The absorption of Vitamin A into the skin definitely takes time and it requires more than 15 minutes. The studies done on topical retinyl palmitate involves
applying it on mouse skin or cultured skin cells for 24 to 48 hours. This means that topical vitamin A should remain on the top of the skin as long as possible.
My topical vitamin A remains on the skin for at least 7 hours each day. I was able to control the breakout by using 2.5 benzoyl peroxide in the morning .
i try to do around 16 hrs a day of vitamin a on my face......
i start to put it on around 7:30 in the evening.....then i go to sleep around 11:30 and wake up around 7:00....(thats about 12 hours right there) wash it off, then put it right back on and if i dont have to work in the morning, leave it on for about 5 more hours..... then start the whole process all over again.
the big breakouts, knock on wood, finally, finally are starting to subside....i still get the little ones though..but those big painful ones have stopped coming for now(i hope). I guess this is a sign that my skin is adjusting to the high amount of vitamin a on it.
Week 8 update: Right, so I've hit the two month mark. I hope this doesn't discourage people, but I have to be honest about my results. Unfortunately, in terms of oil production, I can't see much improvement, even though its been 2 months now that I've applied it to my face, every night. In terms of acne, there is an improvement, though not totally clear. I still have blackheads, and occasional spots around my face. Though I bought this mainly to stop the oil production, especially during these summer months. My first bottle is nearly empty, so I am about to start with the second bottle.
So far though, I think I'm the only person who hasn't had good results with this over this amount of time. Clearly it looks like it works differently for different people. My routine is applying BP 2.5% panoxyl at night, letting it dry for 15 mins..then applying topical vit A. Perhaps I should apply the BP in the morning, and the Vit A at night instead? In the morning I wash with a cleanser, and just a bit of moisturiser on my nose.
I haven't completely lost all hope yet, I still have another bottle. Please keep posting guys, regardless of your results. At the moment I'm feeling pretty down about this. Im still holding out, hoping that perhaps it will take me longer than others, but that I will get there eventually.

I'm fairly pleased with my results so far. My skin is much smoother and softer than ever before, and i don't get lil bumps from shaving anymore either . No oil reduction at all, but hopefully something good soon. My breakouts are diminishing like crazy, but when I do get them, they seem to last a lot longer than before. like I have these fairly small ones on my left temple (I think that's what it's called... right next to the eye...) that have been there for like 3 weeks, never getting bigger, or smaller. I ignore it cuz it has to go eventually and it's not so big that it bothers me. But that's typically what my breakouts have been like, fairly small ones that last a crazy long time. Outside of that, I'm pleased with everything else, blackheads are almost non-existant on my normally mine-field of a nose, and I typically dont' get big ugly whiteheads anymore. Hopefully things will continue to improve from here.
*Edit
For those of you that don't know, I'm doing botchla's regimen, with the topical Vitamin A being applied after everytime I wash.
Hi dudes. I'm looking real good these days. Bumpy scars are all gone and I almost never have a pimple. Also my hair was getting gray bad on top so I started putting the last bit of coffee from the pot in my hair every morning. It is giving my brown hair blonde highlights. Looks really good! If u have gray I 'd try it out.

okay, enough is enough.....i cant take these breakouts any more....im taking today off from vitamin a. maybe im putting too much on or something but this stuff irritates the shit outta of my skin!
someone else in another thread said they are taking 32,000 IU of vitamin a a day...i told them they shouldnt because its over the rda dosage of 5,000.
then i did some reasearch of my own and found out that 32,000 isnt that bad as long as you dont take it for an extended amount of time.
ive been taking one drop of vc labs for the last two days to help me with my breakout from hell. im sorry but its really getting out of control. the cysts and everything is reaking havoc on my face....
Besides, the most likely cause of your flare-up is the retinyl parmitate.
Why would you take more retinyl parmitate to treat a side-effect caused by retinyl parmitate?
That would just make things worse.
When I was on accutane the doc gave me erythromycin for the first weeks, because Accutane often causes a flare up then. It's likely that VitA can do the same.
DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TODAY AT WORK SOME LADY CAME UP TO ME AND GAVE ME A WEBSITE TO GO TO FOR MY SKIN...
IT WAS SO FUCKEN EMBARASSING I JUST WANTED TO DIE!
YOU KNOW YOUR SKIN IS BAD WHEN COMPLETE STRANGERS COME UP TO YOU AND OFFER YOU ADVISE!!
I HAVENT HAD ANYONE APRROACH ME SINCE MY TEENAGE YEARS(AND THAT SHIT USED TO HAPPEN TO ME EVERYDAY BACK THEN ) IM 26 NOW!!!!
THIS STUFF IS TAKING TOO LONG TO KICK IN AND MY FUCKING PATIENCE IS WEARING THIN...I FEEL SO FUCKING UGLY RIGHT NOW....I HATE THIS!!!!
IM APPROACHING WEEK 4 AND I BETTER SEE SOME FUCKING RESULTS CAUSE I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MY SKIN IS 5X WORSE THAN IT WAS WHEN I FIRST STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you haven't been using this stuff for at least 2-3 months, then please do not give up yet! Though this is not the quick fix that the website promotes, I am seeing significant improvements.
I have been using this for about 11 weeks now - for 5 weeks straight, then a 3 week break due to a horrible reaction to Provon that made me stop using everything on my face just to normalize it, and now about 6 weeks so far since starting it up again. I am seeing oil reduction by about 50-60%. The blackheads are nearly completely gone which has made my pores appear much smaller. And the biggest thing that I didn't expect is that the scars on my face are smoothing out. The breakout are still there, but they are small and clear up quickly. I just use bp to spot treat.
This is the best my skin has looked in a very long time. I am actually not embarrased to go out without makeup on now, and I used to be too embarrased to go out just to get the mail or newspaper without makeup!
