My redmarks are totally pissing me off and I just found ACV in my kitchen! woohoo! guess my dad uses it in marinades or something, but tis mine now!excited bout trying it tonight!
so what difference does mixing it with green tea as opposed to water make?
Green Tea has a tone of antioxidants and I just believe it would be beneficial to the skin. I use to drink it all the time and I used the tea grains + honey as a mask and it really made my pores tightened. You don't have to use Green Tea but it is just a suggestions.
Smashingpumpkins are u married??? or........
Married? No. Why do you ask lol seems a little random.
So your method is buying an Aloe Vera plant and taking the sap basically and mixing it in a blender with ACV. What if you buy 100% FOTE (Fruit of the Earth) Aloe Vera Gel, which has no irritants put that in a blender with ACV? I have no idea what kind of mess you would make or if it would be like a paste idk, but it sounds interesting.
I have started my ACV regimen again, now that my hormones aren't so crazy and nearing the third trimester of my pregnancy.
Ppl say time heals redmarks, but for some I am not so sure. I have had these two almost purple redmarks on my left cheek for months now and it wasn't until this past week when using ACV that they've become noticeably lighter. I also just recently had a pimple on my right cheek which n ow is almost gone its a very light pink.
My skin look so much healthier when I use ACV. My face just glows, and as for the blackheads wherever I have any they come to the surface quickly making it much easier for me to exfoliate them out of my skin.
ACV also is keeping away the oil.
Currently no active acne. And, Dan's BP is working great for my shoulders and back.
I apologze if this has already been asked before, but what do you do about the smell of the vinegar. I try to apply after I get out of the shower, but then I end up smelling like vinegar all day. I don't know if anyone else notices, but if I go to the gym and start to sweat the smell seems to get even stronger. No one has commented on it yet , but it definetley keeps me from putting it on sometimes. Thanks.

would green tea change the pH? What is the pH of green tea? =p
just to comment on the aloe vera in a blender idea, I used to just buy the long aloe vera stems (look like giant serrated knives) and cut them in pieces, and use them directly on my skin. The gooey sap would stick to my skin and dry out after a couple of minutes. i would leave it on for a few hours and then wash it off with warm water. It worked pretty well, Id say at the very least it made my skin feel a lot more refreshed. Im going to go back to using Aloe Vera. I cant really tell if ACV has done anything for me, my redmarks are fairly deep, so I will supplement it with Aloe Vera Gel.

honestly it is just water and tea I don't think tea changes the pH.
I'm starting ACV today as well as lemon water and Neutrogena Red Mark fading peel to fade my awful redness. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
biggest waste of money I have yet to see anyone on this board say it has actually helped. It smells bad and all it looks like is small exfoliating beads. If I were you I would return it quick. When I bought it it was like 15 dollars, wow what a waste.
Odd... someone actually asked the pH of tea and googled it and suprisingly got an answer.
Q. How about the PH of tea? Is tea alkaline or acidic?
A. Like most fruits, the strong tea and first cup of tea is light acidic, but much more "alkaline" than coffee which is strong acidic. The light tea depends water used. The best water is spring or natural artesian water with NSF certified, but NOT purified water which is "acidic" to human body. I use Alkalive PH Stix Test Strips (from Phion Nutrition company, USA) to test, from more alkaline to more acidic, Ku-Ding wild green tea, > fresh green tea (Bi Luo Qun is best, Longjing is second, these two are better than other green teas in my testing) > regular green tea > woolong tea > pu'er tea > black tea.
Water is generally alkaline so naturally your tea will be more alkaline then acidic. On another website it said tea is generally bwteen 4 and 6.5 pH. Depending on how alkaline your water is too. Now mixinf ACV + Water dilutes your ACV so it isn't a strong acid, still an acid just not as strong so don't think it becomes alkaline when adding the water or green tea. Which I think Green Tea is actually more on the acidic side then alkaline.

Thank you, that's good to know cause my face is littered with them.
I'm currently using 1:1 mixture of Trader Joe's ACV and Trader Joe's Organic Green Tea. Do you guys think it's better to use spring water or distilled water? Also, do you refrigerate your toner so the green tea doesn't go bad? I'm wondering if I should switch out the batch on a weekly basis or keep using it until it runs out.
Why are there mixed results with people using ACV?
I'd like to start using ACV all over my face.. I've been testing it on only a corner for about a week. I am worried it will break me out, or make my acne worse when I decide to use it everywhere. Yeah, I read about the purging, but how long does that last? Also, the main thing I wanted to ask about this is how in the world can people find ACV to have negative effects on their skin? The burning, the dryness, people claiming they have worse acne after it than before.. I don't understand how it could do such things if it has a 5% acidity that is able to balance the pH level of your skin.
There is no purging, atleast I don't believe there is. I believe that your skin breaks out after using ACV just like with the CSR and any other regimen bc your skin isn't adapted to it. For me it takes about a week before all the active pimples are gone and soon after no new serious breakout should occur. That is if you don't add anything. This regimen should be extremely simple ACV + BP or Tea Tree Oil or Acne Medication + Moisturizer. That is it. If you add stuff from there yes you will more then likely break out, the same rules apply just like the CSR no added variables until you are completely clear. Once you figure out what acne meds you will use and moisturizer stick with it and dont change anything. Now if you are past the point of break outs like you were on Accutane then just do ACV + Moisturizer and you are set.
There are so many mixed results bc ppl are adding a million different items. I am always asked can I use Alpha Hydrox with ACV and its like NO! first of all that is overkill for your face, yes you want results instantly but nothing is instant, if anything you are ruining your face by using wayy to many exfoliating products.
Burning yes ACV does burn it is an acid. Just as if you put any other low concentration of acid on your faced it will sting.
Dryness makes sense bc if you go from having oily skin for year and then dry skin its going to be uncomfortable, hence the moistuizer.
It doesn't worsen acne but you need to give it more then a week to actually get results. Like I said previously you skin needs to adapt just as the CSR claims which will initially break you out, and for some how long it takes for your skin to adapt depends. Depends on so many factors on of which is your own skin type for some it may take a week and for others maybe a month.

