water 50% acv for the first 3 days then went on to straight acv applied to my face at night. It does smell really vinegary at first and my boyf couldnt even go near my face but i asked him to smell me again after 30 mins and he couldnt smell anything! how funny must of seeped in by then! i would try just using it at night first then wash off in morning x
* Try not to use too many products other then your acne treatment, acv and moisturizer. If you use other AHA's or other masks you will have no idea what is causing you to break out or reduce redmarks.
* ACV alrdy is an AHA it has Malic Acid - A colorless, crystalline compound, COOHACH2ACHOHACOOH, that occurs naturally in a wide variety of unripe fruit, including apples, cherries, and tomatoes, and is used as a flavoring and in the aging of wine. Malic Acid, is an acid that is most commonly found in apples. Malic acid, along with tartaric acid, has unique antioxidant properties that none of the above AHAs contain. Along with its antioxidant properties, malic acid has considerable moisturizing properties. Malic acid imparts a very smooth almost slippery consistency to products. When applied to the skin, malic acid leaves a protective, moisturize coat on the skin.
Excellent info on Malic Acid and probobly why ACV is so good at ridding the body of toxins - http://www.thehealthierlife.co.uk/article/...malic-acid.html
Types of Alpha Hydroxy Acid
glycolic acid - sugar cane
lactic acid - milk
malic acid - apples and pears
citric acid - oranges and lemons
tartaric acid - grapes
mandelic acid (Bitter Almonds).

Also, the reason why using two forms of an AHA at once like using ACV and 8% or 10% GA is because that is wayyy to much exfoliation. If you exfoliate yopur skin too much you lose the barrier of your skin, which is for moisturizing. Hence, your skin will lose all suppleness and wrinkle. I learned this the hard way and once I stopped using so many exfoliating products my skin gradually got its natural moisture back and my skin is supple and healthy again. So using 1 AHA products is enough and always moisturize.
I suggest if you have blackheads, while ACV will help push them out I use a pedicure brush to exfoliate them out like every other week and that will also get rid of any extra dead skin and blackheads.

ah thanks so much! that was helpful :]
I started ACV on Tuesday. 50/50-ACV/Water on my face, straight ACV on my back. My face didn't break out, I did get some grain like pimples for about two days, but I assume that was just some junk being pulled to the surface. My complexion seems to be a lot smoother though (still red spots, but smoother)! Just a pimple here or there which is INSANELY amazing because usually around this time of month ::ahem:: I am completely broken out:). My back has cleared of major pimples, just a few little bumps. I am very pleased!
Though I smell like vinegar.....
This may be a stupid question but i was kind of confused so i wanted to know if the only thing for this toner to work is just the APple CIder Vinegar?
SO all i have to do is just buy the APV and then apply it to my face like a toner?
well i am going to try it out an hopefully (knock on wood) it will work on my red spots
thanks

I wish I had found this out sooner but it's too late now. Before I was using this ACV toner with AHA souffle twice a day and I noticed my face aging a little. I've stopped and yet to see my skin go back to normal.
I'm starting this today and I'm drinking this stuff too.
a question though my skin is very sensitive and I was going to do this, put it on my skin leave it for 5 mins or so then jump in the shower, will this work? or do you have to leave it on your skin, will a shower wash it off too much??
does your face have to be wet and cleansed before you apply it?
whats the best way to get results, i dont like the idea of leaving it on overnight though.
