I figured something out in the few weeks. All I had left for closed scars were on my cheeks --- old acne from years back. A normal application of Vitamin A wouldn't open it up fast enough so at night in addition to putting on a regular layer, I rubbed more Vitamin A four or five times every 20 minutes or so on the right cheek. I then broke in pimples on that cheek only, as the scars opened up. Now the right side is almost completely healed and scars almost gone and getting smooth again, and I've already started doing the same on the other cheek.

After that I think I can stop using it altogether or at least just enough to keep the oil in check.

Small update. 3 days in and a bit more oily it seems (pre-accutane oil coming back).

Got a small outbreak too.. oh well. Noticed my face stays moisturized even after I wash the vit a oil off.. Also I'm taking 10 mg Accutane every other day to speed it up.

2 week update: No change! Losing some of my faith in it now! How long was it before the rest of you started to see a difference?

I figured out the Brazil nuts I was eating made my face more oily.

Still applying Topical vit A at night and 10mg of Accutane in the morning. It's been very hot and humid during past weeks and that's not helping!

BTW anyone know exactly how much IU is per 10mg Accutane?

Hi all, I just thought i'd give you an update. I'm on week 4 now, and since I've started using Vit A theres definitely been a reduction in oil but not dramatic. Though, it's hard to judge being summer and all. Last week, I noticed its leaving my skin really soft and smooth, and I thought it sorted out my blackheads. No new acne forming, just one or two really tiny ones. This week, the blackheads re-appeared..grr! It could be that its just slowing them down because it usually takes a few days before they come back.

Since about 2 weeks ago I've stopped using BP, so all I'm using now is Vit A and a cleanser. When I started, I only applied in the evenings and used Vit A as shaving oil..but now I'm leaving it to soak for 15 mins in the morning.

For those who have started with it recently, have patience! It can take more than 8 weeks. To me it seems like a very gradual improvement, certainly nothing overnight - so I'm in for the long haul.

Don't worry if you your complexion gets worse for short periods. I still have a little oil on my nose and get some flare up occassional but it only occurs where scars remain. And the oil is changed somehow that it don't get trapped in my pores and after they flare, scars are lessened or no more.

How do you find your skin reacts during hot weather, is it still greasy? Yesterday I found the weather made my skin soo greasy, very disappointing. If I break a sweat, I've always found my skin looks really greasy afterwards.

I wonder how much better this will get by week 8? I'm still on week 4!

i recieved my vitamin A today and i did see improvement on my oil...also the reason that you are more greasy during the hot weather is because of the sweat that dissolves the sebum...so it disperses throughout the skin, also from the scalp....it drips down to ur face.

Just thought I would add an update. I've been using the Vitamin A for about three months now. My face is about 99% clear (still some stubborn blackheads). My oil reduction is dramatic! I still get a little oily now that it is summer and REALLY humid but nowhere near as bad as before. I definitely think it has improved skin texture too.

I am currently using Aloeguard (had a breakout from that at week 2) and Dan's BP and Eucerin moisturizer in the AM and Vit A in the PM.

Good Luck to everyone else trying the Vitamin A!

Just wanted to add that it was a slow but steady improvement for me. Don't expect an overnight miracle but don't get discouraged, either!

thanks for the update, I was getting really discouraged after about 10 days on this thing, but after reading what wally and you said, i realize it's gonna take a while before this thing really starts to work.

Thankyou Lola, its good to hear you're improving still smile.gif Was the change very gradual then (i.e. a little less each day-presumambly unnoticable) or every now and then did you notice it suddenly cut back a little?

Like Willxzero i was also pretty discouraged after a couple of weeks, its beacause the site says somthing like 'most people see a instant decrease in the quantity of sebum produced'!

I got really mild acne and quite a lot of closed comedones. Anyone else with my kind of skin (a bit oily in the t-zone) tried the vitamin-A topical from [Removed] ? I just hope I won't have to deal with a huge breakout in the beginning =/