You would probobly only want to use a small amt of green tea like don't fill up an entire astringent bottle bc I guess it is possible for Green Tea to go bad. In that case put what ever is left into the fridge justg in case.
As far as distilled vs spring water I never looked into it. But, it would be nice if someone else did and maybe experimented with ti and gave their results.
Info on Green Tea
"Because of the way it is processed, green tea does not have a long shelf life, much less than other types of tea. Freshness is a very important factor when purchasing green tea - you do not want a tea which has spent long periods of time on the shelf, in ocean transit, or in a warehouse. Simply put, old green tea does not stay green and does not taste good. Typical shelf life, from date of packaging, is about 6 months on unopened packages and immediately drops to 2-3 months once opened. This basically rules out the grocery store and "flavored" green teas (peach, strawberry, etc.) All O-Cha.com teas are packaged in Japan within a very short time (1-2 weeks) from when you order them." http://www.o-cha.com/green-tea-basics.htm
I can't find anything on how long it will last after being brewed, but if someone wants to investigate it further that would be great. I'd imagine refigeration is the best to keep it fresh, most ppl make a big batch of tea and then refigerate them so you should be fine. As far as ACV haviung any effect on Green Tea I have no idea and I doubt any studies have been done on the combo together.
Skin benefits of green tea
There have been a number of encouraging studies of skin benefits of green tea. Animal studies showed protection from skin cancer. Both animal and human studies have credibly demonstrated that topical green tea formulations reduce sun damage. Green tea appears to exert sun damage protection by quenching free radicals and reducing inflammation rather than by blocking UV rays. Therefore, green tea may synergistically enhance sun protection when used in addition to a sunscreen.
A small study showed benefits of 2% polyphenone (via a particular type of green tea extract) in papulopustular rosacea. In particular, a significant reduction in inflammatory lesion was reported compared to placebo. What about wrinkles, skin sag and other signs of aging? Can green tea help? Considering their well-documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, topical green tea polyphenols are likely to slow down the development of some signs of aging. Whether green tea can actually diminish wrinkles and skin sag is far more uncertain. In a 2005 study, forty women with moderate photoaging were randomized to either a combination regimen of 10% green tea cream and 300 mg twice-daily green tea oral supplementation or a placebo regimen for 8 weeks. No significant differences in clinical grading were found between the green tea-treated and placebo groups. On the other hand, histologic grading of skin biopsies did show significant improvement in the elastic tissue content of treated specimens. More human studies are needed to not only determine the scope of anti-aging skin benefits of green tea but also to work out the optimal usage.
If you are willing to put in a bit of extra effort, here is some alternatives. Freeze freshly brewed green tea as ice cubes and use them as a toner. (Just don't apply ice cubes to your skin right out of the freezer, let them start thawing first or you may get a freeze burn.) Or you can make your own fresh green tea cream using standardized extract as an active ingredient (see our article Do-It-Yourself Anti-Aging Skin Care). You can also drink lots of green tea or take green tea extract in capsules as discussed above - the polyphenols might reach your skin via the bloodstream in sufficient amounts to make a difference.

Brew a strong cup of green tea and use the cooled liquid as a soothing astringent. This is especially effective for treating troubled or acne prone complexions. http://www.dermadoctor.com/pages/newslette...B5B481196658%7D
Its hard to tell but by the pic your redmarks looks fairly light. But nontheless ACV fades redmarks, which you have. Takes time but from the pic doesnt seem like it will take too long bc they look light.
Okay great! I applied it 2x yesterday (once when I got the stuff and once after I took my night shower) and I applied it this morning and now. I plan to do it after a shower later I think I can already tell a difference plus my mom said it looks a lot better. Thanks! I did 50/50 Green tea and ACV with two crushed up aspirin :surprised:
Wow! i so wanna try this treatment, ive been wanting to buy some ACV for days, but never have gotten around to going to the supermarket to buy some ACV. i just need a suggestion on exactly how i can incorporate green tea into the toner im going to make with the ACV, since it doesn't stay fresh for long.
i have really bad red marks, hopefully this will help. my skin isn't sensitive so i'll probably make a 1:1 green tea:ACV toner. My aspirin tablets are effervescent, which means they fizz up in water, are these ok to use? and how many should i add to the toner.
what's more effective.... spraying the toner onto my face or using a cotton pad?
thanks!
